Olympic Stadium is one of Montreal’s most iconic landmarks and it’s worth seeing at least once, especially if you like architecture, Olympic history, or big-city photo spots. The outside views are impressive (the “Big O” shape and the leaning tower are instantly recognizable), and the whole Olympic Park area feels like a major piece of Montreal history.
Important: manage expectations right now. The Montreal Tower/observatory is closed for a major renovation and is not expected to reopen to visitors until spring 2027. The stadium itself is also in a long roof-replacement project, so parts of the experience can be limited compared to what you might remember from past years. If you’re going mainly for tours or viewpoints, it’s smart to check what’s actually open on your visit date before you make a special trip.
Even with construction, it can still be a great stop if you treat it as an “exterior landmark + surrounding attractions” visit. The location is excellent for pairing with nearby spots like the Biodôme and the Botanical Garden area, and it’s easy to reach by Metro (Pie-IX or Viau) so you don’t have to deal with downtown driving.
What to expect on site:
* Big, open, concrete-heavy Olympic Park setting with lots of walking
* Great photo angles from different sides of the stadium and along the esplanades
* Paid parking is available if you drive, but it can feel busy during events or peak times
* Because it’s a large complex, weather matters (wind/cold/heat can make the outdoor part feel long)
Overall, this is a must-see Montreal landmark, but right now it’s best as a quick stop to appreciate the architecture and history, plus a base for the nearby attractions—rather than a full “tower view + stadium tour” experience.
