Onigiri Tanakaya in Soho, NY, is located in a nice area with a small space to sit and eat inside. I tried the Onigiri with salmon, and it was a decent size, filling and flavorful. However, the green tea wasn’t to my liking, I found it too strong for my taste. While the food was good, the drink didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Still, it's worth trying if you're in the area and enjoy Japanese snacks.

I got here about 1:45. The spicy tuna onigiri was slight warm like it was made recently which was nice. It was spicy but I felt like I couldn’t really taste the tuna. Overall not bad. The spam musubi was delicious. The egg was sweet, which was unexpected, but combined with the salty spam made for a great combo. This is a stand with limited seating outside. It was a nice space but the loud traffic nearby made for a less than ideal eating experience.

Finally got a chance to check out that cute little pop-up that I’ve walked past many a times now and I will definitely be back for another lunch here! They are serving up the most convenient delicious lunch in SoHo right now. Onigiri is my favorite and they have a tons of super affordable options. Here’s my faves: 🍙 Spam Musubi 🍗 Chicken Karaage 🍙 MENTAI CREAM CHEESE (unbelievable!) 🐟 Salmon

This pop-up in Soho serves tasty, budget-friendly bites that hit the spot without weighing you down. Spam Musubi. The crowd favorite! Savory spam, subtly sweet tamago, and umami nori—each bite is a satisfying experience of multiple flavors. Salmon onigiri. The classic. Salmon is tender, lightly seasoned, and pairs perfectly with sushi rice and nori seaweed. Miso eggplant. For vegetarians! The tender flesh of the eggplant soaks up the savoriness from miso so well. Don't miss out on the Ume Sparkling Water, with its uniquely tangy and refreshing flavor—a perfect refresher to cleanse the palate between bites.

It’s a pop-up in soho. I don’t want to be too harsh - the onigiri was ok. Not super tasty, rice was wet-ish and stuck together, bit too cushy thus lacking the chewiness. Spicy tuna inside was alright. Price was a bit lower that elsewhere, think under $5 pre tax. Some seatings nearby in SoHo garden.

Super cute little shop with a nice selection of onigiri and sushi rolls to go. I decided to pick up the spam musubi and spicy tuna. The spam musubi was so much better than I was expecting! They have a good variety of onigiri (Japanese rice balls) if you are looking for some unusual choices. The location is perfect for grabbing a quick bite on the run while in Soho. Plenty of seating if you want to eat in.
