The 16 Best Airbnbs in Hawai‘i From O‘ahu to Kaua‘i - AFAR

"Located on the southern side of Kaua‘i, this house (pictured at the top of the article) is tucked back from the bustling beachfront and hidden in the hills, surrounded by pastures, creeks, and gardens that flutter to life with rare native birds and butterflies. The owners are lifelong boaters, so in building the house, they selected exotic hardwoods that would withstand the tropical elements and almost evoke the feeling of being inside a yacht. Throughout, they’ve decorated the space with natural fabrics and objets d’art they collected on their travels, bringing in unique textural elements like camel hair, silk, and cashmere. The property gets bonus points for its infinity pool and hand-woven hammocks, excellent spots to take in the view of the surrounding hills." - Nicholas DeRenzo

I stayed at Ka Hale Oluina for my honeymoon and we could not stop admiring the beauty of the property. The villa is well appointed, to say the least. There were nice quality towels, sheets, and all of the toiletries you would need while on vacation. The kitchen is fully stocked with plates, cups, utensils, etc. The owner, Bruna, has impeccable taste and it is evident in the stylish furnishings she has chosen, both modern and antique. The photos do not do this property justice, as you truly must be inside the home to see how gorgeous it is. My favorite part of the villa is the expansive deck (lanai) which has an ocean view through beautiful pastures. At night, we used the outdoor jacuzzi and had our champagne right under the starry sky! I was so happy to be far away from the touristy, hotel scene. Yet, we were a minutes drive from some charming restaurants like Kalaheo Coffee House and Brick Oven Pizza. We were also only 10 minutes from all of the great attractions in Poipu Beach (e.g. Kukuiula Village shops and restaurants, scuba, fishing, and sightseeing). I was very pleased with our stay and have no regrets about choosing Ka Hale Oluina for my honeymoon.

The photos and online descriptions don't do O'luina justice. We had the most amazing time on our honeymoon and had a hard time leaving the beauty and comfort of the home to explore the rest of the island! Everything was so easy, the house was clean, the views were stunning. Not to mention the pool, the hammock, and the stars. We hope to come back some day!

This is not a luxury hotel, but it is luxurious in it's own way. You are paying for a once in a lifetime (well, maybe more if you are rich) experience. The guesthouse is set apart from anything else giving you a completely secluded place to relax. The outdoor shower offers expansive views of the ocean and is so magical I can barely describe the feeling. ||||Chef Helen came and cooked the most decadent fish I have ever tasted. She introduced us to Monchong, and it was far superior to the Monchong we ordered at a 5star restaurant later in the week. She sourced it fresh from the piers that morning and knew the fisherman that caught it! Her soup, fish, and deserts were fine restaurant quality, and her ease of conversation made her feel like an old friend. We wanted her to pull up a chair and join us rather than work the skillet. Her granddaughter's ginger cookies were so amazing we went to their farmers market booth later in the week to buy more. ||||The in-room massage was meh, and it's the first time I've ever had someone rub my stomach during a session. Not going to lie, I couldn't wait for it to be over so I could go enjoy a chardonnay in the hot tub. I'm still weirded out by it. ||||If you can afford it, stay here as long as you can. We found this place by accident and it was over our entire trip's budget. I got a surprise bonus and my wife almost cried when I told her we could stay here! Simply wonderful.

We can't begin to describe how amazing our time in O'luina was. We went for part of our Honeymoon and it was perfect. So so peaceful and romantic.||Kauai is definitely an ideal island for a honeymoon or romantic break. Morning coffee on the balcony or watching the stars in the evening was wonderful and O'luina is the perfect setting. In the hills above kalaheo you feel like you're away from the whole world yet a 10 minute drive and you can be having an amazing breakfast at the cafe on the main road

A dream come true! Beautiful, quite, private, heavenly - away from it all with gorgeous views and still close enough to down town areas - perfect balance. All amenities available at your fingertips. Beautiful grounds to walk, jog or run and enjoy nature! First class from top to bottom with special touches throughout. So unique in decor - (collections from around the world from owners travels) and setting - from anything we have ever seen - so special! So relaxing - we never wanted to leave!! Loved the outdoor shower and hammock!! Highly recommend for a wonderful getaway! Can't wait to return!!||Thank you O'Luina for a vacation of a lifetime...we will be back!

We were lucky to spent 5 days in this stunning villa and there are literally no words to describe how wonderful it is. The location, the decor, the atmosphere - it's all simply perfect!!! It's like you leave the outside world behind and indulge yourself in luxury. It's a perfect place to spend your honeymoon (as we did) or just simply run away from day-to-day life. ||Bruna is an amazing host and made us feel very welcome and special. ||||When you are there, make sure you arrange for chef Helen to prepare meal for you one night. It was AMAZING!!

This place exceeded my expectations. Every detail is well thought out. There is total privacy. The house is clean and well decorated. The kitchen is well equipped with the basics. There is a comfy bed, huge jacuzzi tub, infinity pool, and the surroundings are just stunning. It’s a short drive to the touristy part of the island. Stay here if you get the chance!

We stayed here about a year ago on our honeymoon, and it was amazing! I think it will be my favourite place to stay for a long time to come. ||The wooden cabin is secluded with an amazing view, but still close enough to everything if you want to go for a day trip. I'd recommend car hire.|| We organised for the chef to come and cook dinner one night, and his food was fantastic, as was the private massage we had on the deck another night.||Our hosts had stocked the fridge with some basics, including cereal, milk, a delicious banana bread, fruit, chocolate and a celebratory bottle of sparkling, which made us feel very welcome.||I would definitely stay here again, and would love to come back.|
