18 Places That Celebrate Glorious Beer

"Walk into a church on Sturegatan street in the Swedish municipality of Sundbyberg, and you’ll find a very special service. No, not mass: bar service. Welcome to Omnipollo’s Church (Omnipollos kyrka). It all began in 2008, when a few friends started brewing beer together at home in what they called Sundbybergs köksbryggeri (The Sundbyberg Kitchen Brewery). Their original “brewery” was, as the name suggests, a household kitchen. But it wasn’t long before the budding beer entrepreneurs had outgrown their humble digs, and found themselves on the hunt for a new location. The brewers aimed for a basement that could house 110-gallon (500-liter) equipment, but no such place could be found. Then came an unlikely suggestion: Why not use the neighborhood’s old, empty church? There was only one question: how to support the complex requirements of modern brewing in a setting more fit for consecration than fermentation? So began a serious renovation project. The brewers decided to increase their capacity, replacing the old church’s floors, installing drains, and bringing in brewing equipment that could handle up to 330 gallons (1,500 liters). Last but not least, a bar was created in the elevated galleries of the church, where an organ or choir may have sat previously. Sundbyberg Kitchen Brewery was running out of their church for a few years but in 2021 the brewery Omnipollo took over. Today, Omnipollos kyrka offers a unique environment in which to grab a casual drink. From the elevated bar, you can sip a beer and look down on the brewery nestled in what was once the nave. In the future, the owners hope to up the aesthetic experience even more by adding an on-premises art museum." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Quality beer with a fresh perspective. I enjoyed this place for its excellent beer selection and unique atmosphere. It’s housed in an old church that’s been converted into a bar a one of a kind experience I hadn’t had before. There’s plenty of space, whether you’re visiting solo or with a group, making it a great spot for any kind of outing. You can pick up one of their available group games and play along some beers. The bar also offers food and to my surprise the burgers were really good. I also loved the fries which you could order as extra.

I guess you could say that this is a cultural experience from multiple points of view. Quality beer and one of the first in the craft scene outside the US. That alone is worth the visit. Secondly, it's housed in an old church that's been converted into a bar. Don't know if there are any other places like this anywhere. The whole neighborhood is nice, bringing lots of good vibes. Worth the visit.

Outstanding beer from swedens most infamous. Friendly staff, cosy fitout, limited access to merchandise options, beer is excellent of course however the food is grossly over seasoned they really need to get in control of that. Maybe the salt and pepper shaker is broken but all meals tonight are the most over seasoned food items I’ve eaten out this year. Honestly I cannot believe someone would dump this much salt onto their burgers so consistently. Edit for clarity: Beer is a 5, Food is 4 star, burgers are 2 star max

Omnipollos kyrka is a former missionary church in Sundbyberg. The nave—the central longitudinal part of the church (in Swedish långhus / mittskepp)—now houses the brewhouse. The bar was moved up to the läktare (gallery, [ˈlɛkːtarɛ]). When Omnipollo moved in, there was still an orgel (organ, [ˈɔrːjɛl]) in the corner—and it’s still there.

Absolutely amazing beers! A paradise for IPA lovers. Let me review based on different aspects - 1. Beers - As I write above, absolutely amazing! IPAs are awesome. Although I expected a wider range of beers considering it was a brewery yet they were just enough to delight our taste buds! Strongly recommend to try Omnipollos hatt, Tokyo rice IPA and Levon - Belgian Ale. Beware of the prices - beers here are expensive - 120-130 Sek range. 2. Food - Do not expect too many food options. We just ordered a couple of snack items and they were good. The place was understaffed so it took long time to order and get the food. 3. Ambience and vibe - Ambience and vibe was good.

Loved it. The beer is amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our brewery tour and tasting. The menu for food is simple but the burgers we had were good quality and served promptly. However, the system for being served at the bar really needs some thought as it was slow and inefficient. We felt that some table service would have taken the pressure off and made the customer experience more enjoyable. Would we go back, yes! Would we go back on a Friday evening no!

Had a burger at Omnipollos Kyrka. The atmosphere is lively, but it was extremely hot inside and there’s a strong beer smell. The smash burger was okay. Seating isn’t comfortable, so it’s more of a quick eat-and-go place. Also, the “non-alcoholic” option didn’t seem truly 0.0%—ask before ordering. Overall, I wouldn’t come back.

Great beer. That's enough, but the former church setting is something you'll probably not find anywhere else
