Upon reaching the parking lot of this restaurant, you can see why it's called On The Docks. Beautiful harbor view with water and sail boats, the environment is very calming. The interior design is also somewhat nautical with its color scheme and decorations. Staring out the large windows on a beautiful day is really a treat. Our group of seven certainly enjoyed the atmosphere.
As for the food, we were able to share a bunch of different dishes from the menu. Honestly nothing too special, but also nothing bad either, so mostly middle of the road. My favorites were probably the Shrimp Po'Boy and French Dip Sandwich. The Baked Grouper, Potato Gnocchi, and Rueben were all decent. I didn't try the salmon, but my friend said that it was great, and it was a huge portion.
Our servers were very friendly and have the sharpest ears ever. They heard what we needed and fulfilled our needs quickly. The only unfortunate thing was that they weren't able to come by as often when the restaurant got busy, therefore our glasses were often left empty.
What I have come to realize about the far east on Long Island is that there are many beautiful restaurants that offer average food, but always provide nice decor and solid service. Usually the prices are a bit high, but the portion sizes are also quite reasonable. On The Docks follows that exact formula and I don't hate them for it.
