Opononi Hotel Limited

The hotel was older but rooms were clean and had a lovely little balcony with a great view. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Even though the room that we were in it didn’t distract from the overall experience. The had a continental breakfast provided that was adequate for our needs, juices, cereals, yogurt, fruit, cheese and meat Selection and toast and a selection of jams and spreads.

I stayed up the hill in room number 3. Amazing location and view. Friendly staff but the unit was tired and not maintained. The main bed was on roller skates when you got on it and the fridge sounded like a native bird singing in the middle of the night. If I knew I would not have any wifi it would have been a deal breaker. Apparently some units have wifi and some don't. Mine was a "don't" What the hell is that all about? Its about units being privately owned and some owners being too cheap to offer wifi. If I was the hotel I think it would be part of the contract with the owner that wifi was in place and working. Watch out for Number 3!

The evening staff were very friendly and provided great hospitality, giving us a lovely room with an amazing ocean view. However, the experience with the morning staff was disappointing. We ordered scrambled eggs, but the portion was ridiculously small—the smallest plate I’ve ever been served. They added four half-slices of toast, likely to make it look more substantial, but even the toast was moldy. Honestly, don’t waste your money on the cooked breakfast at this hotel. Stick to the continental options like cereal and toast (as long as it’s not moldy).

Food was excellent, especially the sticky date pudding. Accommodation was great as well, very welcoming and hospitable staff.

Stayed on Room 15, a balcony unit. View from balcony was stunning and the bed was clean and comfortable. However, the hand basin was severely cracked and the cracks were filled with black.!!! There was a big stain on the carpet in the bedroom. Space between the toilet seat and shower was limited. Breakfast was included in the tariff but we didn't bother to stay.|I would not recommend.

I went on a healing journey and I found my recovery place. The staff at the bar, the ladies who keep the hotel comfortable, the staff who answer my silly questions. Wonderful. I wouldn’t go just for the kai however breakfast is a good way to start the day. Feeling grateful

Nice place, friendly staff. Unfortunately the food doesn't have the same standard. Had the opo burger expecting something special being called the opo burger and expensive, but ended up being a very sad looking cheese burger.

Dropped in for an evening meal. Had great fish and chips and a beer to reward myself after a long day on the motorbike.
