Opononi Hotel Limited

We booked a “Deluxe Villa” for 2 nights via Booking.com. Upon arrival, we were a bit disappointed: there was no oven or stovetop, only a 2-element hotplate. There’s no AC—just an HRV system and a heater, which I had to use together to manage the room temperature on the cold night. We couldn’t find an extra blanket. The rooms are spacious, but cleanliness was a concern: we found unknown black spots in the bed and spider webs behind doors up to the ceiling. There was no body wash, only shampoo. After speaking to reception, they promptly changed the beds, provided soap, and replaced the hotplate that wasn’t working well. We had a complimentary breakfast, which was a simple continental style. My son found an ant in his yogurt, which they immediately replaced. The second night was difficult as there was a very loud party throughout the night, and we couldn’t find anyone to help. After complaining to Booking.com and the hotel, we received a sincere apology and a refund for one night. Despite these issues, this is a great place for families: there’s plenty of fun for kids during summer, and the staff are friendly and do their best. I highly recommend stopping by for drinks or food.

It was a lovely place. Clean and neat. We stayed at the top row of bungalows. Staff was professional and very friendly. The "meat lover" pizza is really great. Fish and chips down the road was also very good though the portions were small indeed. We didn't have noises from the restorant to bother us probably not many people at the time/ end of December/ or just the location of our bungalow. Recomend the place indeed.

This hotel is pretty iconic and right on the waterfront. the room was nice, and we were lucky to have one with a deck overlooking the bay. Was a little noisy due to family with lots of kids but other than that a great stay and something to tick off the bucket list.

We stopped here and had a lovely pizza. The view was gorgeous and vibe was relaxed. Unfortunately the coffee machine was out of order so we had to get that from somewhere else. The staff were friendly and efficient. Thank you.

Friendly and very helpful host. The hotel provided great food. Accommodation was French Country style and was clean, tidy and comfortable.|A real NZ Kiwi experience

Room was disgusting. ||Couches were disgusting they were sticky ||blood down the side of lounge || pubes in shower ||Cleaners only sprayed bug spray and floor was really slippery ||Cleaners told me there was nothing wrong with it ||Reception lady was lovely left and day early ||||Have photos and videos but this sight won’t let me upload them

Had lunch. Great service. Fresh fish served with lots of fries. Very reasonable. Awesome view across the harbour !

Good service. Decent food. Ribs were good, no complaints about the burger and chips
