This is a wonderful old Theatre built in the late 1700s. The outside architecture is like the Parthenon. The interior of the theater is beautifully appointed and richly decorated. It has fought years within the auditorium. It is shaped like a horseshoe in front of the stage, and we were fortunate enough to buy tickets to see the ballet. A wonderful experience with a brilliant troop of dancers. There are guided tours available to book and I highly recommend visiting this beautiful building.

The Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux is a stunning building with impressive architecture and rich history. The details inside are truly breathtaking, and it’s definitely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates classical design. However, we were disappointed that access was very limited—we could only see a small part of the theater instead of exploring more of the beautiful spaces. Still, it’s a must-see landmark in Bordeaux, and if you can catch a performance, it’s probably even better!

I took a visit, not an opera performance. The architecture of the building is very interesting and beautiful but the experience was not that pleasant. The guide was late, I had to follow him during all the time (I prefer to take my time to enjoy the place). Even other guide come tell him that we can't stay there in that moment...

8ncredible architecture in this Grand Théâtre. Well worth the visit. If you can't get event tickets, I suggest booking a guided tour with the Tourist Office. These are offered in French, English and Spanish (maybe more languages).

We were extremely lucky to have the chance to take part on a tour inside this beautiful building - it is opened for visitors for only two days every year. The concert hall is a gem (though the seats are not from the most comfortable ones), and there is a great view from the balcony.

Did you know that you can buy cheaper tickets just an hour before the spectacle? Beautiful masterpiece of Victoria Louis

For me it was the best architectural monument to see in Bordeaux... Highly recommended to buy advance tickets if you want to enter inside. Obviously for me the best view was at night when all the lights were lit up.

Huge building with pillared facade, very impressive, making a statement to Bordeaux whealth. Situated in a square surrounded by cafes

Yelp
The name of structure aptly fits its look. With holiday lights projected on its facade, the theater even looked more impressive. We were lucky to get tickets to Giselle before its run ended. While I didn't know anything about the show beforehand, I appreciated the beauty of both the dance and music. The seats we got were not great as I practically had to stand up to even see anything. Overall, I still enjoyed myself despite the non-view of my seats.

Yelp
Beautiful on the outside and spectacular on the inside, it is one of the most beautiful neoclassical buildings in the city. It was first inaugurated in 1780, and restored in 1991. It is the house of the Opera National of Bordeaux as well as the Ballet National of Bordeaux. If you have the opporunity to see a concert or a ballet, don't miss it. You can also visit the theater for 3 euros.

Yelp
When I lived in Bordeaux, the Grand Theatre was is disrepair. I remember buying a ticket to see Madame Butterfly and my seat was behind a post, meaning that I never saw the opera, only heard it. This spectacular building has been renovated to the glory of its Neoclassical origin. You can buy a ticket for a tour or if a performance is in progress, make sure to see a performance. Enjoy the beauty of the gem of the city.

Yelp
Identical experience to Virginie P. Beautiful building but very poor customer service. Mixture of incompetence and arrogance. I paid 49 euros to see an opera buying my ticket online. I had no view of the stage co couldn't see the décor, singers or dancers. Waste of money. No warning when booking that the seat was restricted view (should have read "no view") When I complained some clown suggested that in future I should check with box office as to whether a view was provided with the seat. Based on Virginie P's review this may not even help. Guided tour at 3 euros sounds like better value, as at least you get to see the stage.
