Yelp
First, I don't like the classification of a "Dive Bar," I think that is inaccurate and should be revised by yelp.
One Shot Charlie's is a very popular bar/restaurant in historic Harrison, Idaho. There are only a few places
To eat on Lake Coeur d'Alene, and with the Harrison marina close by (within 2 blocks) this is definitely a destination spot for many boaters. The area is equally popular for cyclists and Harley riders, so during summer months OSC is a hub of commotion, and people watching can be a ton of fun. Also during the summer most Friday and Saturday nights there is live music, and with only a few exceptions the bands have been good.
The food at OSC is very good. I would classify it as "upscale pub." Burgers are great, as are the pulled pork sandwiches, their Reuben, and my go-to is the amazing saucy chicken sando. I probably ate there 20 plus times this summer and ordered the saucy chicken sando 3/4 of the time. It's that good, and just doesn't get old. Fries are so good, and the salads are always fresh. Pizza is also good and ordered by many.
While I generally enjoys a couple cold IPAs when I am there; one of the owners, Jordan, is a super nice guy who is manning their full bar. I can't comment on the cocktail quality since I don't drink hard alcohol.
When the winter months roll around and I have to pull the boat, I often daydream about being back on the lake and eating at OSC. For me, it's not just a bar/restaurant, it's a happy hangout where I spend many of my summer hours with family and friends.
The service is very good, as is the food. Prices for lake food are reasonable. Make sure to check out their merch store after you eat, and take home a souvenir.
You just cannot go wrong with a visit to One Shot Charlie's, and I cannot day enough positive things about it. I think this winter I may even take the drive around the lake and enjoy an off-season meal or two.
COVID has hurt many small restaurants out there, and I'm certain that OSC has not been immune to this economic downturn. I do love the fact that when they apparently received much pressure to close from the city, they defied that demand and doubled down, clearly stating on their menu that if you wanted to exercise your freedom and take whatever perceived risk to eat out during a pandemic, that was our individual choice; and they would not cave to the hand wringers and bed wetters. I love that attitude. 'Murcia.
Five stars, two thumbs up, and a place in my heart. OSC is very special to me, and I sincerely hope anyone who reads this review will take the trip to Harrison and enjoy them as well. If there ever comes a day when OSC is no longer open, it will be a sad day on Lake CDA for certain.
