Very engaging patron and manager, right from my first telephone enquiry. Met me in my car and directed me to secure parking, saw me to the hotel, checked me in, directed me to nearby restaurants for supper. Carefully explained access and security. Bedroom comfortable and with a small balcony to view the main street. So obliging and helpful with a cheery good bye as I left. Hotel with attitude, well located and good value for money.

For the location, price, and experience, absolutely worth it. The owner and his daughters were very friendly, and service was quite good. 2-star hotel experiences can be hit or miss, and you should be aware of what you are signing up for... in my opinion this one was absolutely worth it. Possible challenges to be aware of: the elevator in this older building is very tiny and you manage the doors yourself. If you take the stairs, it's an exercise! Key handling involves leaving the key on a rack when you depart. Still, you are in the heart of Via XX Septiembre near the Piazza de Ferrari with surprisingly sizeable rooms, good showers, and great AC. That alone is worth the price, and the service was exceptional. I would stay again.

The hotel is in a very central location, near public transport. The room is near public transport, very easy to get to. Our room included bathroom and shower and was a lot bigger than expected, very clean and beautiful decoration and atmosphere. Service was kind and respectful, even though they probably only speak Italian. For the price we paid, the service and room was a lot more than expected, very good for people on a budget! Perfect hotel for people looking to enjoy Genova for what it is! 4/5 Stars

Small friendly guest house between the historic old town and shopping areas of Genoa. On the busy xx September Street with shops and restaurants near. Historic attractions well within walking distance. The guest house is four stories up in an old block. Ring the bell, look at the slightly shabby lobby, walk up or try the very old lift and perhaps wonder if this was such a good idea. |Do not worry. Once in the hotel is small, informal and very friendly. Chatty helpful owners, Bobby the small quiet dog that lives on the sofa. My single room was small with a side view of the main street. Clean if basic and worn. TV worked with local channels, fridge, hot water in shower. Overall functional and at the price good value.. Some Road noise as with no air conditioning you will have the window open. |Overall very happy.|Best bit: friendly staff and dog|Least best bit : no air-conditioning

You don't realise how perfectly located the hotel is until you get there for the first. A very charming budget hotel with lovely staff. They don't speak good English which is fine. They were attentive and were very happy to look after our luggage whilst we explored Genoa on our last day! I highly recommend for budget travellers!

It is convenient and comfortable room. Very clean. You can't be in a better location to reach all Genoa land marks and see the nightlife. The folks here are fun, jocular and good natured. By far my best experience in Italy has been here in Genoa and the folks at this hotel have played a large art in this experience. I thank them. Cheers, Caleb

I was very satisfied with my stay. The owner speaks English, WiFi works, the room was exactly as I expected it to be. Hotel is located very close to the city centre and the harbour. Easy to get anywhere. Moreover, I got a map of Genova from the owner of the hotel with his tips where to go signed later on the map. The only disadvantage was closed elevator, but it was due to the renovation of the staircase. It’s temporary. I would go here again if I stay in Genova. :)

The word hotel conjures up a building with lots of rooms, and an restaurant, in my mind. Not so the Olympia Hotel. The devil is in the detail (see address), The Olympia is one floor (4th) of an old office/apartment building in the older part of Genoa. It is on one of the main streets but our room was at the back so no noise issue. It is accessed by an antiquated lift (straight out of the old movies and worth a visit just to see it) and we were greeted by Agostino at the door of the 'hotel'. The initial impression was not stunning. The room was adequate, if a little small, and had a private bathroom across the landing (other rooms have them ensuite). The decor had seen better days, and the whole place probably needs a facelift. That's the bad news. The good, is the welcome was very friendly and helpful and even though he speaks very little English Agostino was willing to try and once he understood he would do anything he could to help. He knows so much about Genoa so any information you want he can get answers. He knows restaurants off the beaten track where you can get genuine Genoese style cooking. Very close to Piazza de Ferrari and all the wonderful buildings there, plus the stop for the Explorer bus. We didn't try the breakfast but on the way to the Piazza there are several excellent places for food.||The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. The final comment has to be that I left my camera in the room, as we checked out. Agostino booked a cab so knew where we had gone, and drove over to where we were to give us back the camera. That act of kindness alone warrants a good rating. ||||So don't be put off by first impressions and treat yourself to genuine Italian hospitality.Grazie mille Agostino
