"Amsterdam’s diversity is on full display when locals from Suriname, Turkey, Morocco, and Eastern Europe vent at the “speaker’s stone” in this large park in East Amsterdam every Sunday at 1:00 PM. Designed in the English landscape style, Oosterpark has a natural feel, with a pond populated by grey herons and a few rare, wild parrots. Among the numerous monuments are one commemorating the abolition of slavery in the Netherlands in 1861 and another honoring Theo van Gogh, a distant cousin of the painter who was murdered in 2004 by a Muslim extremist. Streams, walking paths, and a children’s wading pool make this a great place to chill, with fewer tourists than Vondelpark or Westerpark — except in July, when Oosterpark hosts the Amsterdam Roots Festival, the city’s largest world music event." - MATADOR_NETWORK

It's a beautiful park with a water fountain, flowers, birds but I didn't feel quite safe as a solo traveler. There were a lot of high people on the street yelling and some were doing like heavy drugs behind the bushes

Great spot for running. Love to run but dread the busy and almost lethal streets of Amsterdam with the in my opinion mostly aggressively biking cyclists? Make your way to Oosterpark and run without fear being hit by a bullet bike.

Great Park, has everything you want from a park. Nice walking areas, shaded areas, plenty of benches and places to sit. Water fountains if you're thirsty and we saw a few vendors selling ice cream s, drinks, etc. Some big areas to play football, let the dog off, also some kids swings, slides and adult equipment with a tennis court.

A very nice urban park with many different kinds of people and uses, ranging from jogging and skateboarding to drinking and (for the kids) playing in the water. Laid-back, nice vibes. The hotels have become too dominant after the renovation but it's still an exceptionally vibrant and beautiful park.

My favorite park in Amsterdam. It’s a park with fountains, places for picnics, small bridges to cross the river and there are some cafes you can relax. Ideal for a small picnic in-town and great fun place for dogs and dog walkers. You can go for a jog along the water or pick up coffee and go for a walk. Don’t forget to enjoy the best homemade ice-cream! Definitely lovely little park with plenty of grass, benches, and beautiful flowers

Nice little park with 2 playgrou d areas and a fitness area. Also a nice little pond with ducks. The back of the park has some sketchy people. You can comfortably walk in this park without having to look out for crazy byciclers.

Really nice park east of the central part of Amsterdam. It felt a lot like Vondelpark, but smaller and more geared towards locals than for tourists. It had several different sections, including an open lawn, several sculptures, and multiple sports areas. Great place to bring a book, a picnic, or just a blanket to relax on. Also, the wild parrots were fun to see! It’s walking distance from the central part of town, but also easily accessible via public transportation and/or bike.
