Regency is a great club that has just about anything you want. The problem is that you pay for everything. It is possible to be just a gym member (about $70 a month, i think) or just a tennis member (about $100, i think). But if you want to be just a gym member, than that really isn't worth it for the price. As a tennis member you can use the gym and the pool and everything else the club has to offer.
The people are nice and friendly, although like any other club I have ever been to, some of the staff have a stick up their ass.
The great thing, i think, about Regency are all the other things that are in the club. There are squash courts, racquetball courts, a basketball court, 2 pools, a gym that has classes, spinning and pilates classes, and best of all, a court tennis court.
Prince's Court, the name of the court tennis court, is one of maybe a dozen court tennis courts in the country and the only one in the Washington DC area. Court Tennis, also known as Real Tennis, is the original form of tennis played in the 12th Century. Since then, the game hasn't changed much. The balls are still hand sown and the rackets are still made out of wood. The game is played on a court that looks like a lawn tennis court with walls. For any lawn tennis player, I think that it's a must try. It's incredibly addicting.
Sadly, the presence of the court isn't really known to the club. I'm sure some of the staff have no idea that it is there. But it adds an incredible amount of charm, diversity and uniqueness to Regency.
