We stayed at several hotels throughout Portugal and had excellent experiences everywhere except here. Unfortunately, a number of issues affected our stay.
When we arrived, the sink was already clogged. Although we reported it immediately, it was not repaired until our fifth day. The shower temperature also fluctuated whenever other sinks in the building were used. Throughout the stay, we found multiple spiders in the room.
Midway through the trip, the heat turned on automatically and we had no way to adjust or turn it off, leaving the room uncomfortably warm. The dishwasher also failed to work properly, and after using it we were told that leaving dishes on the counter created extra work for housekeeping—despite the fact that the dishwasher itself was malfunctioning. We were also met with inaccurate accusations, including being blamed for a clogged toilet despite it clearly being a plumbing issue.
Although the hotel had a “priority housekeeping” feature, it was not honored; housekeeping consistently arrived around 4–5 p.m., and on the sixth day they did not come at all. Additionally, the ceilings are not soundproof, and we experienced constant noise from upstairs throughout the day.
Booking an extra night was also difficult—we tried repeatedly to contact the hotel despite availability, but it was nearly impossible to reach anyone. Finally, on our last day, there was no warm water for showers.
Overall, this was the only disappointing stay during our time in Portugal, and we hope the hotel addresses these issues for future guests.
