As part of SG60, there was a promotion to visit the science centre and the Omni theatre free. It was a bit confusing though as although the ticket listed this two places as free, you would have to book separately for each movie slot. I learned later that each admission ticket that day could book one movie. However they opened up another queue for walk in admission. And I believed anyone who used the walk in managed to go in. I managed to watch all the films that day except for Stars Dreaming. Animal Kingdom was the most interesting film with nice visuals and interesting facts. Cities of the future was quite a boring one that covered a few cities around the world on the issues of environment sustainability. Some audiences actually walked out of it. Kitz the cat's Secret of the Space Station was the only film with a storyline and also made use of the Onimax effect to make you nauseous and dizzy in a few scenes. It was an animation targeted at children although the theme can be quite dark. It was still educational. I believed it was a Korean production and some dialogues were quite awkward. Overall I would only recommend Animal Kingdom. I found the dome screen rather dim though. But all the pixels on the screen were working fine. The images were not clear and the animal kingdom felt like a low Res film. The theatre is digital 8k though according to the staff. In terms of environment, you need to put up with talking children and eating. Even the mother next to me kept using her hp and I need to tell her about it. Later she started to provide narration to her child. So be prepared to put up with the annoyances of these people. There were a lot of stairs climbing up and down. If you are mobility challenged you could seek help from the staff and gained access via a lift. This theatre along with the science centre would be torn down for another new building. Not sure would there be an Omni theatre in the future. Long ago I watched other shows like Grand Canyon, Space walk and diving in the sea. All were good documentaries.

Located at the Science Centre Singapore, the Omni-Theatre is Southeast Asia’s first and only IMAX dome theatre – and it’s an experience that’s truly out of this world. From the moment you step into the dome, you know you’re in for something special. The massive 23-meter wide screen curves around your field of vision, fully immersing you in stunning visuals. Whether it’s deep-sea exploration or a journey through space, the clarity and scale make you feel like you’re part of the action. The show lineup changes periodically, but it often features nature documentaries, astronomy journeys, or scientific adventures that are both educational and visually spectacular. The narration is usually crisp and engaging, and the soundtrack enhances the emotional weight of what you see. Seats are angled for optimal viewing, though it’s worth noting that if you’re prone to motion sickness or have neck strain issues, the dome format might feel overwhelming during some scenes. Still, for most visitors — especially families with kids or science enthusiasts — the experience is exhilarating.

Interesting documentary movie- kids like animal kingdom. As it has dome screen, recommend to seat in the center of back rows to enjoy the full screen.

The visual and sound equipments seems dated. The projection was pretty dimmed and the sound was only coming out from the front. Would be greater experience if had surround or dolby audio. The show was great though.

We made use of the SG60 promotion to get some cheap tickets. First impression of the Omni Theatre was that it looked (and smelt) a little dated. The dome screen was really cool though. However, it was a little disappointing when I realised that the show we were watching (Animal Kingdom) looked like it had a relatively low resolution, compared to screens nowadays which are typically HD. The lack of focus on some of the scenes / the low resolution (I don't know which) made me feel dizzy at some points. That said, my kids enjoyed the Animal Kingdom and the overall experience. The show was narrated in a way that was easy for kids to understand, with beautiful images of nature. Despite there being some areas which could be improved to increase the wow factor, still worth a go for young kids who are interested in the shows (check out the timing / show ahead of time). Getting tickets online were easy and seats were comfortable.

Went to the animals show at 4pm. Projection seemed dim. Colour and detail didn’t jump out at you like what you’d expect from an omnimax show. There was also a portion of the screen that had a yellow cast. Rather disappointing.

Omnimax theater is one of the best place for movies like Everest where you can watch at a widescreen. I got my tickets at Klook. Very cool 😎. Visit if you can. Open up your eyes and see the world in a different light . You will enjoy. Not only the theater, snow city, kidstop, science center is just next to the theater. Moreover there is a Indian restaurant Phoenix there too for meals. The annual pass is very worth too. The kids will like it. There is also rock climbing activity too. There’s car parks readily available too.

The projector has been change to a new projector. It is not 8k. Image blurry and brightness of the projector is poor. I prefer the old projector. Very disappointed.

Before there were 4D rides and IMAX cinemas, we had the omnitheatre. I grew up watching shows at the omnitheatre and apart from the IMAX, the best part of it is that the seats move and spins you around to make you feel like you in the show, flying over a mountain or diving in the sea or plunging down the waterfall. outside the theatre you can also see the machinery responsible for the projection and what not. absolutely worth going at least once in your life. Wonder when the science centre moves, will they have an omnitheatre at the new premise. I sure hope so
