The Opuntia is right on the seafront Puerto Baquerizo, San Cristobal, a truly spectacular location. The owner is a real character and goes out of her way to make guests feel comfortable and the other staff are equally friendly and helpful. There is a small swimming pool and our room was clean, bright and comfortable. Our only concern was that one window had no curtains or blinds so the sun streamed in very early in the morning. Breakfast was basic but more than adequate and to be able to sit eating it while watching the sea-lions, blue footed boobies and pelicans in the bay was amazing.

Fantastic hotel. Highly recommend for experience and value. Tiny (12 room) boutique property, uber focused on service and cleanliness. Overlooks the harbor, (we could see our cruise ship) very bright and spacious room, outstanding breakfast (custom eggs, yogurt, fruit, breads & meats), very nice pool. Newer and powerful AC in the rooms. You can buy bottles of wine on site. I managed resorts for 40 years.. you can do the very corporate IHG Indigo hotel next door for twice the price, or stay here for a much more intimate and “real” experience. Any comments about the sea lion noise at night are missing the point of being here (or just close your sliding glass doors onto the harbor!!)

As many of stated, you are met with a nice glass of juice and readily checked in. Thats where the pleasantry ends if you get an interior room. The rooms are spacious but not really situated well. The main bed (a double bed) is right at the door, then had two singles off to the other side of the room. The AC was marginal, keep the room cool at night but the staff kept turning it off so the room got hot during the day. Had troubles with hot water but that was fixed(ish) the next day. There is no WiFi or television in the room, as well as no refrigerator to keep drinks cool- unless you use the community fridge in the reception area. But the fridge gets locked at 8:30pm when the staff leave for the night- so if you want a cold drink while sitting in the common area to use the WiFi better get it before 8:30pm. Not a 3- star hotel by any means. Especially when there is a hostel two blocks down the street that offers everything this place doesn’t. Casa Opuntia is nicely located overlooking the pier and you can hear the sea lions barking all day and night. You have plenty of dining options all around as well plenty of souvenir shops near by.

My adult family stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. It isn’t a glitzy hotel, but it was perfect for our stay in San Christobal. It’s small and cosy, the rooms were well decorated and clean. The staff were so so helpful and friendly. We had breakfast everyday at the hotel, whilst not extensive, it was well prepared and delivered with love and care. The hotels location is perfect right in front of the harbour. You can literally walk twenty paces to see sea lions on a beach and iguanas basking on the hat our rocks, I would certainly go back there.

Absolutely delightful! Comfortable room, climate controlled, plenty of hot water, GREAT breakfast and super warm and friendly staff. Location is superb! I would choose this hotel again without question. Strong WiFi works everywhere on the grounds and in room. 2 pool areas, and wine available for purchase in lobby. Plenty of fresh, filtered water available 24/7 in lobby, but also refilled in room too. There is a safe in the room also. VERY clean and comfortable. Pay in advance online- LOVED it!

The service here was above and beyond. Fresh juice on arrival, delicious breakfast in the mornings. The location is perfect. The finches are adorable and we loved the views. Our room was large & cleaned daily. We also used one of the pools and it was surprisingly warm. Perfect for our honeymoon.

The best part of this hotel are the employees. The hotel manager assisted us several times to create a wonderful short stay in the Galapagos. Her recommendations worked out perfectly. Breakfast was delicious with your choice of eggs. The location is also fantastic, close to everywhere and easy to walk around to dinner for explore beaches. We weren't sure what to expect but it exceeded our expectations in the way they approach customer service and set expectations.

We loved our honeymoon stay at Opuntia. The staff was excellent, very friendly, accommodating and helpful. The location is incredible, right on the main boardwalk, beside hundreds of very chatty sea lions and a few loyal pelicans. Breakfast was great every morning, with finches flying around the cactus plants in the breakfast area. It’s kid friendly and has a couple pools. We met other guests and did stand up paddle boarding through the hotel, which was a ton of fun. A couple of things to note for travellers, they take the environment of the island seriously (as they should) so there are some minor inconveniences. The wifi was also quite spotty in some rooms (we moved rooms during our stay - not because of anything negative) but it’s great in the lobby areas. We would highly recommend getting a room with a view of the ocean - it is worth the extra dollars!
