What an amazing experience we had. The dining experience was unique, intimate and truly amazing. If there was ever an opportunity for you to eat here, do it. I could not fault a single dish. And eating in a small intimate setting with your jackets being placed in one of the cars was quirky. It isn't cheap, but you get the full experience. Each course is explained to you. The food is sourced with alot care and thought including sourcing ingredients from locals gardens which I loved. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a special and different dining experience. Putting aside the cost, this was excellent. Go with a couple of friends to truly enjoy the experience.

Such a wonderful experience. Sophie and Lachlan show great respect for local ingredients, Japanese food and us, their customers. The location also adds further atmosphere to the whole experience.

Walk behind the Lexus building and there is an innocuous door which will lead you to a very unique, intimate and beautiful dining experience. Lachlan and Sophie are perfect hosts and the conversations that occur between them and the guests really make the night special. The food is incredible and the fact that some of the cooking occurs right in front of you is fantastic. Sophie and Lachlan's explanation of Japanese culture, the dishes and crockery just adds to the experience. Loved the sake and tea pairing. So glad that we were able to experience this.

Omotenashi is so much more than a meal, it is an unforgettable experience. On approach, you'll spot the architecturally designed Lexus building, turn into the unassuming laneway and be greeted by Lachlan and Sophie at the door and ushered into a moody, modern space. While waiting for the show to start, wander around the dealership and enjoy delicious tea in the company of luxury cars. Take your spot at the intimate 10-seat U-shaped bench and be treated to the chefs' expert explanation of the intricate dishes and thoughtfully paired tea and sake. A combination of the freshest, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and imported Japanese elements, this degustation journey over ~3.5 hours was as entertaining as it was delicious. The careful curation of local and Japanese ceramics (and abalone shell spoons!) were all part of the show, with every minute detail thought through. The evening concluded with Sophie lighting incense and shaping origami cranes for all the guests. It was quite fabulous. 11/10 cherry blossoms.

Craziest experience ever. The food was so so yummy. You get looked after so nicely. The cold brewed teas were very special. Insights into what was being served made it very interesting. I’ve never had such a cool dinner.

Everything was perfect! Thank you to Sophie and Lachlan for their incredible service which was full of thoughtful gestures and beautiful little touches. Watching them move around their space and prepare our dishes was a pleasure in itself. Also the collection of plates, cups, bowls etc was incredible. Every bite and sip was absolutely delicious.

This was an amazing experience. I was a little nervous as I’m not the most adventurous eater but everything was just beautiful. Food I haven’t eaten before yet so delicious. Small setting, great service, everyone was so nice. Definitely recommend if you want a unique dining experience. And it’s a lot of food, you will not leave hungry.

Amazing experience. Some of the best food in Hobart, and probably some of the best Japanese food in Australia. The experience is very cool but one thing I will say is it’s probably not somewhere you’d want to go with a group as it’s a very quiet experience and feels sort of serious
