Onguma Bush Camp

Amazing place! Cool and super friendly staff! Very pleasant atmosphere as well! We were lucky to spot animals at the waterhole while having dinner! The sundown drive was very well organized and successful too. Onguma was a pleasant highlight after staying on regular campsites in a tent:)

Onguma should be the first choice of lodge in the East side of Etosha. The rooms are very comfortable, the food delicious and the setting next to a setting hole is fantastic. Possibly the best breakfast of the 15 lodges we stayed at in Namibia & even home made snacks for the sundown. However, its the staff that make Onguma very special, the warm welcome & constant eagerness to please, make it hard to leave. Hearing the happy chatter & laughter created a wonderful atmosphere which they love to share with their guests. A truly lovely & memorable stay.

Onguma bush camp gets good reviews, so we had some high expectations - which were exceeded in every way. ||Although bush camp is the cheapest of the Onguma lodges, you do not feel that at all. The environment, service, and food are all outstanding. I would have been happy to stary for a month.||The lodge area is very pleasant (green, trees, lots of birds), and the waterhole is busy: elephant, rhino, jackals, kudu, duiker were all notable - and often only a handful of meters away. Very briefly, one evening, even a lion. On the first evening I could have (literally) leaned out of the bar area and patted a rhino. The buildings are all well decorated and in great condition. The food is excellent - some of the best I have had in lodges. I can especially recommend the (lunchtime) oryx burger, which might well be the best burger I have ever eaten. ||The staff and service are outstanding: the friendly, easy, unstilted atmosphere in the lodge made it one of the most enjoyable places I have stayed. Our waiter, Asser, (apologies for any spelling error!) deserves a special mention for making us feel welcome. This is what customer service should aspire to.||The only negative I could find from our stay: although extremely well decorated and in perfect working order, the 'rondavels' (I think ours was number 7?) are very small, and a bit too close to the pool area. But we knew that when we booked, and they are extremely good value.

The lodge is just outside the east gate of Etosha National Park. It has a number of individual bungalow like rooms that are very comfortable. There is a swimming pool to relax by and a large dining and seating area that overlooks an attractive waterhole that is visited by antelope, warthog etc. |the food and service was very good. The lodge offers safari drives around their land, although some guests will do self drives in Etosha Park using their own cars. We went on the evening drives which we enjoyed greatly. |Make sure you fill up with petrol before driving across Etosha Park as the service stops in the park often do not have fuel.

We stayed at Onguma Bush Camp in February–March and absolutely loved it. The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful rooms, and excellent food made it a truly relaxing and memorable experience. Although we didn’t have time to join a game drive during this stay due to a tight schedule, it’s definitely on our list for next time — we would love to return and explore more of the private reserve.||||The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and professional throughout our stay. We don’t have specific names, but everyone — especially the kitchen and service staff — made us feel truly cared for.||||Highly recommended for anyone looking for a stylish, tranquil lodge experience close to Etosha.

Beautiful place where I stayed with my family for two nights. We had amaaaazing sightings and had Omajovas (big mushrooms that grow on termite mounts in rainy season) for breakfast!! Lots of lions, beautiful scenery, and amazing staff!|Definitely can recommend this place to anyone!

We stayed at Onguma Leadwood campsite for three nights and fully enjoyed the whole experience. The site is part of the Onguma reserve adjacent to the Etosha National park gate and is very convenient for Etosha. The camp site users have a short walk along a well lit path to the lodge reception and waterhole with full use of the viewing galleries, restaurant and swimming pool etc. We also had the bush breakfast and a sundowner safari trip which were both excellent

One of the highlights of our trip.|The accommodation is really good, the location is wonderful, and the food is excellent. The management of game drives in order to reduce stress on the animals is exemplary. Our guide, Gordon, was exceptional, and we had a wonderful three days in his company - not only an excellent guide, but a really nice person.|Will definitely be back.
