onomichi brewery

We had a bottle of the Onimichi ale from a local restaurant and it was excellent so we decided to search out the brewery. Located in the shopping arcade you have to make sure you walk to the back of the corridor to enter the brewery. There are only a few seats and it's only open on the weekends because the owners actually brew and bottle on the days the tap room is closed. The beer there is excellent and the owners are very warm, friendly and knowledgeable. They brew their beers with seasonal local ingredients making it a truly unique experience, and a must do when in the area. Craft beer is hard to find in Japan, and excellent craft beer is even more difficult. This place is truly a gem and worth searching out!

Friendly and welcoming brewery and tap house. The owners are a very friendly couple who enjoy talking with their guests. They have over 7 beers on tap and they have daily flight specials. I quite enjoyed the IPA and pale ale. Very hoppy and very crisp. Perfect. The brewery is set in a historic warehouse than has been preserved and renovated giving it a very warm feeling.

A dedicated brewmaster serves fresh craft beer in a small, intimate pub setting. Hours vary yet worth finding open times and venturing up the alleyway. Highly recommend.

Fantastic to meet the power-couple behind the great craft beer of Onomichi brewery :) I wasn't sure if it was open as I walked down the long hallway to the brewery's taproom but once I got there and was lucky enough to get an open spot at the counter I was glad I came. I had a pint of the classic Onomichi Ale, but want to head back for the sample set or try the cucumber brew made from local cukes. The taproom and brewery are in a beautifully restored old building- you can admire the wooden beams while you drink. Will definitely be back!

Great beers, many with subtle influence of ingredients from/associated with the Onomichi area e.g, citrus, sardines (yes you read that right - and it’s fabulous!). Friendly hosts and brewery doggo. Limited opening hours (as they are busy brewing other days) so check in advance to avoid disappointment. Snacks to accompany beers also available.

Great brewery, great beer and fantastic hosts. Four of us spent a fabulous few hours drinking beer and chatting with the owners and some of the locals. We even tasted a lovely sake to end the visit. This is what makes a perfect pub visit. Highly recommended.
