Food is a bit slow to come out, but it tasted decent to me and the portions were large enough to make everyone feel full. Also the garlic bread was one of the best garlic breads I've ever had. It's also in the middle of the rainforest, so has a very nice ambiance. When we were there and the sun went down there were some bugs swarming the lights, but the servers mentioned that's not very common, and the bugs went away again after ~30 minutes

The servers are great and the environment is good too. Unfortunately the food is a let down, given the price level. Appreciate it is difficult to cater in the rainforest but I think it can be improved. The presentation is good but there is way too much miso on the grilled aubergine. The second lamb shank dish just had boiled vegetables stacked on top with no flavour. The potatoes were not cooked and the meat was tough.

This is a very nice restrauent and the hiking paths down to the river and the river were excellent. We also stopped for lunch which was excellent a well. If you want you can swim in the river!

Stayed at the Heritage Lodge and booked dinner at ‘On the Turps’. One of the best meals I’ve had in years! Ordered Kangaroo with mash and veggies, and cannelloni. Beautifully presented, perfectly cooked! Photos do not do it justice! Breakfast was also delicious and COVID prepared.

A lovely setting in a lush jungle environment. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in a classic FNQ rainforest then this is a gem. Don’t go there expecting an extensive menu of Michelin Star dishes because this isn’t that. What it is is a small range of simple well prepared dishes, using quality produce, which are better than anything else I’ve tried in the Daintree area.

I really enjoyed my barramundi for lunch! Flavourful and fresh!

It’s just a run down tourist trap that unsuspecting tourists who signed up to local rainforest tours are ushered to for a poor attempt at lunch. I still didn’t mind it until my family ran into a bit of family emergency and needed wifi for 5 mins but the wait crew (which was made of fruit picking visa holders foreign students/kids) said “oh we can’t give it to you unless the lady at the front desk says yes” and when I went up to her she just plain ignored me for 5 minutes and pretended to look busy. When she finally decided to engage she said “you can talk to me all you want but unless you are staying at our “hotel” I won’t be giving you wifi”. Poor attitude. Seems to hate her life running this business. Reflects in the food.

Had dinner on a Sunday in June. Nice ambience and pleasant staff. Limited menu....my wife had duck - very nice. Regrettably I chose the kangaroo - nicely seared but raw in the middle and tough overall. Inedible, so sent it back. Chef tried again but not much better. I didn't re-order and we weren't charged for this meal. I know kangaroo can be a challenge to cook, but have had far better. Probably better not on the menu. Wine list was very average (eg Wolf Blass red label) and coffee was just the instant granulated. I imagine running a restaurant in that part of the world is economically challenging. This restaurant was in a resort so they probably had to have one. Not my call but maybe a new strategy needed?

Yelp
On the Turp Restaurant is within the lush, vibrant greenery of the Daintree Rainforest. We visited for lunch and we were in the heart of nature. I had the barramundi, which I suspect was caught fresh that morning. The simplicity of its preparation allowed me to taste the freshness of the fish. All around was the symphony of the forest with all the critters talking and singing. Amazing!
