The Best Affordable Hotels in Tokyo

"Neighborhood: AkasakaPrice: From $153 per night When it comes to business travel, the OMO3 is a given. The slim, efficient rooms are outfitted with clever designs, like a headboard that transforms into a couch as it stretches beyond the bed. Each room also comes with a range of toiletries and comforts that rival luxury stays: an air purifier, humidifier, refrigerator, and pajamas are just some of the surprises you'll find in your room. The lobby doubles as a planning zone where guests can lounge and scope out a mural full of neighborhood recommendations (QR codes are available to learn more in English)." - Paris Wilson

30 Best Hotels in Tokyo for Every Budget | Condé Nast Traveler

"Structurally, the OMO3 reads like a business hotel, with slim, efficient rooms, but there’s a lot of soul in the small touches—designer bath products, adorable pillows and subtle design flourishes. The little lobby doubles as a planning zone where guests can lounge and scope out a mural full of neighborhood recommendations (QR codes are available to learn more in English). The premise of the OMO hotels is simple: graded from 1 to 9, each property promises a different level of accoutrement; the OMO3, in this case, slides more toward the no-frills end of the spectrum but plenty of comfort is still on offer." - Brandon Presser

OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka by Hoshino Resorts

"Why book? The best it gets for cheap digs souped up with cheerful service and great access to the surrounding neighborhood and beyond. Set the scene Structurally, it reads like a business hotel, with slim, efficient rooms, but there’s a lot of soul in the small touches—designer bath products, adorable pillows and subtle design flourishes. The little lobby doubles as a planning zone where guests can lounge and scope out a mural full of neighborhood recommendations (QR codes are available to learn more in English). The backstory The premise of the OMO hotels is simple: graded from 1 to 9, each property promises a different level of accoutrement; the OMO3, in this case, slides more toward the no-frills end of the spectrum but plenty of comfort is still on offer. Rooms Clever design—like a headboard that transforms into a couch as it stretches beyond the bed—enlivens ergonomic spaces in this bright, budget fave. Food & drink Breakfast is served in the cafe next door; it may sound strange, but the thick-cut toast is spectacular. Neighborhood Akasaka, or red hill, has had many lives before its current incarnation as a bustling business district—it was once the domain of several prominent samurai families, and a thriving hanamachi, or geisha area. Today the neighborhood comes alive on OMO’s “Ranger Tours”; staff-led outings that take travelers to hidden shrines, shops and even a secret tea salon run by a former geisha. Hour-long tours are the outcome of six months of meticulous research by the OMO employees. Service Big smiles come standard at any Hoshino Resorts property; and while much of the clientele is Japanese, we’re hoping for a sprinkle of English for international Hoshino converts." - Brandon Presser

We absolutely loved our stay at OMO3 Akasaka. After a lot of deliberation we chose this hotel for the central location, decent price, and good reviews. The room: We booked a twin room and found the size to be adequate for our needs. The beds and pillows were comfortable but what I really loved was the plush comforter. The hotel provided everything you might need for a comfortable stay even including pajamas. The staff came in every day and refreshed the beds, emptied the trash, and provided new towels, which was much appreciated. I did not use the tub but my mother did and commented on how wonderful it was, as well as how incredibly clean it was. The hotel: the hotel was very nice and quiet. The staff greeted us and said goodbye every time we passed. The attached cafe serves great food and coffee! There is a laundry room with two washers and dryers. You can download an app which connects to the machines so you can pay from your phone and also see how much time is left from your phone. The area: this is a great central area that provides access to three train lines which made navigating Tokyo very easy and quick. There are tons of restaurants within walking distance to the hotel as well as a 7eleven just across the street. There is also a drug store just a couple doors down that has drinks, snacks, body/hair/skincare, beauty, vitamins/medicines, and so much more! Overall we had a great stay and would definitely consider staying here again!

Nothing fancy and the rooms are small but that's normal for Tokyo but it's cute and clean and the bathroom was great. It was just right for our one night stay over. Great location and lots of food options nearby and 7-Eleven is right outside. Make sure to stop by Hie Shrine which is minutes away on foot. The staff was friendly and helpful. :)

I stayed at this hotel with five other people for a family vacation. This a nice hotel and has a boutique feel. I would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity. Also great location within walking distance to either the C or M lines, green and red. These lines will get you to other lines and areas in Tokyo.

Google
This is a functional hotel probably aimed at the business traveler and therefore not so cosy and welcoming. However, the staff are very helpful and use translators to communicate which was much appreciated. The location is good for transport links with places to eat/shop nearby and the room size is pretty good for Tokyo. We had a queen room which we found ok for a short stay - no streaming services available and the only sink being next to the tv was not ideal.

Google
We stayed a total of 4 nights and it was great! The location connects really well to the metro and there’s loads of great restaurant options close by. The amenities were really good and the staff were friendly. As most hotels in Tokyo, the rooms are small but very well configured so they don’t feel too cramped. Would recommend and stay again in future!

The self service was a bit wonky and staff was present the entire time. I wish they’d checked me in themselves behind a desk the traditional way. The place was very clean and up-to-date but the room was SUPER tiny and poor layout wasted a lot of valuable space. The toilet and shower each get their own room. And a sink directly under the tv on the limited counter space. There was barely any space for my luggage. If you’re only using the hotel to sleep, the place is chill. If you’re hoping to have a nice space to unwind/relax, maybe not the best place.

Great locations. Near many restaurants. 7/11 is nearby. If you have to ship luggages at 7/11, very convenient. Room is small if you have international luggages. They give you new towels and PJs everyday. You can also open the window for fresh air. I wish there was a closet. They only have drawers. I love the spray they offered for your clothes. Keeps them fresh and not smelly. Big restroom. Lobby area is small. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

Fantastic location! I really can’t say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff are. There was an employee working in the early evening 10/6, long hair, I wish I would’ve gotten her name. She was helpful the entire time we were there. Every time we needed a taxi, she would write in Japanese the location we were going. When we had an issue with a pharmacy, she directed us to another one and wrote down what we needed. Everyone here was just phenomenal. I can’t recommend this place enough. It was also very clean. I loved how they provided you with pajamas every day. Thank you so much! I hope to come stay again
