Oosterpark

Oosterpark has beautiful views and is definitely another must-see stop in Amsterdam. It’s a spacious, peaceful park with wide grassy areas, lakes, and plenty of trees that create a relaxing atmosphere. It’s perfect for walking, sitting by the water, or just taking a break from the noise of the city. There are also playgrounds, open spaces for picnics, and several interesting monuments and sculptures scattered around the park. The surrounding neighborhood is lively and multicultural, with cafés and restaurants nearby, so it’s easy to combine a visit to the park with a drink or something to eat.

A beautiful park, offering an incredible running course loop of 1.7km and shorter distances. It features several water fountains and lush lawns, making it a serene space for sports, relaxation, group meetings, and more. Osterpark is really a pleasant place to spend time. The park has well-maintained greenery, with a beautiful lake that makes the environment very peaceful. There’s also a fountain that adds a special charm to the place. Overall, Osterpark is a great spot to relax and enjoy nature.

Fresh air, green grass, clean pathways, a pond and lots of benches. It’s a peaceful and well maintained park, perfect for a quiet escape.

What a beautiful park to stroll, play and be with nature. Today I saw the most beautiful scene of kids playing sports together. It was so heartwarming to watch on a beautiful Fall day!!!🍁🍂🍃

Located in the city’s east, this is a beloved neighborhood park known for its strong sense of community and cultural integration. Originally designed in the late 19th century by L.A. Springer, only the southern section—with its lawns, tree clusters, and small pond—was completed, while the northern area remained undeveloped for decades. Between 2010 and 2018, the park underwent a major redesign led by Buro Sant en Co, aiming to improve connectivity, accessibility, and integration with the surrounding urban fabric.

This park is beautiful! Some parts are by busy roads but it is very nice and quiet in the center. The only restrooms we found were porter potty's. Overall there was great wildlife and wonderful birdwatching. The fountain in the center was great too. Awesome place!

Medium size park. It's near the Tropenmuseum and several tram and bus stops. Looks nice. I saw several types of birds at the pond. Pigeons, ducks, seagulls (?), ravens (?).

Nice park in east Amsterdam. There is also a memorial to the slaves and the history of the Dutch with them. Easy to get to my tram or bike too.

It's a great public space, make no mistake about it. And the lake and trees are beautiful. How could it be better? Why is every time I walk through it seems as if the roads and paths are in a constant state of repair? It's like a freaking construction zone right now in arguably the nicest part of the year. Ah well, I guess to really enjoy it you need to get off of the places you're supposed to walk and get onto the grass. Noted.

I stayed for a week in the Hotel Tropen right next door. I enjoyed the proximity to the park. I spent several mornings here with my coffee and book during my recent visit. There are trails for walking, biking, nice water features, and kiddie wading pool, all next to some food carts too!

Playground is really a single contraption that's maybe ideally suited for kids 4-8. Younger than that, and it's a bit hard to maneuver; older and possibly not enough element of danger.

This small park is a nice little place to hangout towards the east side of the city. It's located not too far from the zoo and has two metro stops nearby. Oosterpark is a great retreat from all the busy streets and sidewalks, great place to come sit and read a book. Lots of paths to walk around the lake in the middle and plenty of areas to simply enjoy nature inside of a large city. Lots of weird statues inside as well.

We rode our bikes through the park and it was beautiful. So much action going on here. There was a gazebo in the park where people were taking salsa lessons in the open. It was beautiful to watch. The trees provided shade throughout most of the park and the stream that runs through attracts beautiful birds.

J'adore this park! It's really quite lovely and in my neighborhood. I stroll through often just to get a little slice of 'nature' in the city. The park is a great size and lots of little areas carved out for different activities: soccer, yoga, running, tai chi, you name it - it's going on there. There are tennis courts, a skate park, rollerblading area, kids areas, lakes, bridges, statues and lots of birds, ducks, jack rabbits, puppies running around. Good spot for a stroll, run, bike or a picnic in the summer.

Oosterpark is on the east side of Amsterdam. It's located behind the Tropenmuseum, which is recognize as one Amsterdam leading museum. I use to enjoy waking up to do regular jogs around the park in the morning. I lived on Prins Hendrikkada, so it was an ideal jog for me from my place. Oosterpark is a great park for jogs,walks and picnics. Once I started doing daily jogs in this park, then it finally hit me that Amsterdam was truly going to be my new home. It's a great place to enjoy one of the many green spaces in Amsterdam. What drew me in about this park was it's beautiful stretched out grassy fields that are surrounded by lovely bridges and ponds. This unique park contains several monuments in recognition of the Dutch place in history. Oosterpark attracts mostly locals and some visitors. This diverse park is also noted for Amsterdam popular"Roots Festival" in the summer. However like every park it attracts. bums, so don't let that deter you from enjoying the park. Oosterpark welcomes all...so please do enjoy!

Good for all of the free facilities! I like this park as it's not as busy as Vondelpark and there are much less cyclists, which make it easier to run with your pooch. There are also several playgrounds which are nice for making your own outdoor gym. It's not my favorite but they're in the middle of renovations to make it bigger and more beautiful so it just might move up on my list! Plus, the park has two free tennis courts as well as a basketball court, which are generally free in the daytime. A great find!

Ok park in the working class neighborhood of Oost is nice to stroll around during the day. Ideal for picnicking or people watching. However, you may want to avoid it past sundown, it gets a bit sketchy.

If you ever wonder where the homeless drunks are hanging out, swing by this park.

I really like this park. It is wide and spacious and so nice in summer. Cycling through here is also much nicer than through Vondelpark; not as much tourists and not as much people in general. Still, it can get pretty crowded when the weather is nice, but in a good way. Oosterpark is very gezellig! Around the park are also nice bars located like De Biertuin and Bar Bukowski.

Not sure if it was the mushrooms but my friend and I had a blast roaming around this park during a trip to Amsterdam a few years ago. Stayed for hours or at least it seemed like hours.

Basically my backyard, the oosterpark is a very nice break from the city in the midst of the city. Go for a walk, play a little tennis or enjoy the birds and the bees. Several bootcamp classes at night keeps the park from becoming a no go area as it lacks lightning and overdoes weirdo's when it gets dark (bringing a strong male pal is most probably the safest solution). Still a wonderful park!
