"Paris Opera House The Palais Garnier, the national opera house of Paris , is a magnificent building dripping in ornate details and glittering with gold. The five-ton chandelier, made famous in The Phantom of the Opera , still takes center stage in the auditorium. It is surrounded by a swirling, colorful ceiling painting by Marc Chagall. The decoration goes beyond the auditorium: The grand foyer rivals the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, and the grand staircase is an entryway fit for royalty. You don't need to buy a ticket to the opera to see the space: Tours are given daily in a variety of languages."
They left us in the pouring rain, very sick the next few days but it was lovely after finally getting in. And yes we had advanced tickets for 10am, got in at 1040 and we were at the front of the line. Why did they just stand there keeping so many in the rain when they have a huge covered entrance? The most inhumane thing I've ever seen. I wonder how many were sick after that.

Breathtakingly beautiful building. Unfortunately the main auditorium wasn't available for viewing but the rest was very special. Would have liked to have had a coffee, but couldn't find the entrance to the restaurant. We walked the exterior perimeter too, and took a "tacky" but fun picture with "angel wings" as background.

The Opéra Garnier is nothing short of magnificent, and my recent visit to this iconic Parisian landmark was an unforgettable experience. From the moment you step inside, the grandeur of the building sweeps you off your feet. The architecture is breathtaking—ornate details, marble staircases, gold leaf accents, and the stunning ceiling painted by Marc Chagall all combine to create a space that feels both opulent and magical.

One of the most beautiful and picturistic place in Paris... Remember to take photos in the similar directions as I have added in this review... How to reach this place... M3 line will be the best way to get here...
Most important if you are in Paris during July and End of December then you are lucky to get huge discounts on branded cholthes, accessories and other products...

Be careful in the metro here.. I am 72 years old and have travelled around the world to over 70 countries in my lifetime. Sadly, I got pickpocketed in Paris in the metro at this station on my way to Trocadero to see Eiffel Tower on my first day of visit. Losing all the money, credit cards and not speaking French was a disaster, but I had the fortune of coming across a young parisian guy who walked me to the police station and explained our position (I was with my wife). It showed there are honest people in the world .. thank you.. but it took the shine off my experience of Paris... I love France, but I didnt expect this to happen to me

Incredible building, both inside and out.
Along with the many incredible places to visit in Paris, add the Opera House for a stop.
Walking inside you can feel the history of performers and patrons alike. In addition, the artwork and architecture is amazing.
As we wrapped up our first day in Paris, we sat across from the Opera House @ “Café de la Paix,”enjoyed a cheese plate and drink in their outside seating.
We had a wonderful time listening and watching the sights and sounds of Paris.

Formerly called Académie Royale de Musique, better known as the Opéra. Classical ballet is being shown here. Official name is Opéra National de Paris. Very nice building. Iconic. and huge. Facade is magnificent. So many tourists walking and taking pictures. There's a fee to see and enter the building. Did not watch any shows but just wander around the building. During my visit, there was a movie being shoot in front of the building. The theme was kinda old because of the costumes of the actors and actresses. So many people were watching during the movie making.
