On The Rocks

We have ordered indian food, overall taste waa okay not that great. Service also not that great. Looks like they were only focusing on foreigners. Need to call 10 times for small small things. But can appreciate the atmosphere and ambience.

We had a fantastic meal at this Jodhpur restaurant. The decor was beautiful, featuring water bodies, enclosed and open seating areas and small decorative touches throughout. We opted for the indoor seating due to the heat. For starters, we enjoyed their spicy and delicious murgh angaare tikka and the tasty Darjeeling chicken dumplings. The main course consisted of OTR chicken in a white gravy with a hint of spice and laal maas, which was the standout dish. Their breads were incredibly soft and well-made. We also tried their noodles delivered to our hotel, which came with various condiments and were equally satisfying.

Anuj loves food. When visiting new places, when 'googling', along with places of attractions, etc, he also googles for 'best chaat in ( place to be visited)', etc. Another good source is the driver of the local taxi you have hired for the duration of the trip. From these sources, for Jodhpur, we got Shahi for Samosa, Surya for Kaochri, Chaturbhuj for Gulabjamun, Janta for Ghaver, Gypsy for Rajasthani Thali, and On the Rocks for Lal Mas (Red Mutton). Believe you me, we tried everything, and it seemed that the sources were not lying. Now it was the turn of 'On the Rocks' for Lal Mas. Located in a single-story block of about 10 odd shops with a frontage of only about 10 feet, sandwiched between Kanchhi Jewellers and GS Art and Craft shops, 'On the Rocks' did not look impressive at all. Looks were deceptive. Like an iceberg, it showed much less than what it hid. Once you enter, first sight to greet you is an impressive artificial 10 odd feet waterfall from the wall built of big rough rock blocks. The Pintails, the Red Stone Cafe, and the Tipsy Buffalo Bar, in fact, the whole place is built using only big blocks of rock. Maybe the reason for its name. Thereafter, the property is fairly large. An open courtyard large enough to accommodate 15 to 20 tables, accommodating four diners. It serves as an open-air dining hall. There are a large number of huge 20 years plus- old trees and other plants and giving shade and a very good, close-to-nature ambience to this open-air dining hall. Sounds of bird calls and Chirping of birds further added to this close-to-nature feel. Only after a little while, you realise that these bird sounds are recordings. Lowering the volume may extend the make-believe close to nature feel. During the time of our visit, mid-November, it was very pleasant, and we decided to enjoy our lal-mas in the open dining hall. For starters, we had Mixed Non-Veg Platter and Bruschetta. For the meal we had, Jeera Rice, Tandoor Roti, Dal Tadka, Chicken Curry, and of course the Lal Mas. The starters were quite good, and so was the rest of the food. Lal- Mas deserved and stood up to its fame. The service was good.

On the rocks is quite a popular restaurant and comes up as the most recommended on social media. From the outside it seems like a simple restaurant but the inside is so beautiful. They have various sections and offer different types of cuisine. The ambiance was lovely and the staff was polite and courteous. We ordered the traditional rajasthani fare of lal maas and jeera rice. We absolutely loved the dishes. The meat was slow cooked in ghee which was very evident in the rich taste. Definitely recommend this place. We also tried the honey chilli potato which was good as well.

We tried a lot of restaurants in Jodhpur but kept coming back to this. The food is absolutely on point. We ordered Paneer ke Soole, which had a unique mix of Rajasthani spices, followed up with the Laal Maans, which was also delicious, albeit a bit chewy. We finished off with the warm brownie and ice cream which was simply divine. The service can be a bit slow though, so make sure to order early. Also, we had to wait for about 20-30 minutes to get seated in their outdoors courtyard, which has the perfect ambience. This place is highly recommended for anyone visiting Jodhpur.

⭐️⭐️ (2/5) The ambience at On The Rocks, Ajit Bhawan is undoubtedly its highlight. The setting is elegant, atmospheric, and thoughtfully designed — it truly gives the impression of a 5-star property. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not match the surroundings. The food was below average in taste, quality, quantity, and flavours. Dishes lacked depth and refinement, and the portions felt insubstantial for the price point. Overall, the meal was disappointing and fell far short of expectations for a restaurant of this stature. Service was adequate but unremarkable. While staff were courteous, the attentiveness and efficiency expected in such a premium environment were missing. It felt more like a 3-star service experience in a 5-star ambience. In summary, On The Rocks is worth visiting if you want to enjoy the ambience, but if you are seeking a memorable culinary experience, the food and service leave much to be desired.

A superbly designed place, where u can actually sir anywhere and end up taking photographs. Menu covers most of indian & italian cuisines with enough chinese & continental dishes too. Food is pretty good, caters for all palates but still doesn't match the ambience. Service is about okay though the time we visited most of the staff wasn't occupied, still they take time. Prices aren't balanced with few dishes priced quite less but few badly overpriced and inaccurately described in the menu.

The establishment offers a curated aesthetic that, regrettably, serves only as a facade for a mediocre kitchen and hurried service. To be presented with mouth fresheners mid-meal—an unsubtle nudge toward the exit—was a tactless display of "table turnover" over genuine hospitality. Style is no substitute for substance, nor for the grace one expects at this level.
