The house is tastefully designed with a deep touch of history. It’s very cosy but quite cramp. There are many beds in one female dorm, however noise or disturbance is not an issue. The walkway are pretty narrrow. Not suitable for large suitcases. Maintenance is required for the toilets and the shower head has broke. It’s also quite dark. Much cleaning would make stay more comfortable. Overall, it’s a convenient and valuable stay.

the utterly beautifulest guest house i've stayed in in all of japan and probably the world. the group who runs it also actively is reviving other (formerly) abandoned buildings, and creating extremely tasteful local workshops, cafés, galleries etc. in their place. there is a heavy focus on art and creativity, with a pleasant balance of old and new. retro vibes are strong however! so is the human touch. breakfast at the similarly tasteful (Akubi) café is also super cheap and tasty

Nice house, small spaces, the corridor to entry the hostel is quite tiny, the mood of the guy at the reception doesn’t not give a great vibe to the ambience, it might be good only a night before or after going to the islands but no more

Really great guesthouse with nice common rooms and service. Very nice ambiance. The japanese breakfast was really good. You can also enjoy the cafe in the afternoon, it’s very cozy.

We stayed overnight with a family of four in a private room. You have really fluffy tatami beds, so nothing to worry there. You can lock the room for short time leaves. The rest of the facilities are shared with the whole hostel. There‘s a kitchen, individual shower rooms, toilet and several „meeting“ rooms. We‘ve met a lot of interesting and funny people and I can say I liked staying here. The only thing missing was a bigger sink in the bathroom, but they are working on it.

Very unique and cute stay in Onomichi. The staff are all fun to talk to and help you feel at home. The beds were extremely comfortable and dorm rooms were quiet. Everyone staying there were friendly and respectable. The entire guest house is mostly wood, which gives it a historic and natural feel. The owner is an artist and brings art and creativity into the house. The location is perfect and convenient on the main shopping arcade. It was such a fun stay!

I enjoyed staying here a lot! This was my first Japanese hostel, and it was cool seeing how it compared to ones I stayed at in Europe. Staff are really great, decor is nice (common area and garden especially), there's free tea which was perfect for sitting by the garden. It's also located right on the main Onomichi shopping arcade. So location is perfect too.
