Pennyweight Hotel Boston was a really nice stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom stood out as especially well done. The location is excellent and makes getting around the city easy. Staff were friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Nothing felt over the top, just solid and well executed. l'd happily stay here again on a future trip.

The hotel is in a beautiful historic building and located in a great part of town, just a short walk from North Station, TD Garden, and plenty of great restaurants. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. If you are driving, be prepared for valet-only parking at $67 per night plus tip, with no self-parking options nearby. To make matters worse, the valet service does not start until 7 a.m., so if you need to leave early, you will have to retrieve your vehicle yourself. The staff were polite but seemed inexperienced and somewhat disengaged. I often saw them on their phones or chatting rather than assisting guests. My room was small and described as “historic,” but that charm came at the expense of comfort. The table barely fit a laptop, and the bed was overly soft, leading to several restless nights. The on-site restaurant has a limited food menu but does offer some good drinks. Another frustration was that the shower took nearly ten minutes to heat up. Overall, while the location and building have a lot of potential, the experience does not justify the price. I would likely stay elsewhere next time.

As a Hilton Diamond Member, I cannot state how deeply frustrating, disappointing and shockingly bad this whole stay at the Pennyweight. It starts off when entering the hotel. When I entered, the front desk associated was sitting on a chair out of view of clients entering the hotel and is seemingly inconvenienced when you are checking in. This person shows no warm hospitality feeling but more of a cold annoyance and very unwelcoming. Management should remove the tool behind the front desk where the front desk associate can hide behind from the clients. Second, the property is a refresh of the old Onyx hotel that was pretty run down. The outside is full of transient homeless people and questionable people. If you are a solo traveler, I would avoid this hotel due to safety reason. I sometimes didn't feel comfortable walking from the North station back to the hotel. The hotel elevator smells of foul odor. it seems like there is a connection with the sewage the hotel elevator. The rooms are fine but the air-conditioning is too loud and makes it hard to fall asleep. Last but not the least and the most egregious things is that they double charge you by taxing the destination fee. In other words, they also tax the junk fees they put on top of your daily room rate. So when you get your folio/receipt, for one night of the room rate, you will see 9 other line items of taxes in your invoice. These has never been a problem to the other Hiltons in Boston like the Double Tree or Canopy. This hotel is squeezing and nickel and dining you more than the other hotels. They even screwed up taking into account my food and beverage credit. This will pose a problem if you have to submit this for reimbursement for work. Ultimately this is a terrible hotel to stay at. Stay with either Canopy, the normal Hilton, Double Tree or the Hyatts in the city. You can't put lipstick on a pig and this is the epitome of it.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Right next to TD Garden, and very walkable to just about anywhere. Location felt very safe. Hotel was well maintained. Service was excellent. Eddy was very helpful to us during our stay. The water in the lobby was great, but a water fountain in the gym would be amazing. The fridge in the room was also a little small, but not anything to make a negative impact on our stay.

I’ve stayed here multiple times for business based location and convenience. Hotel itself is fine for a quick stay. I’ve had small issues (like coming into a my new room to find a fully clogged toilet), but they’ve always moved me to new rooms. Not smooth or convenient, but at least a solution. Truly disappointed in customer service, particularly as a repeat customer. No consideration for circumstances that are out of a person’s control with punitive and rigid terms. No offer to find a solution. Cold and unsympathetic response from the manager, Hannah Miles. Won’t be my go to for business stays in the future.

The hotel is a minute walk from TD Garden which is perfect for us with our bruins season tickets. We love the hotel; it’s cozy, elegant and clean. The 155 Portland restaurant has a limited menu but the food is EXCELLENT!! Bradley there was awesome accommodating our son who is a picky eater and getting us drinks that weren’t even on the menu. The staff at this place really care and made us feel at home.

The hotel room is fine, though small. I rented it because of the ease of access to locations of interest. Unfortunately, the fan coil unit or distributed heat pump on the ceiling would not cool at all. In fact, the hotel reset the control panel (Ecosmart) once after I complained that it was 80F in the room with a cooling call for 65F. The reset brought it down to 76F. I went to sleep (sort of) and woke up to find that the fan coil was pushing hot air and the room was approaching 90F. The night attendant could not do anything, since they did not know how to reset the Telkonet garbage controls. I checked the airfilter and it was filthy. No matter how many times I turned the thermostat on or off it would start with a fan, the switch to blowing further hot air. I finally resorted to leaving the door fully open with a table propping it. I asked to be moved and they had no rooms to offer. It was a miserable experience and I did not sleep at all.

This hotel is beautiful but not the topic of my review. Josyia is without doubt the reason for our 5 star review. We had called ahead to request a pack n play for our daughter who is incapable of sleeping in our bed. They saw our Hilton status and assured us there would be one when we checked in. However, when we checked in, they were all in use in other rooms. Josyia decided to find a way to say yes to us and walked to a partner hotel to secure a pack n play for our baby girl. Within minutes she was asleep and calm all thanks to Josyia’s efforts. This is the Curio Experience.

Yelp
Stayed here on a business trip and my first time to Boston. Absolutely loved it here. The room was small but super ornate and cozy-cool touches like a faux fireplace and eclectic wallpaper in bathroom. Everything was very clean. Walking distance to so many sites (under a mile). Will stay on return trips. Only downfall is how dark the street is outside, super dark.

Yelp
Excellent location with modest amenities and pleasant rooms with everything a business traveler needs, though somewhat limited compared to larger Hilton properties as expected.

Yelp
This is now called The Pennyweight, and offered through Hilton Curio collection. From the time we arrived, we felt like VIP guests. Even though our room wasn't ready, we were hours early, they held onto our bags while we explored the area. Upon entering our room, we knew we were going to enjoy our three nights. It is well appointed with a nice wet bar area and an Illy coffeemaker. It would have been nice to have a larger trash bin under the sink, though. It was a larger room with plenty of room for storage of your luggage and shopping finds. The bar and lobby area are modern and comfortable. There is also an outdoor space attached to the bar area, a cute little market by the front desk. Valet was good, too. The front desk staff was some of the best I've encountered in my travels. Young , well put together, patient, polite and professional. We had tickets to a Celtics game, TD Garden is a four minute walk, so that was a breeze. Not to mention the amount of food and bars in the area. We walked around the North End, the Freedom Trail, Waterfront, West End, and only left to drive to Salem for the afternoon. I am looking for a reason to return to Boston just to stay at this hotel again. Thank you for everything!

Yelp
Extremely disappointing. We had been there several times when it was the Onyx and it was terrific. The Pennyweight was a letdown. All the staff were very friendly, except for the clerk who checked us in. He was surly and disinterested. That was not a great way to begin. My husband and I walk with canes and their handicap door didn't work. I reported it on the first day, but when we left a week later, it still didn't work. I was surprised that you had to request maid service the night before. At the very least I thought that they would make the bed without asking, but they don't. I consider that one of the treats of staying at a hotel. Otherwise, I can stay at an Airbnb and have my bed not made. Finally, my husband I, again using canes, had to load our luggage onto a cart, maneuver it into the elevator and bring it to our room. Then return the cart. Frankly for $400+ night, all these things should have been included by default. We have had better service at a Holiday Inn for half the money.

Yelp
Hotel is very cute and room was nice but customer service needs work. Bartender tonight was extremely rude. He gave out free drinks to everyone but us at the bar. When we sat down, we didn't even get greeted. Horrible customer service when asking about drink availability. Asked if someone from our party was 21 (but didn't ID them) and when they said yes, he said "are you sure" in a very demeaning and condescending way. Will never go back to this restaurant or hotel.

Yelp
We found the staff somewhat cold. This hotel does not have smart tvs! Who in this century does not have smart tvs in 2025! We walked 32,000 steps for two days and 20,500 today. Just wanted to stay in and relax tonight and catch up on a show. We stayed in the Omni Parker House for three night for the same price. I would not recommend staying here!

Yelp
We recently stayed at Pennyweight Hotel to see the Linkin Park concert at TD Garden on Friday night. All of the staff were so friendly and professional. This made our night and time even more pleasant than expected. I would like to name three individuals who gave us exemplary customer service. They were Jasyia at the front desk for our check in and he was helpful and answered our questions. We had some drinks and food at the hotel bar area, and Daniel and Jeffrey were so friendly and also gave us amazing customer service. All three of these employees are top notch.
