While visiting Grindelwald, we came across a beautiful restaurant that immediately charmed us. Inside, we were welcomed by a warm, cozy, and home-like atmosphere. The staff were very kind and attentive. We had pizza for dinner – and I must say, it was excellent. The crust was thin and wonderfully crispy. A big plus was the option to choose the size of the pizza. To finish, we couldn’t resist dessert – a sweet ending that perfectly rounded off the evening. An ideal place for a peaceful dinner after a day spent in the mountains. We’d love to come back.

What can I say but this restaurant is absolutely amazing. It is a small cosy hut with very quaint decorations - there are a lot of wine bottles, including very huge ones. The service staff was super friendly and cheerful. Absolutely made our day there. The pizza itself is just fabulous - one of the best I’ve had in Switzerland. Thin crust pizza that has a very nice crunch texture, and the toppings were very well thought out. There’s a huge variety of toppings or types of pizzas you can choose from. There’s pizza is big so do consider the size before ordering! Every customer is also required to purchase a drink. Not a fan of this practice but the restaurant has to make money. For the pizza quality, this is justifiable and is worth it. Because the restaurant is relatively small, and due to its popularity, it is recommended to make a reservation in advance. Otherwise, the waiting time may be very long.

Really enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant. The pizzas were great. We also really enjoyed the cheese starter. Good portion for the dishes, and service was good and efficient.

This restaurant has a warm welcoming and cozy atmosphere making it a great place to enjoy the meal. The pizzas were delicious with perfect balance of crispy crust and flavourful sauce. Being a vegetarian, there were few options for us, so we ordered Margherita and Ala diavola pizza and both were authentic yummy wood fired pizzas. The staff was very friendly. Would love to visit this place again sometime when in Switzerland.

We had one of the best homemade-style pizzas we’ve eaten in a long time! The crust was perfectly crispy, while the inside was juicy and generously topped. The balance of flavors was spot on rich, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. The lady serving us was warm, welcoming, and very kind. Even the local beers were surprisingly good! Cozy atmosphere and amazing food highly recommended if you’re in Grindelwald!

Amazing pizza. We tried the Alla Diavola, it's quite a spicy pizza which is what we wanted, and the taste was just too good. I would recommend this place highly for all travelers visiting Grindelwald (it's a 3 minute walk from First), and specifically Indian tourists if they are bored of eating Indian food opposite the street. :)

Love this place. So quaint and cozy. The lines can get long at times because it is popular. The pizzas were delicious. Not the classic neopolitan style but still thin and crispy crust. Tried the Funghi and the Sotto Voce. They actually tasted pretty similar, I'm guessing because they have the same sauce and same cheese. Both were excellent, hard to pick which I liked better. The Sotto Voce has gorgonzola on it but it is very mild. Just FYI. You are allowed to smoke outside. We had to move our kids inside.

Best pizza, atmosphere and customer service! Definitely a place to stop in to dine while on vacation. Appreciate that the atmosphere forces one to slow down and enjoy your drinks than your meal.

Despite the unusual restaurant name (Uncle Tom's Cabin), the pizza was absolutely outstanding. The service was a quite slow for my American patience. We were there for 2 hours which should've been just 1 hour. The wait for the pizza was almost an hour. The wait for the bill was 1/2 hour.

The only downside was food took a bit to get out. A very insignificant con in the face of the people, food, and atmosphere. Everyone visiting Grindelwald should go here for at least one of your nights.

Recommendation by a local and definitley worth it. The "waiting space" fits 3 people and if you go in the busy season it WILL be a full house. My party was just 2 people and we waited over an hour. I will say it's worth it as the whole thing was an experience. It's pricey for pizza (one person can eat a small and two can probably share a medium) but everything we got was delish. Recommend the fig one!!! Really great cozy mountain restaurant overall

This was our favorite spot in the Grindelwald area without a doubt! We stayed just down the street and it was our first time to Switzerland. We came to the Hütte in our 2nd night and we loved it! Family owned and we felt at home. Nestled in between beautiful mountains we got to sit outside. Our waiter was helpful in suggestions and friendly. We both got a pizza and it was so delicious. The thin and crispy crust, definitely recommend the spicy peppers they are the best!!

Super nice service and great food. We got two mediums for 4 people and ate it all. We got the Al Capone + the fig goat cheese and sheep sausage one (started with a 'B'). Both were tasty. The aperol spritz were great as well.

The food was unimaginable, just cooked to perfection with just the right amount of everything put in. Since they're family owned the service is great and they genuinely care about all of their customers. And then as soon as you walk in the smell and ambiance reminds me of a childhood home during a cold winter day with home-made pizza on the oven.

After researching and asking for local recommendations, this place was always the #1 response and it lived up to the hype!! Unfortunately we weren't able to get a table our first night, but we went early enough(5pm) the 2nd night and got one! Highly recommend getting there before prime dinner time to get a table as they don't take reservations and is only a limited waitlist. The staff was extremely friendly and of course the food was amazing! it did take awhile for the pizza to come out, but was well worth the wait! Nothing but the freshest ingredients and the crust is so thin, the pizza sits very light. We hopped around Switzerland for 2 weeks and this was by far one of our favorites!

We tried eating here two nights in a row. Both times we waited 15-20 minutes in a tiny cramped hallway only to be told the first night that we had to put our name on a list for a possible table in an hour and on the second night that their list was completely full. I suggested they maybe put a sign outside if that happens so people don't waste their time and was told they were "too busy" to do that. Total waste of time with rude staff. There are too many other good options in the area to waste your time on this one.

Super cute little place. We only came for a beverage on the adorable patio area, but would 10/10 come again. On the Main Street, and public parking is available closeby.

Hands down the best pizza in Grindelwald! I tired the Alla Diavola pizza, and what amazing flavors! Loved every bite of it. Must visit place if you're in Grindelwald. To add to it, the service was excellent too.

Such a Delicious restaurant! We were on our way to the First Cliff Walk and happened to find this place on Google maps. Thank goodness! It's fairly difficult to find a reasonably priced restaurant anywhere in Switzerland, so to find this place was a complete shock to us. We arrived about an hour before their lunch session was over. There was only about three other parties at the venue, so the seating was pretty open. Since we visited during the winter season we were wearing our heavy winter jackets, but luckily they have coat racks to hang your items. The hostess, who was also our server, was very sweet and accommodating. She provided us with an English menu and answered any of our questions in regards to the food or drinks. Our food came out within 15 minutes and oh man was it delicious! If you love thin and crispy pizza, then this restaurant will be your obsession. Every ingredient on this pizza tasted fresh and the spicy oil served alongside gave the pizza a wonderful kick. We spent roughly about 36 francs for the medium Pizza along with a beer and alcoholic cider (which is a pricey compared to U.S. pricing, but definitely reasonable compared to local pricing). The medium pizza was definitely enough for a party of two since it had eight slices.

Ah, the delicious smell of fresh pizza makes you wanna sit there all day long. We visited Onkel Tom's on a cold evening. We were seated immediately by a very friendly staff member (I believe she's a owner). We had a great conversation with her. We ordered Rustica Pizza and oh my God, it was to die for! I have never had this delicious pizza in my entire life. The pizza had a very thin crust cooked in a wood fired oven. I would rate this pizza million times better than what we have in United States. We left completely satisfied and would definitely return to this cute local joint. Visited this place again on June 18, 2018. Ordered Onkle Tom's pizza & it hit the spot.

Traveling through Switzerland we tripped upon this quaint pizzeria. The owner, is hands on, has been in business 25 years. Only about 6 tables inside and 6 tables outside. Great wine and beer list. We shared an Onkle Tom's small salad, this was very good, we have been missing a good salad since leaving the stated, we then shared a medium 1/2 Rustica and 1/2 with the figs and spicy goat sausage. We are every bite. We wished we had tripped on this the first night in town because we would have had more than one meal here.

Cute cozy restaurant, amazing pizza, family run business, they really care. Tons of choices for pizza. Thin crust, freshly made pizza for you. Would go back.

Was wondering why this place had 5 stars so went to try and it did not disappoint. We waited an hr to get a table and it was worth every minute. If dictionary had to define the pizza here - you would come here to try. Perfect crisp base with goodness of sauce and veggies embedded in top layer. A must must must try...go as hungry as possible...

Excellent. Don't go 2-4! Kitchen is closed. But it's worth a well-planned visit. They speak english, english menu. Friendly staff. Warm, quick food. This is the place to go!

What an incredible experience!!! The smell immediately upon walking in was amazing. It was small and decorated very nicely for christmas. We were greeted with a warm smile by the server. She was so incredibly friendly and was responsible for the entire restaurant, we were amazed! She was very helpful with recommendations and explained each type of wine and pizza. We got a medium pizza half rustica half buongustaio and both were soooooo amazing! Being two new yorkers we were in shock to see how much we loved their pizza. Definitely eat here while in Grindelwald :)

Cozy and when you walk in the smell is amazing. Staff seem more like family after you have been there a few minutes. Had the small Buffalo cheese platter that was amazing perfect for one or two people. Then I got a pizza and went to pizza it was this is the first time I think I've ever cut pizza with a fork and knife and I loved it. The edges come up about a quarter of an inch and it was so delicious I could eat every day. Interior was very comfy! Best place in town!

Back after 7 years and as good as I remember. Really large wine list at good value and only a few beers. Mixed Salad is maybe the best in town secret ingredients. Pizza can be split in 2 kinds to please different tastes. Ask for the side bottle of chili oil for extra spicy.

Wow. This was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Very fresh ingredients, sauce was perfectly flavored and they have a wide variety of pizza flavor options. This quaint place had minimal seating but we were luckily enough to find two seats joking another's table, however well worth it if you have to wait. They are closed from 2-4pm so pay attention to clock. The service was phenomenal and the atmosphere was super cute. I'd eat here every meal if it were possible. The caprese (mozzarella/basil/tomato) was extremely fresh and delicious. I also had the diavola even though while it was super spicy I ate every bite and enjoyed all of it.

After a long day of hiking, my fiance and I were HUNGRY and came across just a few pretty good reviews about this place, so we gave it a go. We were not disappointed! The service was great- so very friendly and welcoming! The pizza (We are both from Chicago) was delicious as well as the salad and special house dressing! Pair this with some beer and red wine and we left both completely satisfied! Would definitely recommend and return ourselves if we ever get to come back again!

This is a great place located centrally on the main drag of Grindlewald. It is frequented by both tourists and the locals. The service was exceptionally friendly. The menu had a nice selection of salads and just pizza for the mains. The pizza itself has a very thin crust cooked in a woodfired oven. I recommend the Palermo pizza and the mixed salad. They also make their cakes in house for dessert. I enjoyed sitting outside on the porch. If you are lucky the local regular Gunther will be there enjoying his wine to chat with.

This was our favorite place to eat in all of Grindelwald. The Rustica pizza was our top, the beer was good and cold! The staff was so friendly and the feel of the place was so cozy and warm. We came back to eat twice! Do yourself a favor and stop by. Also try the chili oil and the mixed salad, you will not be disappointed!

Outstanding food and service. Great wine selection and priced well. Highly recommend if you are looking for a cozy relaxing dining experience after a day of sightseeing. Family run and have english menus for convenience if you are not bi-lingual.

Great ambiance!! It was our first time in Grindelwald and stopped here since it was close to our hotel. The interior decor is very cozy and unique. The pizza was fantastic. Overall, great place and highly recommend!!

Uncle Tom's is rather small, but we got seated immediately on a slow rainy night. We ordered a family sized pizza and it was perfect for three of us. The crust is thin, which I prefer, and was quite tasty. Expensive by US standards, but reasonable for Grindelwald. Service was friendly from a very busy server. No negatives.

We visited Onkel Tom's on a cold, rainy night. Immediately after walking in, our bodies and hearts were warmed by the welcoming staff and wonderful smells! The food and service was incredible and I would recommend eating here to anyone visiting Grindelwald.

my husband and i just came back home (nyc) from a lovely trip to switzerland. During our stay i particularly wasn't fond of the food choices especially in Grindlewald. Being that it is such a small town, you aren't left with a variety of choices. Just your traditional german/ Swiss german food. However when we came upon Onkel Toms, we struck gold. So much that we came 3 additional times. The menu is small, but you don't need much more. The salads are AMAZING, its a secret recipe for the dressing, but man is it good. The pizzas are FANTASTIC. The desserts are just as fine and the best part is, the lovely service. We had the times of our lives in Grindelwald , thanks to Onkel Toms. We miss you, and I'm serious... please open one up in NEW YORK CITY!! You are better than all of these places here. karina and robert

Awesome, hearty pizza in a great mountain town. Pizzas were delicious and beer selection was adequate (hard to go wrong with a German Hefeweizen). Perfect spot after a long day of hiking.

Onkel Tom's was the best decision we made for dining while in Grindelwald. The atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping for, the food was delicious and the service exceptional. The family owned business certainly knows how to treat their customers. Their hospitality exceeded our expectations and we will certainly be recommending them to our friends who pass through.
