We needed to stay to a place close to the American Embassy (opposite Sandton City). This guesthouse fit the bill perfectly. The service at arrival was very pleasant, The rooms were fine, but we don't like the bath. The breakfast had no options, was well prepared, but it is definitely the smallest peace of bacon that I had anywhere!

The rooms were not bad, nice decent beds, but the rooms lack that little bit of extra attention to detail and cleanliness one would expect from an establishment in Hyde Park. Bar fridge slap bang in front of the desk, no space to move around it and the fridge was dirty and ice compartment completely blocked with old ice. Scuff marks on walls and dust build up in corners. The breakfast was an absolute joke to be honest - you can see that this guest house lacks the firm hand of a proper manager who understands the guest house industry. Reasonable price, but would rather pay a little bit more for better service and cleanliness.

This is a great place to sleep over when looking for a place to sleep in this area. Close to Crowne plaza where I had to attend a workshop the next morning. Also close to various malls and not far to drive. The service received was excellent. The room was very clean and huge! Underfloor heating was available which made this the perfect room for winter. Parking is also very safe as the guesthouse is located in a complex behind gates that are monitored by security.

One Toman guest house is situated in a green leafy upper suburb of Johannesburg in the Hyde park Sandton area. Staff are friendly. The accommodation is clean secure and comfortable with lounge room dining room barbecue area and pool. The stay was pleasant and the rooms typical of a B and B. Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast. There are other extra services such as laundry (added cost). Security is very good although the area of Sandton is like most modern suburbs of Australia within walking distance of the Hyde Park shopping centre (which is large). I am happy to recommend and revisit.

George is fantastic..so helpful and tries to please.|Great location if your on business. |However, there were no towels in the room. George assisted with getting towels.|Breakfast is poor, in fact I didn't eat breakfast.|I am a coffee snob and to have Jacobs instant first thing in the morning is a sin. I think a little more detail to breakfast and definitely a coffee plunger or filter coffee would be perfect..coffee filter machines are not expensive.|Get one and I'll be back next month for business.

George the assistant was great.|The room I had was filthy. Cobwebs elegantly draped in all corners of the room and bathroom. The carpets were dirty. The walls needed a painting. The breakfasts are oh so poor. The breakfast room is depressing. |Other options for the same amount of $$ provide a far superior experience.|The location is too far from the shopping centre to walk at nights ... You'd want a car.|I travel to Jo'burg quite a lot, and can safely say that I would NOT stay here again.

We cancelled the stay when arriving at the guesthouse. The room had no airconditioner, and because my wife had to stay at the guesthouse for a the most part of the day, this was not acceptable. |Staff was very helpful and their apology was sincere.|Dirk Coetsee|

I lived in this house from Feb 1996 to Dec 2000. My room was first on the right at the top of the stairs opposite my brother's room. My sister was second on the right. It was a rather nice childhood. Pets were aloud at this time as we had a dog called Max for all that time living with us.
If anyone finds my stuffed animal, a Hippo originally named "Hippy", it would be nice to get him back.
I would imagine it would take five minutes now to get to Hyde Park Shops, however when I was in primary school it took a bit longer.
