Omotesando Ukai Tei is next-level amazing. Opted for the seasonal course, and every dish was straight fire thoughtfully crafted, beautifully plated, and packed with flavor. But the real star is the main course. That beef was absolute perfection seared just right, insanely tender, and literally melted in my mouth. You can tell the chef is on another level with the precision and skill. Beyond the food, the whole vibe is classy yet cozy, with top-tier service that makes the experience even better. Definitely a must try if you’re in Tokyo. 100% totally worth it, and I’d go back in a heartbeat!💕

Google
just out of words to describe the food and the whole experience. it just blew my mind. One of the best restaurants that I ate at in Japan. Got to try abalone for the first time. Chef was very fun and put on a good show. A separate room with a view of Shibuya to enjoy the dessert.

Omotesando Ukai-tei is not only renowned for its Michelin-star status but also highly praised for its exquisite teppanyaki craftsmanship, premium ingredient selection, unique dining ambiance, and attentive service. It has successfully elevated traditional teppanyaki cuisine to the level of fine dining, offering guests an extraordinary culinary experience. Dinner is highly recommended, as the quality of the dishes is significantly superior to that of lunch.

Google
This is by far the best teppanyaki I experienced. The service was impressive. They were attentive and friendly services make the whole experience even better. The food was phenomenal. They have a separate room for dessert and coffee after your meal. The view was stunning and the outdoor patio was a bonus. Nicely decked out restaurant. It does come with a very high price tag, but definitely worth it.

Google
Amazing teppanyaki experience in Tokyo! I had a Wagyu steak course meal that included an appetizer, soup, seafood, and dessert. It cost around 30,000 yen per person. It’s quite pricey, but worth it.

Greatly enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner here. The food was amazing, staff extremely hospitable and ambiance one of a kind! Our chef Mogi-san was the absolute best! We rolled out of the restaurant worried about our cholesterol but wonderfully joyful.

Google
Stunning restaurant. We were lucky that we were able to make a same day reservation by our hotel concierge. It’s a pricy meal but unforgettable food and service. We upgraded our meat course to Kobe beef which was amazing. It’s a lot of food, so come hungry! Dessert is served in another room just of note.

Yelp
We arrived a little earlier than the reserved time. They offered to wait for the table to be ready in the waiting room. This waiting room/lounge was beautiful. They brought delicious tea and oshibori (smells like yuzu) for 5 minutes of the wait. Very pleasant already. It is very nice that they offer private dining. Each room has its own teppanyaki table and a chef. They showed us all the fresh ingredients they use for today's dinner, and cooked them right in front of us. For desserts, they took us to a beautiful tea lounge that was separated from the dining room (they don't serve a dessert at the dining table). I asked if this tea lounge was publicly open, and they said no. This lounge was exclusively for guests who enjoyed dinner with them. Food was delicious, and their service was impeccable. This is beautiful restaurant to bring your guests (you can be your own guest, too). I would love to be back here soon. 5 Stars

Yelp
Atmosphere 5/5 Service 7/5 Food 2/5 Extremely disappointed for the price. Let me explain. For a high end high priced Teppanyaki restaurant I expect superior quality food and service. The service was impeccable. Incredibly friendly and professional. No details left unchecked. I came for the food however, specifically the Wagyu beef and I can honestly say it was a 1/5. The meat was chewy and lacked the flavour of high quality wagyu. Before I even tried the meat it was obvious that I wouldn't enjoy it because the chef was having a hard time cutting through the meat. As for the rest of the food, the sushi was very good, but the other courses lacked flavour. Presentation was obviously excellent as expected. However, I left feeling ripped of because the beef tasted like something I would buy at a mid range supermarket. PS. The dessert was amazing

Yelp
wait till the abalone - Favorite meal US$200 for wagyu, abalone, firefly Squid sashimi, and wagyu welli I booked this restaurant for my mom and I 2 months before our trip since I really wanted to have teppanyaki. So glad I did! Found out after reading reviews that it books up really quick If you don't want to splurge $200 for this course (we chose the cheapest wagyu option which was already fatty and delicious), you can book for lunch Once you walk into the restaurant, you're greeted by beautiful antique vases & chandeliers, carved wooden pillars, antique vases from 1300s, and beautifully decorated flowers & living room The menu included: -chefs appetizers - caviar with a warm hotcake + seasonal peas & vegetables - bamboo shoot with wagyu - abalone in sea salt, kelp, & butter (the most tender abalone I had in my life. They cook the organs down into the butter) - firefly Squid sashimi - local veggie somen (thin noodle) - fried wagyu beef - garlic fried rice & miso soup - desserts - we picked yuzu gelato and matcha strawberry parfait (super crunchy , and packed with flavor) It was such an impressive meal, the chef was very patient with us and explained every dish I'll be back next time!

Yelp
A huge disappointment! Our group of eight made reservations for the private room at 7pm. We got there early to enjoy a before dinner drinks at the bar. At 6:15pm the martre'd came over and insisted that we start dinner now. There was three choices on the set menu, everyone have to be on the same choice. We choose the most expensive set. Before we even order wine, the first dish was in front of us. Within an hour and a half we were done eating and was escorted out to public area for deserts. For $450usd pp., this was not the experience that we expected. The two stars was generous, only because the food was really good. But the overall dinning experience was undesirable!

Yelp
This is long due review of one of the restaurants I visit pre-pandemic. The restaurant is located in a very busy and high end area of Japan. When walked in, me and my wife was greeted by the hostess and quickly lead us to our table. Food wise everything is top quality and cooking method is on the spot. Price wise it is a bit pricy but giving the location, food quality and service it is justified. The reason for the missing star is there is no surprise factor throughout the meal. Everything is expected as is. When we visit the high end dinning, I am often looking for something out of expectation and creativity. This restaurant is a good one for a fancy date, but from the way food was cooked and presented, there is nothing exceeded our expectations.

Yelp
Everything about the dining experience was spectacular! There was a bar once you walk in where the rest of our party waited, since our taxi got lost finding the restaurant. The hostess was really nice though and waited patiently for us, even though we were pretty late for our reservation. Our reservation was only for 4 people, but they gave us a private room, which was really nice. We had a main waitress who took care of us, but there were others who came in and out to refill our waters, clean up our table, etc. Our chef prepared most of the dishes in front of us, and seeing that we liked taking pictures, he always reminded us to get our phones ready before he did something cool. My favorite part was dessert, which was served in another room. Our waitress directed us to the dessert lounge at the end of the meal, which had an outdoor balcony with a nice view of the city. The couple behind us used the beautiful setting to propose! As for the food, the quality, taste, and preparation were amazing. The wagyu beef was delicious, and minimal seasoning was enough to bring out the flavor. The garlic fried rice at the end was probably my favorite. The desserts were also done amazingly and included in the meal, along with petit fours. I got the mont-blanc, which was beautiful and tasty. Overall, the ambiance, experience, food, and service were phenomenal. A must try if you're in Tokyo!

Yelp
Let me preface this by stating that there are very high points for this restaurant, but I felt that the lows did not overcome the highs in order to make it better than average. Service: 5 stars Quality of food: 5 stars Flavor of food: overall, 3 stars The highlights of the meal were the first course (lobster with a beautiful crema on top) and the perfectly cooked wagyu steak. The abalone was also good, though it was a little on the bland side due to the sauce that came with it. Where things went wrong: the desserts were tasteless and too many of them. The white asparagus with prosciutto paled in comparison to the "no name" french restaurant that we had 2 days prior. The foie was excellent quality but super loose and the sauce all over it was too sweet. Also, the martini I ordered was gross - dirty martini with citrus is a no go I felt the experience was too "stuffy" for me and the taste of the food was not enough to bring me back.

Yelp
Once we were welcomed, we sat in the waiting area (like a rich person's living room) until they called us to our table. We sat down with the rest of the guests in a long half circle table where individual chef stand behind a teppanyaki grill. We already got the Abalone and Ukai Selected Beef Course pre-fix menu so everything was already ordered. Since we forgot what was on the menu, we couldn't wait to see what came out! Beautifully presented were small prawn marinated in jelly, fois gras, bonito marinated, steamed abalone, chilled onion soup, kobe beef and steamed rice with baby shrimp. Some of the dishes were prepared in the kitchen and some were right in front of us. Our own personal chef was nice enough to explain everything in English. All the food was exceptional and we were stuffed! But just when we thought the meal was over, they took us to another room, just to eat desserts! We had a choice of a blueberry chiffon cake and a melon ice cream so we got both for 2 people. They also came around with a dessert cart which we got to choose from petit fours. We ate everything including tea and coffee gazing into the skyline. While the meal was amazing, it was definitely the most I personally ever paid in 1 sitting which ended up to be about $250 (US). While the experience was fantastic, this was only going to happen very rarely and on vacation!

Yelp
We wanted to eat at Ukai Tei without breaking the bank, especially since we had a couple of expensive meals planned during our stay in Japan, so lunch seemed like a decent option. At just over ¥13,000 per person, it was more manageable. Definitely need a reso here. We were lucky to get a lunch reservation on a Monday, booked 5 days in advance. The food was mostly excellent in itself but the experience was enhanced by the view and service. We were served by the "maestro". Watching him prep and make the food was a treat. It was a 6 course lunch meal. I didn't care much for the sweet corn soup to open the lunch. One of the stand-outs for me was the salmon which was probably one of the best cooked salmon I've ever had with the crispiest of skins. Another memorable dish was, of course, the A-5 wagyu. For the wagyu, they had Saga beef which they recommended medium rare. The beef was melt in your buttery goodness. The marbling was so damn pretty, I felt bad about cooking and eating it. They took us to another room for tea/ dessert. Quite a lot of choices were presented by a lady with a cart and they were mostly all good. Many types of small sized cookies, macaroons, cakes etc - though surprisingly not a lot of traditional stuff. We tried to sample as much as we could, but we were full. Overall, I would say that the lunch was definitely worth the money though I don't know if I would feel the same way if I spent almost twice as much on dinner. Don't expect the dishes to be super innovative. They are mostly just classic dishes done very well.

Yelp
Excuse my language, but this was f** amazing!! Reservations needed in Advance but very worth it. We got the most expensive meal set + alcohol and it came out to be only $140 ish per person. Dish breakdowns below: 1. Hamachi appetizer - beautifully decorated and refreshing light start. 2. Crab chowder - SO light yet flavorful!! I love how this was creamy without being heavy and there were plenty of large crab chunks. 3. Lobster - served with sweet potato, lobster bisque sauce and balsamic reduction. 6/5!! Lobster was so fresh it was still moving on the grill. 4. Wagyu - served with sweet onion, ponzu, and wasabi cream sauce. Also 6/5 - best meat I've had in my life. 5. Garlic fried rice - rice was so fluffy and carefully cooked. It was paired with a veggie side dish and seaweed soup. 6. Dessert (we picked strawberry and hazelnut cakes) - very light and delicious. They also offer unlimited additional mini desserts from a cart + coffee/tea. Decor was fantastic - we had our own private room for 4 ppl and the servers + chef were great. We hope to cone back!

Yelp
Fantastic food. Excellent service. Beautiful restaurant. I could hardly believe my experience here. I highly recommend this location and the location near Tokyo Tower.

Yelp
This is on the fifth floor of a compact shopping complex. Don't worry, you're in the right area. The abalone here was great quality and I'd definitely recommend choosing one of the course with it included. Everything is presented with refinement and in surprisingly generous portions. Dessert is served in a separate lounge area away from the teppanyaki. The meat was smooth and fatty, The food here was great, service was great and the decor was very luxe, but pricey for Tokyo. At this price point, I would recommend paying a little more and heading to Ishigaki Yoshida instead if you're someone who isn't in Tokyo often and want a once in a lifetime experience.

Yelp
One of my favourite spots for a teppanyaki lunch in Tokyo. All the dishes are wonderful and you'll get both a fish dish and a meat dish. Obviously, the meat is the star here... simply amazing. I also enjoy the end of meal bonus that they give: you move to their "tea room" for a dessert, a bunch of extra little goodies, and coffee or tea. A lovely way to end the meal.

Yelp
Ukai-Tei Omotesando is far from the cheesy entertainment and cheap shoyu glitter of Western-style teppanyaki; the atmosphere at Ukai-Tei is relaxing and the teppan chefs take pride in their craft with elegance and refinery. Only a few courses are actually prepared table front by the teppan chef; the majority of the dishes are prepared in the unseen kitchen. I get the merchant house décor, but it didn't do it for me as it tries too hard to be fancy shmancy and exudes late 1990s over-the-top excess. On the other hand, the dining room's floor to ceiling glass windows allows for great natural lighting and I can only imagine how the atmosphere changes in the evening. We had the special prix fixe at 24,000 yen per person and upgraded our meat to the premium selection for an additional 4,800 yen per person. Overall, the courses were good and well executed, but the menu seemed dated and tasted like 1997. There were less than a handful of standouts. White asparagus and clam - simple, subtle, and I loved the juicy and meaty texture of the asparagus, which I found to be much more interesting than the clam. Foie Gras and bamboo - thick sweet glaze of the foie gras really compliments the earthiness of the bamboo. Tenderloin filet - Wow, just wow. A5 BMS10+ Ukai-Tei wagyu. Our teppan chef prepared it as he described in a roast beef style, grilling slowly and evenly on each side, then covering it for a bit. The finished product was luscious slices of gloriously marbled and succulent roast beef with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that tastes like rich meat butter. Sakura ebi rice - I'm not a rice eater, but holy heck, this was probably the best seasoned rice I've had. The sakura ebi are bursting with this brightness and sweetness that plays so perfectly with the rice and soup. Service is good but a little old-school stuffy. On the other hand, our teppan chef was very amiable and enthusiastic, seemingly taking pleasure in answering all of our questions and explaining his precise preparation methods with each course. After the meal guests are escorted to a dessert parlor, which was nice and kind of cute, but the desserts themselves were forgettable. Sure, the beef and seasoned rice were by far the BEST I've ever had, but most of the courses were just alright so I definitely have no intentions of returning on a future trip. I've enjoyed better meals at $300+ a person, and we could have gone to French Laundry for dinner at that price point. I'd recommend just ordering the premium beef ala carte, if anything.

Yelp
Lovely experience from arrival to departure. Spread out over three lovely rooms to really soak in the entire experience. The menu has some wonderful esoteric ingredients and the teppenaki presentation is fabulous. Yet I must say sadly the quality of the cooking is an afterthought. A lot of salt hid the delicate refinement of the these ingredients and made for more tougher proteins
