What a wonderful museum! And it was one of those places that kept getting better and better the more I explored. I just kept thinking “Wow!” with each new area I entered. It was such an impressive collection of movie, music, political, automotive, and natural history (and more I’m forgetting)- with something to interest everyone. There was so much throughout the museum that made me nostalgic for my childhood- like the autographed “Happy Days” photo or the certified replica of the Delorean from “Back to the Future.” I was also excited to see Abraham Lincoln’s hat (though a bit before my childhood). Don’t miss seeing the hat- it’s easy to get distracted by the “Hollywood and Beyond” section and walk right by the “Hall of Historical Documents” (even though the gal that checked us in told us about it!). Even the music that they played set a wonderful tone! (Couldn’t help but sing along with Frank Sinatra to “High Hopes” in the Hollywood Room!)
It was great to get to speak with one of the owners, Jason, as well. He was all around the museum available for questions and it was a highlight of my visit to learn that the favorite stickers from my childhood “Mrs Grossman’s Stickers” was actually his company and that they’re still creating the stickers! I still use them to decorate the happy mail I send to friends to this day. (Thanks Jason for adding to my collection!)
I thanked Jason for sharing this incredible collection with us all. When I think about all of the time and effort it took to even get to this point- starting back to the folks getting the autographs and then the collectors taking time to preserve these amazing pieces of history, or the folks preserving or restoring the cars, or the taxidermied animals, etc. It makes for such a wonderfully memorable experience.
And definitely check out the Smoke Wagon Saloon- the food is delicious, our server was great, and the atmosphere was lots of fun!
Highly recommend for locals and visitors! Well done, Jason and Nicol! I’ll definitely be back!
