On The Walk

Beautiful rooms! Very reasonably priced. Great decor. Very clean. Plenty of teas and coffees. Fridge with water. Great location! Loads of space. It's more like a suite so separate rooms. Few issues - too hot! Need to he able to turn the heating off. Although fans are provided. TV - difficult to figure out. I couldn't use Netflix as I needed a pin. Possible could of been sorted with a call or message. Room 7. Mirrors but no sockets near by. Bit of a pain for those who want to blow dry/straighten hair.

Terrible customer service - not worth risking a stay here, despite nice rooms and good location. A metal lampshade fell off the wall and smashed my wife's phone screen on the first night. When we called the hotel they didn't believe us and sent someone round to fix the lampshade but just placed it back on the lamp without screwing it in. We had to fix the screen at a nearby phone shop (£75) which ended up taking hours out of hour short weekend trip. We politely asked them to reimburse the cost of the repair but they refused and have now blocked our phone number. Not good enough.

Beware of this business!! ||All may be well until you need to make changes to your booking. We emailed and called in excess of 20 times only to reach a voicemail which was obviously not monitored. Emails were never responded to. We needed to cancel the first night of our booking and contacted the property numerous times well ahead of their 14 day cut off to no avail. ||I was finally able to speak to someone on the day of our booking. At that stage, we had still not been sent the entry codes. I was told the business had changed hands and they had no record of the bookings. While they then did send us me the entry codes, they have still not refunded the first night's fee. ||I was told that the new owner had to speak to the old owner and they would contact me. I called again the following week. And texted. And called a few weeks later. Then I was told the owner is on holidays in Korea and the person did not know when they will be back. ||If you are thinking of booking with this business, be aware that you are likely to never see your money if you need to make any changes

Well what a find. Nice part of town with lots of coffee shops and bars. Easy to access the city with tram and buses outside. Room was clean and modern but couldn't get the TV to work, only on demand content. The only issue for us was the arrival process as the virtual keys did not work and the telephone number on the email was to someone no longer associated with the premises. The number on the website worked and we were then able to get in. As a property with no staff this bit needs to be faultless and wasn't. Only reason not for the full five stars.

Booked in February for a trip in June, and paid £150 for 2 nights, in advance.|They had a complicated method of entry as it is not staffed. I was supposed to get a link on my phone to enter the building and my room the day before.|No link was sent, so I emailed them, no reply. I turned up and couldn't get in, as there was a keypad to which I didn't have the code. I had to find alternative accomodation, walking in the rain dragging a suitcase and carrying a heavy backpack. The first hotel was full, so they sent me to the hostel down the road, who were full but managed to accommodate me.|Thanks to the nice young lady on reception.|I didn't know but On the Walk had changed ownership between booking and visit, which no one had bothered to tell me. I am still trying to get a refund weeks later.|I would advise avoid at all costs.

Good value for money option in an excellent location in Edinburgh. I’ll never be a big fan of the chipboard design work (?) but hey - we wanted a room for a couple of nights without breaking the bank and we got it. We had no problem, booking or accessing. We slept well, comfortable and quiet. We had a minor technical hitch with the TV and it was responded to and dealt with brilliantly. Step out and you have good/excellent food and drink options in every direction and it’s a short and pleasant walk into the centre and old town. Better still it’s downhill on the way back after a tough night tasting beautiful whisky. Wouldn’t hesitate to rebook.

Lovely clean room. Comfortable beds and good quality toiletries and tea and coffee facilities. Close to centre of Edinburgh. Good wifi and heating and tv options. Netflix and other extra channels. The only downside was getting through the main gate. It's very stiff and had to push hard.

The room was very big, 4 single beds, big bathroom and it's all step free access. Very modern and loved the virtual keys access. It was not very clean though: rubbish in between 2 of the 4 beds, mouldy shower curtain, dead bugs on the floor (flies, a bee), makeup stains on towels. I asked for the rubbish to be cleaned: they replied that they would send someone to clean, none came. It's fair for a short stay but wouldn't recommend staying for more than 2/3 days.
