On the Wallaby

What a great place. Exceeded my expectations. I needed last minute accomodation over Christmas and on the wallaby helped me out, didn’t charge a fortune and were just so so nice. As soon as you walk in you feel a nice homely chilled vibe. Everything is so well set up and clean. Im a bit of a private girly so stayed in one of the cabins out the back and loved it. Super comfy (and again clean/fresh) and the out door rain shower is a must. Will be staying here again when I visit yungaburra. Such a great location to town. Thanks to the wonderful staff.

We came here as part of a 2-day Uncle Brian’s tour but it was so good I wanted to leave a review. A lovely, welcoming place with loads of areas to relax & socialise. We had dinner here and they made us a delicious vegan version of what everyone else had including vegan coleslaw and vegan mash - so lovely to feel included and catered for. We were upgraded to a private room as the dorms were full and this was such a lovely surprise too - we joked that it was a birthday treat as it was my boyfriend’s birthday a few days before. Double bed in a cute little trailer with shared bathroom facilities - open-air shower onto the sky, it’s amazing. Location is great with the cutest town. There are flowers outside the rooms which smell beautiful at nighttime. Thank you so much to everyone at this lodge, we had a wonderful time❤️

My husband and I stayed at On the Wallaby Eco Lodge for a long weekend over the King's Birthday weekend, with a friend. My husband and I stayed in a Go Room, as did our friend. We tend to stay in 4 or 5 star accommodation so this was a real step outside of our comfort zone. We did not regret one moment. The wonderful welcome and staff on duty, the well-stocked kitchen, living areas, outside firepit and seating areas all made us feel completely at home, whilst bathroom facilities were all clean and, actually, the outdoor shower for Go Room guests felt adventurous and 'at one' with nature. Fresh, home-grown fruit and herbs are available without charge, and games, DVDs and books are also free for guest-usage. Highly recommended 👌.

Super friendly, basic but comfortable hostel. We stayed as a family of four (two boys 16/13) and it was ideal. Friendly open spaces, great location to see visit the Tablelands, and helpful staff. Good cooking facilities for self-catering. Great value for a family that's interested in spending more on experiences than a hotel room!

Always have the best time staying here. The new outdoor shower in the rain was amazing. Everything you need within walking distance and fully equipped kitchen.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I didn’t arrive with big expectations, but On the Wallaby completely surprised me in the best way. The place is absolutely immaculate! Every space was spotless, fresh, and clearly cared for with real attention to detail. It felt comfortable and welcoming straight away, far beyond what I expected. Veronica was a fantastic host, warm and helpful with great local recommendations that made exploring the area so easy. Her effort and pride in the place really show, and it turned a simple stay into something memorable. What I thought would just be a stopover ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. Highly recommended and once again Thankyou Veronica!

Just spent a four night weekend at this practical , easy going friendly hostel. A short walk to the business centre of Yungaburra. A quaint village on the Atherton Tableland. Lots of great spots to relax, well equipped kitchen, and tropical gardens. Adventure tours also available including kayaks around beautiful freshwater lakes. We travel there every year for a folk festival and market last weekend in October. Great attentive staff too 💕

Stayed here for 3 nights and I must say it was the best 3 nights of my trip, the rooms were spacious enough, clean, toilets were clean and hot water worked well, kitchen was well stocked and clean. The whole place was well furnished with many leisure areas to sit and chat or simply chill. As a solo traveller, I really enjoyed the vibe and company of others, and hats off to Rachel and Veronica for their warm hospitality, they also gave me many great tips on where to go during my stay. Location is pretty good, quiet neighborhood and a short drive from Atherton. For the cheap price, I would definitely recommend anyone to visit this place, will revisit the next time I'm back in Cairns!

It's a lodge, not a hostel. That's what the team will tell you here, and it's absolutely true. Cleanest bathrooms and bedrooms I've had for a hostel. The team is very nice and accessible. Tucked in a nice little neighborhood. Good time.
