One Legged Magpie

Great bar! The old fashioned made for my wife ranks as one of the best she's ever tasted. I had Ayinger Octoberfest from Germany that was exceptional. The two apps, carrots and pork belly were good, but could have been better. The pork belly was dry, the carrots a tad bland as served. The pizza was very good, with a crisp/tender crust. Both bartenders were excellent. We also had a nice visit with the owner, Mike. For a Tuesday night in a new town (on our way to Yellowstone), it was a fine evening overall. PS: the old album covers in the hallway and restrooms were cool.

This place is absolutely amazing, the food is priced well for what you get. I had the Montana Wagu, and my taste buds were absolutely blown away! The steak was cooked too perfection, and the potatoes were delicious. There was a slight spice to the braze that was on it, which complimented all the other flavors so well. If you're ever in the Red Lodge area, I highly recommend stopping in to try some of the scrumptious options they offer. They definitely have the best pizza in town as well. You will not be disappointed, hope you enjoy the experience as much as I did.

My husband and I were on our way back from New Mexico. We had been camping in our camper for two weeks. We stopped in Red Lodge for the night before getting home to White Sulphur Springs. We had the pleasure of a fine evening at the One Legged Magpie. The food was to die for! One of the best meals we’ve ever had. Definitely a must when in Red Lodge.

Absolute perfection! We were welcomed immediately and seated for reservation. Service was impeccable. We had the delicious carrots to start followed by the MT wagyu strip and scallops- both were perfectly prepared and delicious. Cocktails were original and innovative. They had an amazing band performing, but the most impressive part was the warm and welcoming atmosphere and service. Kat went out of her way to welcome us (we are new to town), check in on our experience, introduce us to her husband Mike, a bartender, and one of the musicians. Honestly, could not have asked for better food, beverages, service or music. We can’t wait to return. Do NOT miss this place when coming to Red Lodge.

Every visit is made special by Travis, whose recommendations—whether for food or drinks—are always spot on. The food is an experience in itself, and I’ve never had a dish I didn’t look forward to returning for. The atmosphere is always vibrant and welcoming, and the entire wait staff is attentive, ensuring a fantastic experience every time. And don’t miss their award-winning espresso martini! Can’t wait to come back!

My husband, a family friend and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner last night! Hubby and I ordered the Tasting and our friend had the steak dinner. Everything was delicious and our wine and beer selections were great. With the Tasting, we had the beignets and they put a candle on it for me as we were celebrating my belated birthday! Thank you for making our evening special!

We were visiting the area and decided to stop here for dinner and a couple adult beverages. We had the capri salad, margarita pizza ant chocolate tort with ice cream. This was one of the best meals I have ever had. The margarita pizza was the best we’ve ever had and we have eaten pizzas in Italy. The staff was absolutely incredible. The owner were also there working right along beside them. As for the atmosphere also in a word great. If you are in the area this is a must stop if you’re looking for amazing food, drinks, amazing friendly service with a great atmosphere. Truly a 5 star restaurant. As for the bartenders they are top notch as well.

Do not pass this place up. The staff was amazing. Corinne, Rosie, Owner and everyone else. The food was some of the best I've had, the Gin Fizz, Carajillo, Golden Girls and Migration 2 Stuttgart were the best. I had the duck breast plate and pork belly app. Friend had the carrots app and waygu entree. Yall we have to come back. This will be the number 2 reason I have to come back besides family.

One Legged Magpie is truly a gem and an unexpected culinary delight in Red Lodge. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as we walked in, but from the moment we entered, I knew we had stumbled onto something special. The interior was a little on the dark side, but the warm, inviting vibe pulled us in. We navigated our way to the main section, finding two wonderfully comfortable plush blue chairs next to the bar. The small details immediately caught my attention--each table adorned with fresh flowers in charming vases, adding a thoughtful and personal touch. Our server was genuinely sweet and attentive, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. I did notice they have an outdoor patio out back, but the atmosphere inside was too good to pass up. We began with the spring pea salad--an absolute standout--featuring creamy ricotta, crisp snap peas, fresh mint, and pistachios. It was fresh, crunchy, and beautifully balanced. We added a slice of toasted ciabatta bread, topping it with the salad to make our own bruschetta-style bites, which turned it into a perfect little dish. Next came the spice-roasted carrots, which were every bit as flavorful as they were beautiful, followed by the pork belly barbecue with a blueberry barbecue sauce. The sweetness of the sauce paired beautifully with the rich pork belly, creating a dish that was both comforting and elevated. For drinks, I had the Jayne Mansfield--a bright, refreshing, and totally unique cocktail--while my mom enjoyed the Lauren Bacall, which she loved. The restaurant's name comes from a fun and memorable story: the owners were discussing their plans to open the restaurant when they spotted a one-legged magpie. It stuck--and now it's part of the charm of the place. One Legged Magpie delivers on every level: warm atmosphere, thoughtful touches, incredible food, and a sense of place you won't soon forget. If you're in Red Lodge, this is a must-visit spot.

Oh my gosh. What a find! The happy hour menu in included the carrots which are not to be missed! Ella recommended the ceviche and she was spot on !!! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the pizza special (not sure of the name but it had an egg over easy in the center). It too was delicious. What a fun spot. Kat, the owner, treated my wife and me to an unexpectedly wonderful, fulfilling evening as we were celebrating our 49th anniversary! Never meeting us before, we were stunned with her gracefulness and attention to details of food, customer satisfaction and, perhaps, selfishly for me, a delicious dessert to finish the evening! Good happy hour they no longer do the two for one drinks, though they just have some drinks that you can get for eight dollars. All of the appetizers that were on the happy hour menu were great except for the pork belly which was extremely dry service and ambulance were great.

With my travel schedule I spend many hours in restaurants. When I visit twice that's a sign of excellence. This is recommended for certain. The chef has a flair with vibrant flavors in his foods. Service is wonderful and the most comfortable seating which is always important for a traveler. There may be a wait but relax have a drink and enjoy.

This restaurant is one to visit! My husband and I had the pleasure of having a recent anniversary dinner there. To start with, it has such a cool vibe. It's dark and swanky and cozy and romantic. Our server, Travis, was an absolute gem. We followed his lead on drink recommendations, and he nailed it. He was friendly and outgoing. Both of the owners were circulating and both came over and visited with us, and they couldn't have been more welcoming. The food was amazing. My husband had the steak, and I had pizza, and the snap pea salad was to die for. It was such a great experience and such a fun night out. This review is coming from someone who never leaves reviews....so trust me.... try this place!

The One Legged Magpie was recommended by a stranger we met in Cooke City. What an amazing find! We sat at the bar. Husband had carters magpie beer - which he enjoyed. I had a mock tail called Dram Mushroom Cola - not sweet and really nice. We shared the Ricotta Gnocchi - super delicious. The service was excellent and speedy, and the ambiance was so nice. Blues playing in the background and Smokey smell that whetted our appetites. Highly recommend!

Wow, what a gem! We came in for a drink and the bar, ended up at a table for an unforgettable evening! The cocktails are crafted so thoughtfully and are outrageously unique. The food! We had the Boudin Balls, Chicken Liver Lettuce Wraps, Fresh Oysters on the half shell... Pork Belly and The Pork Bolognese. Don't miss this stop while your in Red lodge... we went twice

What a delicious meal! Stopped here on our way through Red Lodge and decided on this place based on reviews. We were still impressed with how wonderful our meals were. I had the half chicken with risotto and husband had the steak. Best meal we had in a long time! Thanks!

We had one of the the most relaxing and delicious evenings we've ever had at Magpie; it has a nice selection of beers and a creative cocktail menu. Travis was our main server and he couldn't have been more pleasant and attentive. After ordering a delicious tequila cocktail off the menu, I asked mixologist extraordinaire, Joe, to surprise me with one of his on-the-spot creations, which was excellent. The appetizers and lamb were perfection. Chef Charles, Tara, and the proprietor, Mike, all made the experience as well. Highly recommend!

What a delicious dinner and excellent service! Bruce was our attentive and personable waiter. Mike, the owner, introduced himself and checked on us during our meal. What an amazing chef for this restaurant! I had the pesto fettuccine - artistically presented, great seasoning, and perfect amount for a meal. My husband had the pork chop and declared it the best he has ever eaten! We shared at butter lettuce salad that was so fresh and tasty! Highly recommend this restaurant!

What a wonderful dinner!!! The space is sleek & mountain elegant. The special drink menu creative and fun. The staff were all friendly and engaging. The food was ALL delicious and the desserts the perfect ending. We've been coming to RL for years, but our first time to OLM. It is now at the top of the rotation along with/Perogotive!!

Great food at a reasonable price. Service was excellent and vibe was nice. To go order was on time.

Went with friends on a whim. Quirky seating which us gals were ok with but the guys did not like. The couch with a low table was very difficult for 6' and taller guys. Our orders consisted of pizza a chicken sandwich and lamb dish. They liked the lamb ok but the two pizzas were charred black on the bottom with some charred black bubbles on the top. The chicken sandwich was very spicy. And a bit greasy ( deep fried? ). All in all not any of our type of food or atmosphere. The drinks were tasty but very small. After they added ice in a small glass you're lucky to get half a cup of liquid. Margarita was the smallest I ever saw. Whisky was mostly water. Might be for some but we will pass going back

Order the Trout tacos (tostadas? Pretty crispy tortilla.) 5 stars. Excellent beer selection, very friendly staff.

The ambiance is great. Very unique for Red Lodge. The cocktails were great, wine was good. Host gave a little condescending vibe when he found we didn't have a reservation. But squeezed us in. The menu is limited and the pizza was atrocious.

Phenomenal drinks, excellent pizzas and beautiful atmosphere. This place is so awesome! They showcase live music and serve strong drinks. I had the pistachio pizza and it was so tasty!! The cocktails are delicious and the menu of options is creative. My group had the hummus, which was made in house, and the bacon blueberry pizza. I could've lived without that second pizza, but it was still good. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. There's a pool table here, too, so you can really spend some time. The big open space is nice for big groups or small, intimate get together a, alike. Definitely worth a visit, even if you're just grabbing a cocktail!

From the great atmosphere to the wait staff to most importantly the drinks and food-all top notch. We will be back and often!

We ate at One-Legged Magpie on Labor Day following a spectacular backpacking trip off the Beartooth Highway. It could not have been a better punctuation to an amazing long weekend. The Fish of the Day (Salmon) over ratatouille was extraordinary. The butter lettuce salad, pizza, desert and even a simple margarita were all equally high quality and excellent. Kat and Mike are wonderful owners and hosts and the vibe translates throughout the staff and ambiance. I've worked at award-winning French bistros and One-Legged Magpie is on par with the best!

We decided to try the One Legged Magpie for a small bite to eat. The atmosphere is eclectic. I made reservations but they weren't needed because it was a weekday and not ver full. We ordered two cocktails and a pizza. While the cocktails were good, the pizza not so much. Wood fire pizza and the crust was soggy...the sauce was very thin and not very seasoned wel. Just was sort of a greasy mess. The service was fine, but the food is sorely lacking.

If you're looking for a place with immaculate vibes, unique and delicious cocktails and great food to pair them with- this is the place! visited from out of town and was blown away by the attentive service and the great drinks. 10/10 would come back to visit again!

I went here with my girlfriend because we needed to facetime our friend. We just wanted a nice spot with tea. The owner Kat was super friendly and found us a spot and brought us French pressed tea. I felt like I was in another land, it was so nice and the customer service was amazing. Thank you Kat for being so cool and fun!

First time in Red Lodge, flying solo, checking out the camping and hiking scene. Popped into town for a quick bite and landed here. This place was fantastic! Service was quick, great attitudes by everyone and the lamb skewers were AMAZING!! Highly recommend! Zach was on top of things!!

Large venue owned and operated by a young local couple. The upstairs venue has been given a breath of fresh air. Large enough for big acts to come through in the future! All food from the kitchen is wicked good! Just Like their team, the menu is small but every offering is a winner. I think that their small menu is intentional as the dial in the bar program. All cocktails are perfectly made and they also have Coors, PBR, & Miller available for anybody who wants it! Selena was our server. She recommended the Coors Banquet. she said that is was what a lot of the locals drink. I asked her what the secret was to the Magpie Pizza as well as how long one had to live in Red Lodge before being considered a local. She told me that that was classified information and took a sip pf her Shirley Temple. The secret was rice flour, stone fire, and secret local water source. This is such a fun and comfortable place to check out in Red Lodge! The staff are very friendly and the owner Mike is a gem. I was indecisive about a drink and asked him to be creative. He nailed it based on a few preferences for what I do and don't like. My husband loved his old fashion. We enjoyed the free pool table and foosball games. We were in Red Lodge Montana skiing and we were recommended to this place by someone in Billings.. sure did it disappoint we came here two nights in a row

Very sheek moody decor that creates an intimate atmosphere. Great for first dates or small party dinners. It's pricy, but so delicious!

A fun, hip and cool space. Margaritas are great, and an interesting bar menu. Service, excellent. Food is good too, although runs toward the spicy side. It's also a fantastic music venue with local musicians playing frequently. The music theme carries through to old album covers on the wall in rest rooms. Would love to see some of those songs on the restaurant's play list. Would complete the retro cool vibe.

Great music with simple apps and casual atmosphere. Love the larger venue upstairs when they have a well known band.

Came to Red Lodge from Phoenix with my boyfriend to visit his parents for a long weekend. This place ROCKS! Met the owner, Kat, an absolute delight hailing from Great Falls. Her husband is a gifted chef and the food is delicious. Great options for vegetarians and omnivores alike, including beautiful Neapolitan pizzas. Played some pool and enjoyed some delicious craft cocktails. Can't wait to return!

Went to Magpie last night for pizza. They were out. Forced 7 of us to order the hamburger. Outstanding!service was almost perfect but our server, Kat, forgot our beers. But she is so adorable we forgive her. The new menu has some great new items. Love this place.

We had one of the most delicious meals in recent memory at One Legged Magpie! The ricotta gnocchi with pork bolognese was AMAZING! My father ordered the arctic char and raved about his dish! Kids got burgers and pizza and loved every last bite! Fries were perfectly salted! Great food, great service - highly recommend this gem of a restaurant!

An amazing spot that hits it on all cylinders - Great Drink /Food Menu Selections, Great Taste, and personable and attentive service all within a perfectly curated space. Magpie had something for everyone's taste in our party, and everyone couldn't say enough about their dish. The cocktails are truly a work of art as well as delicious . I've been running restaurants and writing menus for many years. My chef/restaurant owner friend and I met near Red Lodge for a quick vacation and happened upon One Legged Magpie after a drive up to Bear Tooth Pass. We've been out to eat together more times than I can count and usually end up discussing the many missteps in our dining experiences. We ordered cocktails, 4 small plates and a pizza on this occasion and at the end of the meal came to the conclusion that this was the best meal we ever enjoyed together. I never write reviews, but this restaurant deserves your attention.

I saw pics of food on Red Lodge Buzz from this place, and it looked interesting. We went in the other night just to check it out and have a beer. The bartender (Kat, maybe the owner or manager?) Recommend a couple of beers we might like and they were great. We looked at the menu, and I immediately thought, trendy food, targeting young tourists. I told my boyfriend, we're not going to eat here. Then Kat started explaining the menu, and described a couple of things, explained that they use local products and it completely changed my impression on the place. We had a great snack and dinner. It was priced reasonably and the portions were plenty for two. Service was great! We'll be back!

Phenomenal cocktails! We'll crafted, creative flavor profiles and absolutely worth every penny. Easily on par with craft cocktail bars in major cities.

Omg their polenta fries are bomb! We brought our kids and they loved everything they had too. The place is owned and run by locals and the food and drinks are so good! We will definitely be back.

Red Lodge food scene has been booming the last couple years. Add this to the required stop list. Best to go for dinner, but check their hours ahead of time. The food feels somewhat trendy for red lodge vibe, but the flavors are 10/10. Side note, for the drinkers among us their crafted cocktails won't disappoint.
