This place probably has the most options I've ever seen at a KBBQ place in Utah. The prime beef brisket was amazing and practically melts in your mouth. Some friends and I went here after a morning at Lagoon (amusement park in Farmington, UT) and it was so filling. I also liked the takoyaki and fried rice!

Honestly one of my favorite places from now on. This restaurant has such a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and you can order as much as you can eat. We were served by Cherry. She was so amazing. She by the table to check periodically that we were doing okay. I totally recommend this restaurant.

Google
Everything about this place is fun. We will leave 30+ mins to eat here! We had an excellent server named Cherry. She was super helpful taught us the ropes and also recommended food for us to try. We highly recommend visiting and asking for Cherry to serve you!

Google
Great deal for all you can eat Korean BBQ! This is definitely going to become a regular place for us. Loved to food and had excellent service!

Google
Had an okay experience here with my Mom. It was good service and the ambiance was nice. I love KBB and didn’t like that they put paper on the grills, but I get they are difficult to clean. I didn’t like that the meat had a red tinge to it. I wasn’t sure when it was cooked and I like my meat medium rare. Service was good and location was easy. Parking easy.

We have been coming here once or twice a month for the past 2 years and everything has been exceptional! Today we had Cherry serving us. She gave us excellent service. She sat us down within a minute of walking in, food was put down quickly, and everything was tasty. Even when we ordered a little more, she was on top of it. We love and appreciate everyone at this location. Hope to keep coming here for as long as they're open.

Google
I’ve meant to eat here for years and finally made it for lunch today. DELICIOUS! The tenderloin, shrimp, fried rice, and Hawaiian brisket entrees were great. The spicy pork belly was also a happy surprise! Our waitress was Cherry and she was very attentive, sweet and extra helpful as it is was our first experience. We’ll be back again! Soon and often!

Google
*beware of the toilets* Probably one of the better KBBQ in SLC for the price. The food tastes good and since it's all you can eat you will leave really full. I would suggest focusing on the thin meats and meats that are not marinated. I would say in general it can be quite oily, which is the general nature of this food. The bathroom is very dirty, so if you can avoid using them I would recommend that. The staff was very polite and friendly, and we didn't have to wait to be seated. We also found parking right away.

Google
Outstanding and authentic Korean BBQ place in SLC. Cherry is a funny and attentive server, providing great recommendations to us. We enjoyed the bulgogi, the tenderloin, the Hawaiian beef, pork belly, and the original beef brisket. We had sides of assorted veggies and edamame's. Such a great value for all you can eat. Bring family and friends.

Yelp
The food is really good and the staff and their service is amazing. The environment is great.

Yelp
I really love Ombu! It's one of my favorite places for a hot pot experience in Salt Lake City! They usually always have a good quality meats! Most of the meal items are usually good but sometimes they can be a hit or miss! For the price you pay (which I think is around $20-$25 per person) it really does give you a lot of food! It usually isn't fairly busy but when it is it doesn't take long to be seated! I've never had a problem with my waiter or service being slow or unattended I do like the dark vibes and also the bigger booths are nice even if you are just going with a small group of people!

Yelp
They have a very rich menu the meats are not that bad they're actually really good customer service is wonderful the only thing is the area it's horrible they have homeless people standing outside of the restaurant
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to Ombu a few times because I love having a good experience with friends. They got new grills and it helped us not burn our meat. It would be 5 stars if it wasn't for this last experience on my birthday with a new group of friends. We were all enjoying time together after just turning off our stove. As we were talking, we were asked to leave because there were customers waiting for our seats. As we left it was confusing seeing half of the restaurant with open seating. This was a weird experience and unexpected. The waitress seemed annoyed from the beginning because of our big group even though we called a couple days before hand to confirm our seats. In hindsight, there might have been a miscommunication on their end, but it felt like we had to pay for their miscommunication.

Yelp
food was good but service was bad, our server only came to us twice; at the start giving us our menus, and at the end to hand us our check. I even noticed that she would go around and check her other customers, engaging with them as we were sitting at the table right next to them, she never came to check up on us, to change our grill, etc. she totally neglected our table, we had to ask another waiter to refill our waters and even get our check, when we were paying she asked us to put a tip to which I didn't because she did not deserve it. Usually I frequent the midvale location and enjoy the service over there much more than this location, wouldn't come back to this location tbh

Yelp
Decent middle of the road KBBQ. Good prices for their lunch special. They were a little skimpy with the sides. Average service.

Yelp
dookie. food wasn't all that food it was okay i'd give it an 6.5/10 and service was okay kind of rude didn't really explain what needed to be explained well, charged extra for a to go box??

Yelp
The food and the service was good. Our hostess Cherry was nice and pleasant. We had a great dinner. Thanks.

Yelp
I'm impressed. Based on the reviews I was expecting worse. I think this place is worth the money and it's a fun experience! Good to take kids too! The food was good and the service was good but slow. The overall feel of the restaurant was clean. The bathrooms were a bit dirty but that's fixable. I would say be warned about pricing. We went in at 2pm and their website and menu says lunch pricing is till 3! As soon as we sat down they said it was dinner only. Maybe it's due to a Saturday but that is incorrect pricing based on all their advertising. Will totally be back

Yelp
It was my first time at a Korean BBQ restaurant and the food choices and service were fine. We had the all- you -can -eat buffet. Fun..

Yelp
High quality food, service and vibes for such an affordable price! We came here for a conference and were pleasantly surprised to find such a great restaurant close to downtown

Yelp
Love the cost, the variety of food choices, and the ambiance. It is chill, easygoing, and a great vibe. The service is great. However, I wish they had the tablets to order because it would just be easier and more efficient. The variety and cost are what makes this place special though! I love that AYCE means AYCE. Kimchi rice, ramen, fried appetizers, and more. I love their calamari. Some of the best I have had in UT. The different meats are great too. Cannot go wrong. Love going here!

Gabrielle Beth P.

Yelp
Don't listen to any of the reviews talking about bad service. the service here was attentive, helpful, nice, and quick! The group of employees here are hard working and they were very efficient during the Saturday night rush! Everything about this restaurant was amazing. The atmosphere was great and everything was very clean. All of the food was great! I recommend staying away from the Pork BBQ rice though, was a little bland, but besides it was great! Highly recommend: Spicy pork belly with the sauces they give you Bulgolgi was AMAZING Also their Signature Beef Tenderloin was great!! Thanks for a great experience and I am looking forward to coming back soon

Yelp
I've been to Ombu grill multiple times now and the food is always excellent and a surprisingly good price, especially if you get the lunch price. It's truly one of my favorite dining experiences and I do not understand why the score is so low. Service has always been in my experience pretty good. The staff always seems to be a bit busy but they're also always on the floor and if you need anything you can just flag someone down. The ambiance is very nice now as well. At one point in the past they had these big oven like vents over every grill at every table which sucked because they were loud and blocked your view across the table. But now the grills have been lowered a bit into the table so that quiet vents can be built all around the side of the grill and the big loud hanging ones are gone. The only thing is that some items on the menu are quite a bit better than others so I would definitely recommend trying a lot of things since its an all you can eat. My favorite are the signature beef tenderloins, spicy pork belly, and Hawaiian steak. 5/5 stars for sure

Benjamin B.

Yelp
Service is amazing, our waitress always had a friendly happy aura about her. The takoyaki was pretty good like a 3.5/5 and the selection is great. The Ombu signature beef tenderloin is so tender and flavorful. Definitely a great place to eat!

Diemkid C.

Yelp
the service was crap. I came on the Saturday 07/20 dinner time around 8. the waiter who is tall with eye glasses had a bad attitude to us. I ordered a pot of rose flower tea which did not come with the candle to keep it warm (it is how they put in the menu). When I asked him if it comes with the candle, he responded me neglectfully and told me that what was wrong and left the table without saying anything. It was not a big deal to me about missing the candle for the pot, I would have accepted happily any explanation from him if he did one. His attitude was not accepted. I want to bring up this issue to the business owner. His contemptous attitude was not accepted no matter what. I wonder if he is the manager. If so, It was even terrible. I just left $5 tip even though I usually tip 20% of the bills anytime I go to restaurant, but this time is exceptional. He didn't deserve any tip at all. This is my first time ever to make this long review to a business. I was really disappointed!

Yelp
Wonderful selection of seafood I have tried two of them now my favorite is the one on State Street great service never want for everything

Yelp
I went here with a few of my wife's colleagues. They offer a variety of delicious foods including steak, prime ribs, chicken, shrimp, fresh veggies of any kind, and more. It's all you can eat and you cook it right in front of you with your friends. Our server was very professional. The setup was unique and fun and affordable at 22.50 for all you can eat buffet style grill your own food with lots of meat options. A very good value. They do not allow to go food, though and keep a sharp eye on each table. You cannot turn up the burners.

Yelp
This is an excellent all you can eat Korean BBQ place. It's incredibly reasonably priced at just $21 for the dinner option that includes 50 items. They also have excellent boba that you can get as well. I got the traditional boba and it was sweetened perfectly with nice, chewy, fresh boba. On to the meal itself. The banchan (side dishes) are very limited. There is kimchi, cucumbers, seaweed salad, and a potato in sweet sauce. The items on the menu include a huge variety of appetizers, meats, and rice/noodle dishes. You can find the full menu on their website. We started off with your standard beef brisket and pork belly. The quality of meat was actually much higher than I was expecting. The meat was very flavorful, and there were a few sauces to dip them in. The pork belly was extremely fatty and melted as you ate it. We then moved on to the marinated items - beef bulgogi, beef tenderloin in a sweet sauce, and bone-in beef galbi. The beef galbi was amazing. A huge strip was brought to us and was easy to cut once it started cooking. It was extremely tender and the galbi sauce was sweet and fragrant. The beef bulgogi was solid as I expected - the meat was tender since it had been marinated. We tried the beef tenderloin which was surprisingly great. Cubes of beef were grilled to a perfect medium rare consistency, with a nice charred exterior. Final meat we had was beef tongue. This was so flavorful and tender, and I highly recommend getting this and not skipping out on it. We got an excellent kimchi fried rice that was filled with egg and spices. The vinegar-y, crunchy kimchi was a nice juxtaposition to the oily, hardy eggs and rice. The soft tofu and kimchi soup had great flavor and was nice to sip on throughout. We never made it to their other appetizers and meats as we were stuffed, but we were very pleased overall. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout, changing our grill multiple times. Parking is a little tough. There is a lot behind the building with probably a dozen or so spots. This does fill up fast during peak hours. There is plenty of free street parking all around the area, however, so you can park on the road if needed.

Yelp
Second time here and I was not disappointed. Service is great. I was not rushed at all. You cannot beat this place for the price. Yeah, it is in a crappy neighborhood, but I walked from my downtown hotel (1.9 miles) there and back with no issues.
google avatar

Yun-Wen L.

Yelp
Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - the proteins we selected were all nicely cut and seems like decent quality as they weren't frozen solid still nor melted. The galbi was a bit disappointing as it was really chewy (not in a good way). The sides and appetizers were surprisingly good! Note that the marinades and flavors seem less Korean and more Japanese/Chinese. They were out of (32) bacon enoki or no longer carry it. These were the items we ordered (2) takoyaki, (14) fried sesame balls, (18) prime beef brisket, (19) prime beef tongue, (20) prime pork belly, (24) Ombu signature beef tenderloin, (25) Ombu signature galbi, (39) herring grill, (49) corn cheese, and (52) beef donejang soup pot Ambience: 4/5 - nice and cozy shop without the music being too loud. The shop did get really smokey as the night went on. Service: 5/5 - slight language barrier but the server was really nice and came by to check on us multiple times Value for price: 5/5 - The banner outside has incorrect advertised price! Lunch $14.99 to $15.99 and dinner $19.99 to $21.99. The food was good though and we saw the difference in price when we opened the menu so we weren't too shocked

Yelp
If you haven't gone to a KBBQ restaurant yet, you're missing out. It's a really fun experience! The food here is high quality and very flavorful. It can get kinda loud when they're busy. The staff is actually kind of rude too tbh. But the fun you have cooking makes up for it. The kimchi rice is phenomenal!

Yelp
I got my Korean bbq cravings satisfied here at Ombu Grill last Saturday. They were able to accommodate our party of 6 despite not having a reservation, but only barely because every other table was taken. The salad bar area is still currently closed, but they bring you dipping sauces and have salad and fruit available on the appetizers menu. For appetizers, I tried the fried shrimp, calamari, edamame, fried chicken thigh and breast, bibimbap, salmon fried rice and takoyaki. All were tasty, but the star of the meal are the meats that we had to grill ourselves. This is not going to be a quick dining experience, and if you have plans after, you'll definitely smell like smokey bbq lol. My only complaint was one of our grills was turned up super high and the other was low. We also didn't get helped as frequently as we would've liked since they were so busy. My favorite items were the marinated short ribs, spicy pork belly, enoki wrapped bacon, premium steak and beef tenderloin. For $24.99 per person and all you can eat, I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. They also have different flavors of soju for $7 or $8 per bottle which makes for a perfect compliment to all that bbq! Strawberry was my favorite. Enjoy!

Yelp
KBBQ is one of my favorite things to eat out. Unlimited food, awesome flavors, what isn't there to love? Ombu has many options, and I mean A LOT which is probably why the quality of some of the food was......meh. Many of the meats had the same seasoning/marination so they all tasted very similar. Do's: bulgogi, beef tenderloin, kimchi fried rice All of these had great flavors & the meat was tender Don'ts: spicy chicken wing (no flavor at all), fried calamari (again no flavor), signature galbl (flavorless really thin piece of meat), corn cheese. Overall I would stop by if some friends wanted to dine here but this wouldn't be my choice for KBBQ in the valley.
google avatar

Leslie B.

Yelp
Right when we walked in we were seated. We had made reservations the same day but they were taking walk ins. We noticed we didn't even look up until later in the meal because the food and experience was so fun and the food was so delicious. The service was Extraordinary! The gentlemen that was our waiter, (Gerry) was hands down on top of things. I was very impressed! Best all around food. Best All around experience. I am bringing mom when she comes in town.
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
The majority of the meat has been frozen so the texture isn't the best. While the server was friendly, they were severely understaffed so it was hard for them to properly service each table.

K P.

Yelp
We always have great service here and good food options. Friendly staff and it's always a good vibe here.

Kathy T.

Yelp
If I could give it 10 stars I would. Often times when I go to KBBQ the meat is usually under seasoned if at all. Here, the cut and the seasoning were DIVINE. Additionally, the price is very reasonable for KBBQ. The wait staff appeared to be well-staffed as several people attended to us and checked in often to see if we needed anything Incredible place!
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
This establishment is located on the corner of a busy street. There isn't much parking behind the building and none really available in the front, but you can park on the side street. I have had a few scary instances walking from my car to the front door because that street is quite dark and have encountered random people near my car. Once you walk in, there are many available booths and it looks like any other Korean BBQ place. The side dishes are brought out pretty quickly. Looking at the quality of the dishes, the kimchi tends to look kind of old and the other dishes don't look very fresh either. The meat is okay, doesn't look extraordinarily appetizing, but it's not to the point of food poisoning... Ombu Grill was one of the first KBBQ places to open within Salt Lake City and my friends and I were so excited because we had all grown up without one or the first one that opened in Utah was an hour away from us. However, after we visited this place once, we rarely ever went back and especially after other KBBQ places have opened. Out of all the KBBQ places in Salt Lake City, I would probably go to this place last out of all of them. It just doesn't taste very good and it's kind of hard to mess up KBBQ... I mean we're cooking it with our own hands fresh, but it just doesn't taste very good...
google avatar

Charolette T.

Yelp
Love it here. Might not be located in the best place due to homelessness but the food is always good and the service is always good.
google avatar

Luciano W.

Yelp
If you don't mind eating in the middle of the smoke of all the tables' KBBQ's then go for it. I loved the meat and the variety. Service was friendly too. I shall return
google avatar

Mariya G.

Yelp
Surprised at the 5 star reviews. Possibly the worst Korean food I've ever had. The meat quality is really bad. We tried every cut and it was all inedible. It isn't worth $9.99 a person. The side dishes are non existent. Just a huge disappointment. Sadly there aren't many options for good Korean food in Utah... Definitely would not recommend.
google avatar

Caleb C.

Yelp
Ombu is always a great time! If you don't like how it's cooked it's probably your fault or your waiter keeps accidentally turning off your flame, which happened to us 3 times in one night. Waiters are hard to catch here but they are incredibly kind. The selection of meats is great, although I wish they had more appetizer like options! The ambience is amazing with great lighting, but it can get really loud as it's a small building. I think it's cool they offer a whole ramen option as well. It's not the best but it's definitely not bad. Overall I've only had good experiences at Ombu and I will be back! Take other reviews with a grain of salt, unless you're a meat snob or connoisseur you will enjoy it here.
google avatar

Alan L.

Yelp
Good Korean bbq buffet, very reasonably priced. Pork belly, takoyaki, chicken/pork cutlet, galbi, beef tongue were all good. Just a heads up, if coming here for a late dinner, the area is kind of sketch/shady (for Salt Lake). Lots of homeless in the parking lot and surrounding area.
google avatar

Stace K.

Yelp
Service was incredibly fast. Appetizers were delicious. Meat was fine but not amazing. The prices were incredible for what you get. Would recommend if you want kbbq at a cheaper price.
google avatar

Rose Q.

Yelp
First off, can't beat their price point for AYCE Korean BBQ. However, the service is sub par -- at least the gentleman who was assigned to us. We watched another section get exemplary service while ours showed up to take our orders 3 times. Twice because we had to hail him over. Food quality is decent. I enjoyed the quality of the beef tongue and brisket. The marinated meats were a little off -- seemed as if some of the marinades may have fermented or the meat was very old which I would find unlikely in a place with that much protein turn over. The banchan was far below average which is usually a highlight for most Korean restaurants. They didn't have sesame oil or samjjang which is also a KBBQ staple!! Overall, a few decent bites. Frustrating service. However for the price point -- would probably return, just hope for a different server when that time comes. PS parking lot is lightly sketchy in the evening due to loitering individuals.
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
Had a great experience here. In comparison to other Korean Buffett's in California, they didn't have as much meat selection and side dishes. But they did have a lot more appetizers and dishes (like fried rice and soup). I didn't care for the salad bar (don't waste your time there). The spare ribs weren't a sweet as I'm use to but still good. I love that they had the head on shrimp and the thinly sliced brisket (that's good with sesame oil and salt/pepper). The service was great! Food came out fast and when an incorrect order was delivered our waitress admit to placing for the wrong table.

Nadia G.

Yelp
Do not eat here if you are gluten free or Celiac. Menu items are incorrectly labeled as gluten free and I got very sick after only eating things on the menu they assured me are gluten free. Workers don't speak English very well and I'm not entirely sure they understood food allergy requirements and severity.

Yelp
Didn't realize there's three ombu grill on the same street! My friend and I went to two different ones until one of us was able to get a table near downtown SLC. We didn't get those small sides when we were seated but we got to order our meats and some sides. The waitress was nice but she kept changing the heat on our table. When she turned the heat low, that was good but then she came by, she thought the stove wasn't cooking fast enough, she turned it high. She kept changing throughout our dinner. I was a bit annoyed but she was really nice to us. When I saw her bringing those Korean sides, I thought wait, how come we didn't get those and these people just arrived. She immediately came over and apologized that she forgot to bring them over. She also offered to bring them if we want them - but that was when we were SO full. We thought the service was good but think maybe the other ombu grill might be better? I don't know... ‍

Yelp
It was so busy for Lunar New Year that I didn't even get our server's name! But criminy was the food excellent! We had a group of 3 with an hour wait, so I made friends with a stranger's group of 4, what an amazing group of friends we made! I truly had an amazing evening, I hope everyone has a wonderful Lunar New Year, eating here might be part of my New Year's tradition!

Avery K.

Yelp
this place used to be so good, until they started using parchment paper. Now the food takes ages to cook, and by the time the grill is hot the paper is burnt to a crisp and your food gets covered in nasty charred paper. if you try and take the paper off and just use the grill like they used to do, they ask you to put the paper back on. It took about 20 minutes instead of 5 to cook pork belly and vegetables. we used to come here once a month but if they're going to be keeping the parchment paper on the grills we probably wont be back. its just too expensive to be worth eating poorly cooked food full of ash. Ombu, please go back to your regular grills!

Paola R.

Yelp
In my life, I return to this place, yesterday decides to go eat there, the waiter did not finish the first order completely and order another order and we waited more than an hour and never served, when I finally tired I was going to ask what is happening because I did not receive the service that According to them, they did not apologize and also for my 9-year-old son charged as an adult. Terrible was neither favorite place but they went from racist because the other tables attended them normal and I did not give me the full water.

Yelp
Coming from California, I've definitely had my fair share of Korean BBQ. Needless to say, this place was pretty authentic and definitely satisfied the cravings! For the price of only $20 for AYCE dinner, the amount of food we ordered was definitely worth it. We tried so many different dishes and meats, but my favorites were the marinated beef tenderloin, fried chicken wings, and marinated pork belly. The soups were also all pretty good and so were the sesame balls and fruit for dessert. The sauces were pretty standard, though my favorite had to be the soy garlic like one. Something that bothered me a bit was that there was little ventilation so when the grill got pretty charred, the smoke was quite unbearable. Overall, I would say this place is worth trying for affordable AYCE KBBQ!
google avatar

Mylan D.

Yelp
Not quite the Korean BBQ experience that I'm used to, but it works well for SLC! Their AYCE menu is affordable at $14.99 for lunch and $19.99 for dinner. It's pretty small and fill up quick so if you're not in before 1pm, you may wait a while. Regular AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants tend to have 15 small plates such as pickled veggies, various kimchee flavored veggies, and potato salad to serve as palette cleansers. There's only 4: kimchee, spicy bean sprouts, over salted potatoes, and steamed broccoli. I love pork belly, but never seen them cut thin sliced in a circle before. Ombu slice all of their meat pretty thin for faster cooking. There's salt, pepper, and some semi sweet Cajun seasoning at the table to add flavor. There's a sauce bar with 5 different choices. My personal favorite is the Ombu house sauce and lemon. The one thing I wish could really be better is their service. The table constantly asked for water, napkins, and to clear our plates. Maybe we're just a little bit more needy, but when you see empty glasses or plates piling up, it's nice for one of the servers to recognize this and take care of it, rather than constantly ask. I'd come back and check out the full menu. There's more options with the dinner menu.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Wasn't expecting to find a kbbq place in Salt Lake City, but this one is actually pretty good. It's AYCE and despite everyone being a Mandarin speaking, the flavors were authentic. Some of the sides like fried rice were more Chinese flavored though. Overall the wait staff was very attentive and the food was delicious. I walked away stuffed. It's in a part of town that was further away from where most of the shopping centers were in SLC but the drive isn't too far.
google avatar

Wynde B.

Yelp
When this place first opened, I couldn't get enough. Now they are slowly going downhill. Food and service is just not the same. They barely give you Bachan, 1/2 teaspoon kimchi which is not good (very soggy) and 2 slices of cucumber kimchi. I am trying to get my money's worth, I am not a child. FEED ME. And what's Korean BBQ without gochujang. They don't even serve it anymore, the sauces they do give you are boring and tasteless. Bring back the old Ombu, I'll remember to bring my sesame oil and gochujang from home next time.
google avatar

Takai B.

Yelp
We were eating tearing that shit up. And we found a cockroach in the BBQ fried rice. They gave our food for free. But it was just the fact they gave to us that was beyond me. I'm black I ain't got time for that on my momma.
google avatar

Travis C.

Yelp
This place has the classic exterior image of "why should I go there" given it's location and facade. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the interior and the value/quality of the food given the cost. The service was OK, could have been a little better. They kept the food coming though and we BBQ'd our brains out, completely satiating our stomachs to the point of gluttony gone wild. We tried just about every protein on the menu and I gotta say the meat was great. Especially the meats that are marinated! Extremely good. We will go back and back again until we have a bad experience.

Yelp
I actually liked everything in their menu. We didn't get the chance to try them all but the ones that really stood out were 1. Takoyaki 2. Salmon fried rice 3. Yakisoba 4. Chicken wings 5. Pork katsu Grilled items 1. Premium beef 2. Shrimp 3. Pork wrapped inoki mushroom Avoid coming here during peak hours as there will be a 2 hour wait. Overall service was acceptable despite being super busy.
