I'm reviewing this hotel compared to other curio's and upscale hotels (London House in Chicago, Mills House in Charleston, JW new Orleans, Waldorf in N.O.) as a diamond member. The hotel is located in an excellent location, few minute walk from Regina Pizza, freedom trail, Boston garden, 1 hour from Cape cod and may other locations. The hotel is very nice, modern and boutique. Upon entering the room we notice it's pretty small and only three drawers. The drawers are pretty small and one of them is taken up by the room safe. Overall pretty clean except for a few spots like on the bedframe or phone. The beds were sunken in and uncomfortable. We were walking up with our backs hurting. The bathroom is a good size, good amount of counter space. The lights could be brighter, was difficult for my wife to put on makeup. The light switch are automatic so it shuts off automatically which happened a few times when showering. The shower is also slippery, felt like there was a coating. Also, the shower has low pressure which is annoying. The hotel does not have room service, nor lunch offerings, as the restaurant shuts down midday and no water refill station. Their market is small, slightly larger than a closet with no fresh fruit. But star market is not too far away. No one cleaned after the first night, so we had to request a cleaning, which things get messy with a family of four. They did clean the next day as asked and every day onward. It does seem like housekeeping is stretched since we only seen one person working. One time we came back and the room was cleaned but the bathroom door was locked. Another we came back and the toilet was clogged, turns out baby wipes were flushed down the toilet. They should train their housekeeping not to flush baby wipes. One of the days the central air went out when it hit 100 degrees. I was messaging them but they weren't responding and got an answer when I went downstairs. They did provide 28k points which is weak but the air did come back in the afternoon. Also be careful with your items if you valet. I didn't think someone would take my charging cable but they did. Overall for a curio and price, it's pretty mediocre and just feels like they cut corners and lacking follow through. They should rename this place from the pennyweight to the penny wise, pound foolish. Go elsewhere.

Nice, clean , quiet room. AC worked perfectly and shower gets really hot 👍 Great location, easy walking distance. Service was good, friendly. Restaurant was lacking in choices of food and drink, lots of other choices close by. Valet parking was definitely worth it.

Wife and I stayed here one night before getting on a cruise ship. Was convenient (short uber) to airport and cruise terminal but also for walking to the north end where we enjoyed dinner and history. Rooms here are not big but were very comfortable. Hotel was nice and clean and quiet. We were in top floor so no street noise either. I experienced the bathroom light timing out during my shower as well. Enough ambient light to see but something to be improved.

Terribly poor lighting in the bathroom. Made getting ready for an event nearly impossible and very stressful as I couldn’t see my makeup and the natural light is very poor since half the window is blocked by ac units (see picture.) Beds were so hard and uncomfortable. No room service. Tried messaging the hotel about this on the app and never received a response. Paid extra for a “king premium” which looks like it has extra living room space, but it does not. It looks like all their standard rooms. Also missing radio / mp3 player, there is no ottoman, no telephone. We had to go downstairs to ask for an iron and ironing board and were told it would be sent up. 35 minutes later we had to go down and grab it for ourselves because it never arrived. Room was not clean and there were big dust bunnies under the night stands. Bed was clean at least. The front desk was nice. I would not describe this as luxurious or choose to come back.

Loved this hotel. Location is a two minute walk from TD Garden. Rooms were a nice size. Really quiet for as busy as it was. I don't think I heard a door shut (other than my own) the entire time I was there. Laminate flooring. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. Friendly staff. Valet parking. Restaurant on site. Nice decor. ... I think the fireplaces should have an electric fireplace insert instead of a board. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend or stay here again.

The room was clean and bathroom was cute and spacious. The beds were very uncomfortable and I just sunk into them but not in a good way. The first night the room felt damp and I thought it maybe was because it was so hot outside. I had the AC run all night and it stayed around 70/71 (it was set to 65). My second night, last night, I woke up at 4:30 sweating through my pjs. I had the AC set to 60 and overnight the temp had risen to 79. It’s 58 degrees outside so that doesn’t make sense. I also can’t open the window so there is 0 air circulation. Unacceptable! The front desk gave me a fan but it doesn’t change that it’s extremely uncomfortable, when I’m paying a lot of money TO BE comfortable (that’s the whole point of a hotel right?) the front desk also said they’ve had about 6 different hvac companies come in to check the system so I believe it’s an ongoing issue.

It was a really nice hotel. Super cute. I like the whole vibe. My only issues were that the automatic light turned off in the middle of my shower. And the lights in the bathroom are really dark so it was hard to do like makeup and stuff. But otherwise it was overall and enjoyable experience and a good day. I would definitely go back again and highly recommend it to someone

The hotel was fine though hardly a 4 star. We stayed on the 7th floor where the room was a bit small but very cute, the water pressure was weak, no slippers were provided (might seem like a small thing but never had a hotel not provide some), the toilet paper was the thinnest I have ever seen, only one elevator out of two was available, and on top of that it was beaten up. In addition to all this it turns out you get 2 free bottle of waters in the room OR have to pay 2$ if you are not a member of their program which felt incredibly cheap. We also did not get refills even though we stayed more than one night. Then, when we needed an umbrella (another basic amenity for hotels of this standing), none were available and the concierge had to literally lend us her own personal umbrella (we felt so bad about this for her, what if she had to leave soon?). I do think the hotel and staff are fine but it feels like the management tried to cut costs everywhere they could which of course impact’s the hotel standing.

Yelp
Extremely disappointing. We had been there several times when it was the Onyx and it was terrific. The Pennyweight was a letdown. All the staff were very friendly, except for the clerk who checked us in. He was surly and disinterested. That was not a great way to begin. My husband and I walk with canes and their handicap door didn't work. I reported it on the first day, but when we left a week later, it still didn't work. I was surprised that you had to request maid service the night before. At the very least I thought that they would make the bed without asking, but they don't. I consider that one of the treats of staying at a hotel. Otherwise, I can stay at an Airbnb and have my bed not made. Finally, my husband I, again using canes, had to load our luggage onto a cart, maneuver it into the elevator and bring it to our room. Then return the cart. Frankly for $400+ night, all these things should have been included by default. We have had better service at a Holiday Inn for half the money.

Yelp
This is now called The Pennyweight, and offered through Hilton Curio collection. From the time we arrived, we felt like VIP guests. Even though our room wasn't ready, we were hours early, they held onto our bags while we explored the area. Upon entering our room, we knew we were going to enjoy our three nights. It is well appointed with a nice wet bar area and an Illy coffeemaker. It would have been nice to have a larger trash bin under the sink, though. It was a larger room with plenty of room for storage of your luggage and shopping finds. The bar and lobby area are modern and comfortable. There is also an outdoor space attached to the bar area, a cute little market by the front desk. Valet was good, too. The front desk staff was some of the best I've encountered in my travels. Young , well put together, patient, polite and professional. We had tickets to a Celtics game, TD Garden is a four minute walk, so that was a breeze. Not to mention the amount of food and bars in the area. We walked around the North End, the Freedom Trail, Waterfront, West End, and only left to drive to Salem for the afternoon. I am looking for a reason to return to Boston just to stay at this hotel again. Thank you for everything!
