We love Orbit In. We have stayed here so many times that it feels like a second home. Everything about this property is perfect; the small size of this hotel is just right, the way that the rooms wrap around the pool, the way the lounge chairs are placed, the way the architecture comes alive at night.. perfection. The manager Brian really knows the hospitality business. He is so professional and takes his job very seriously yet somehow has the best personality and sense of humor! The ladies that service the rooms here are so good at what they do and are always working so hard to keep this hotel and the rooms SPOTLESS! Love the authentic mid-century vibe at this hotel.

This was the PERFECT Hotel for our small Family Reunion! We reserved ALL 9 of the rooms, so that we had the Entire Grounds and Amenities to ourselves, without having to share or worrying about disturbing any other guests. From the initial booking process (which we started a year in advance in order to secure All available rooms) to the very end on check out morning, it was FANTASTIC. The staff were Courteous, Kind and Professional at All times. The Rooms were meticulously clean, decorated and so cozy! The Bar Area was warm and welcoming to all attendees, boasting a daily stock of Keurig Coffee, various teas, oatmeal, granola, and a Large Fridge stocked with Yogurt, waters and soft drinks, at our disposal Daily. The pool was cleaned each day, and was plenty large enough for our group to enjoy, along with a warm jacuzzi There were also bikes to ride at our disposal. It was Three Days and Nights of Total, Complete FUN without hassle, hurry or Worry of any kind. I HIGHLY recommend this Palm Springs Getaway, whether you're a couple, or small group. It was walking distance to the main street where we were able to enjoy the Street Fare put on Every Thursday Evening. The Office Manager, Brian, deserves a Special "THANK YOU" for all his effort put forth ensuring my family had EVERYTHING they needed to make their stay Comfortable and Complete! Brian was very attentive and made himself available above and beyond the call of duty! We will Definitely be coming back! Thank You Orbit In Staff!

This was the second time I stayed here and it’s safe to say I’m a loyal visitor to Orbit In. This time, I came with my wife and we felt very welcomed and safe. I’m absolutely in love with the grounds, the energy and the rooms. I’ve stayed in the Rat Pack and the Leopard Room, both very special and super spacious. Everything is very authentic to the mid century era so not everyone will get it.. but if you’re a fan of mid century design, you will be in heaven! It’s clear that there is a high level of respect for the property and that is expected from the guests as well. It’s truly an escape from reality to come here and bliss out. Can’t wait to be back!

The Orbit In is one of the most unique hotel's you can find. The caretaker, Brian, is extremely accommodating and very nice. The rooms are spacious and amazingly original. They have complimentary bikes you can use to pedal around downtown (which only a BLOCK away) or to the Art Museum (only TWO blocks away). And if you're not relaxed enough they have a daily poolside Orbit-ini Hour with free cocktails and retro music. I cannot get back to this place soon enough, and you would be lucky to stay here. The ONLY feedback I could possibly think of is to clean the pool a little more often. Thank you to the Orbit-In for a stay I won't soon forget! See you again soon.

Google
Enjoyed the mid century vibe with original features we enjoyed in The Rat Pack room such as original tiles and kitchen fridge / oven / sink unit. Brian was a great hose serving complementary Orbitini’s in happy hour and a chance to chat and learn about the hotel and Palm Springs. You didn’t have to join in however - you can be as private or friendly as you like you won’t be judged here. |The breakfast was limited to yogurt and cereal bars and coffee on tap but no fresh items or pastries as the booking suggested. |We’ve stayed in other properties and this is a great location for restaurants and shops - easily walkable yet quiet and near the famous tennis club. Would recommend.

We loved our stay at Orbit In. To stay in such an iconic setting was very special, we booked the Eames room which had everything needed for our stay. The mid century vibe is evident throughout the hotel and we loved the uniqueness that this provided. Brian was a great host, mixing plentiful Obitini cocktails by the pool each day during Happy Hour, this was not compulsory but we enjoyed the opportunity to chat to other guests over a drink before heading out. |We loved the warm pool and the complimentary sodas available from, the fridge~nice touch. We made use of the free bikes and explored the neighbourhood taking in all the mid century architecture and some modern additions. Plentiful restaurants nearby, we loved Spencer’s which was a 5 minute walk away.||Positives: |Great mid century vibe |Peaceful setting |Perfect location backed by the dramatic hills and within walking distance of everything |Free bikes |Pool at perfect temperature with cool beats gently playing in the background, plenty of sunloungers|Complimentary sodas available from the fridge |Orbitini hour with Brian||Negatives:|Our booking mentioned coffee and pastries each morning, there is plentiful coffee but no pastries. Just for information breakfast is a very help yourself affair at the poolside bar - yogurts in the fridge, sachets of ready to mix oatmeal, cereal bars, fruit. It suited us fine but be mindful of this if a full breakfast is part of your wish list.

Google
Our second stay at this dreamy mid-century gem. Perfectly located a short stroll from downtown. Decent-sized pool open 24/7. Sociable ambience, including poolside cocktails each evening. Free bike rental. Some thoughtful touches: fresh coffee every morning, complimentary soft drinks, vintage record player in rooms. Our only slight gripe was our room lacked natural light as it only had a window at the back. But this didn't detract from a very pleasant stay.

Google
Loved our stay - everything you could want in an authentic midcentury motel. There are only eight rooms around a central pool. Orbitinis are served daily at 4.30pm, allowing guests the chance to meet and share experiences - and get advice on what to do, brilliant way for visitors to feel connected. Easily walkable location to shops and dining and a really beautiful location in a street where every building is gorgeous. Very quiet and comfortable. We stayed in the Rat Pack Suite, with its fabulous pink bathroom. All the staff were so helpful and caring. Highly recommended.

Yelp
OMG - what an amazing stay! We only stayed (1) night, but I wish we could have stayed more! Everyone + everything about the Orbit in is so inviting + relaxing! The welcome drink, the set up of the rooms/common areas + the whole vibe is so immaculate. Location is amazing, staff is amazing + rooms were sooooo CLEAN + cute! This place might have the best housekeeping we've ever experienced. I can't wait to return + have already recommended this spot to friends!

Yelp
This little gem is our favorite place to stay! Clean and quiet and the staff are super friendly! We love the decor, and the rooms and pool are well maintained. Looking forward to our next trip here!

Yelp
Once again, another great trip at The Orbit In! Wonderful boutique hotel! We love it there. Brian took great care of it! He's absolutely charming!

Yelp
My wife and I have loved visiting the Orbit Inn. This year we had to cancel our reservation but the office failed to record our request. Imagine our surprise when we saw a $1255 charge on our credit card. The Orbit Inn's management team was deceitful and unwilling to acknowledge a simple miscommunication. Our warning to anyone wanting to spend a few days in Palm Springs. Please find another hotel.

Yelp
Cool, hip little boutique hotel with a 50's flare. Second time we have stayed here and love it. The 50's vibe is so cool. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms and pool area are always clean. We love walking out of our room and being steps away from the pool. They don't allow personal music or partying by the pool, which keeps the riffraff out. They do play a little music on their speakers, but wish it was slightly louder so you could hear it. The mornings are nice grabbing breakfast at the outdoor bar. We love this place and will be back.

Yelp
PARADISE! This place is still as wonderful as always. The new manager Robert is great. We loved Bill the previous manager but learned he moved on (don't assume the new owners let him go, not the case) and we enjoyed getting to know Robert. It's obvious that Robert cares about the hotel and about his position and he even noticed leaves on our patio when our gate was open and swept them up himself! POOL: The pool is very clean and well maintained. I observed the pool professionally serviced twice during our stay and every office employee personally skimmed the pool daily. Great layout around the pool with options for shade and the vibe is so RELAXING. This is not the hotel for a pool party, it is truly a replenishing and wonderful place to soak in the sun. AMMENITIES: Orbit In provides the use of beach cruisers, some with baskets for fun rides around town. There is a closet full of books and games to use by the pool or in your room. They have record players in every room and a vast library of vinyl to choose what you like. A sunscreen selection and bug spray is offered by the pool. They have a great poolside bar area where guests can make coffee or tea, a microwave for guests (which is great to hear up dinner left overs) as well as a nightly ORBITINI cocktail served to guests where you can get to know the other guests and socialize. And last but not least, a fridge full of sparkling water and soft drinks and yogurt for guests to enjoy. There are granola bars and instant oatmeal for snacks too! STAFF: The ladies that maintain this hotel do an AMAZING job and work their butts off in sweltering heat. Much credit is due to the ladies that keep Orbit In beautiful! Very nice too! This hotel is a GEM and it's great to see the new owners are not trying to change it. They are all only improving it. My husband and I love to watch movies in our room when it gets too hot and I learned they are upgrading TVs soon so that is wonderful. For those of you that have been here before and worry that new owners mean Orbit In will lose the things that make it special, don't. It's clear that the Orbit In remains in good hands!

Yelp
The Orbit In appears to be a converted 1950's apartment complex. When we arrived, we were greeted by Bill. He was friendly, fun, and incredibly helpful. He went to great lengths to show us around and help us understand all the amenities available to us. There are about nine rooms here, and we stayed in the Rat Pack Room. The room had a full period kitchen, period bathroom, and period living area with a comfortable king bed. In the room is a record player, and there are records you can borrow from the office to play in the room. The TV has many Chanel's from which to choose. The WiFi was strong. The couch and armchair couldn't be more comfortable. The 1950's theme is carried well throughout the room There is a jacuzzi, fire pit, outdoor bar (Bill offered, and we accepted, a complimentary glass of wine), Keurig available 24 hours, a common outdoor fridge stocked with snacks and sodas. We met and talked with a couple who have been coming here for 15 years. I completely understand why. We will return!

Yelp
We've been going to the Orbit In for over 10 years. I'm sad to report that our go-to getaway has completely changed - but not for the better. The previous owners (Kevin and Jinny) sold the hotel last year and now the terrific manager (Bill) has left as well. The new owners appear to be systematically deferring much needed maintenance, eliminating amenities and raising prices. All of this was apparent during our most recent stay in April. The Orbit In was a special place with great memories for us. Sadly, unless something changes, we will be looking for a new go-to in Palm Springs.

Yelp
Here's to a new tradition. Loved every relaxing moment of this modernistic desert oasis. Robert, the manager was beyond friendly, very helpful, and we really enjoyed his company. Nothing is overly fancy here but you have everything you need--most importantly peace and quiet. The Orbit In is tastefully decorated, it's very clean and there are nice little touches like snacks, a common fridge full of drinks, and a daily cocktail hour to chat with the guests. There's only 9 rooms here so you make friends fast. We met a couple who had been coming here for 20 years. Look forward to doing the same thing!

Yelp
If you are considering staying here, do yourself a favor and just book the room. If I could give Orbit In more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. My boyfriend took me to Palm Springs for my birthday and Kevin and Jinny made it one of the best birthdays I had ever had. We loved exploring Palm Springs but being able to come back to the Orbit In at the end of each day was the highlight of my whole trip. We stayed in the Rat Pack room which was so spacious with a kitchen, large bed, and a super cute pink bathroom! The hotel is incredibly clean and absolutely gorgeous. If you're a vintage furniture lover, you'll be in heaven. They have a fridge full of sparkling waters, drinks, and yogurts for their guests. I absolutely LOVED the happy hour and drinking orbitinis with other guests. The pool is heated to a very comfortable temperature and the hot tub is so relaxing. I had never tried a salt water hot tub until I stayed at Orbit In and now I don't want to use anything else! I can't thank Jinny and Kevin enough for being so welcoming and kind to us. Staying at the Orbit In was the relaxing weekend I needed and now I'm looking for an excuse to go again!! Absolutely wonderful hotel and wonderful people.

Yelp
Can't comment on our stay because we didn't get to stay. I booked a room on booking.com & received a confirmation. Then I got a subsequent email saying we were booked for 0 nights for $0... so I called the hotel directly. Turns out the room was double booked & we got screwed out of our room. So disappointing.

Yelp
This is a long overdue for Orbit In. My planned trip to Portugal this year had to be placed on hold due to this whole COVID craziness, so at the last minute I ended up in Las Vegas for a few days and then out to Palm Springs the week of July 4th. I ended up at Orbit In and could not have asked for a better experience. The place just oozes vintage mid-century modern! The rooms are all individual and decorated with a theme. I stayed in the Frey Lounge for the first half of the week which celebrates the architecture of Albert Frey. It has a fireplace (I couldn't get it to work, but to be perfectly fair, I also didn't say anything about it or ask for help), and an outdoor shower, which was amazing! Then I moved next door to BossaNova Ville (someone had already reserved this room for two days in the middle of my stay) which has a vintage Platner chair. I loved the coziness and privacy of the room. The pool is salt water and is so warm and relaxing! They have a fridge with sparkling waters (all different flavors), sodas, and juices. And around 5:00 or so, they have a happy hour with Martinis and wines. I never took part, as I was the only single person during my visit, but it looked cool! Plus, I'm a bit of an introvert. The owners were wonderful, and Bob made sure I had everything I needed. They even gave me a T-shirt just because. Oh! Did I mention the record players in each room, and the giant record collection in the office? Nothing like a little Sinatra while relaxing in the Frey Lounge. The best throw-back experience I've had in quite awhile. I will most definitely be back!

Yelp
we went back to the orbit in for our summer 2023 trip to palm springs. we stayed there a couple times over the years but like to try out the boutique hotels in palm springs. it was great to be back. the new owner really seems to be trying to keep the experience the same. there's still the very important orbit-ini hour, records & games for entertainment, a clean pool & a quiet/relaxed vibe. this is not a party hotel & that's why we love it. there are 9 rooms so it doesn't get crazy there. we will definitely be going back next year. robert, the new manager, does a great job filling the big shoes that bill the old manager left behind. he is very knowledgeable of palm springs & has great stories to share. we had a great time! thanks orbit in.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place 10 stars!!!! From the second I stepped foot on this property, I was IN LOVE!! Bill is the nicest guy and went so far above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of at all times. Then you step foot in the room and it's like a traveling back in time! The rooms (especially the pink bathroom) are amazing! The esthetic, decor, and vibe of Orbit In are so amazing. I was so sad when it was time to go home. If I could, I would move in immediately! I've already told 10 friends about it (they saw my pictures and wanted to book their own trip) and cannot wait to come back soon!! Definitely come check this place out! It's one of the best places I've ever stayed!!! Thanks Bill, Jade, and Orbit In staff!! Xo

Yelp
I have been wanting to stay at the Orbit In for about a decade. And it wasn't until I moved to Los Angeles that it was finally feasible. My fiancee and I decided to stay at Orbit In on the weekend that would have been our wedding weekend (which was postponed because of Covid). The Orbit In was once a residential property and since was converted to a hotel. It has nine rooms, which made our stay particularly pleasant, because there weren't many people around. In addition, the hotel is adults-only, so it was nice to not have boisterous children playing around in the pool. It's also easier to make friends with other guests, especially during Orbitini Happy Hour at 5PM. The hotel is exceptionally clean. Both the grounds and the room we stayed in were impeccable. Their cleaning staff (super nice ladies, BTW) apparently has been with them for a long time, which you rarely see in any hotel. The furnishings were so lovely. We had comfy mid-century furniture to sit on, and the bed was soft. We even had an adorable vintage kitchenette, complete with a mid-century refrigerator and stove (which work). A toaster, silverware, and cups/plates were also provided. If you love mid-century modern anything, this is a place you should stay in at least once (OK, maybe way more than that.). The pool area has comfortable pool loungers and striking vintage metal umbrellas. I'm not one to usually go lay out by a pool, but in this case, I enjoyed hanging out by pool and reading the news on my phone. The soft bossa nova music on the speaker was a nice touch. Not too loud, but just audible enough to add to the ambiance. There is an icemaker and a refrigerator that is stocked up with sparkling water, sodas, yogurt, and coffee creamer. There is also fresh coffee every morning, single-serve oatmeal, and granola available. Unfortunately, they aren't able to offer the continental breakfast as usual due to the pandemic, but what they do offer is still generous. The pool is incredibly refreshing (salt water, no chlorine), and both os us enjoyed taking dips to cool down. At night, the hot tub was awesome. There is even a fire pit you can turn on, further adding to the relaxing feel. Kevin and Bill are absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They are extremely attentive and sociable, so if there is something you need, don't be afraid to ask! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Orbit In and look forward to returning!

Yelp
These reviews are not inflated,.. this place is special. Top experience as far as hotels go. I'm not a pool sitter but I love mid-century modern architecture, and in fact the whole throwback thing is why I like Palm Springs,.. this place is a like a time machine. From the record player in each room, to the retro details, to the manager's shirt,.. this place is like a time machine and I loved it. Other reasons to go (just don't book when I'm going!!): -Orbitini cocktail hour at 5pm -site manager has extensive historical knowledge of the area -walkable from the strip -very few suites so it feels private, and no kids allowed! -5 min drive from airport!
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
We loved this place 20 years ago and we still love it now. The vintage atmosphere is so relaxing. The owners are so nice and had the pool heated up nicely for the cooler winter months. The rooms and beds are comfortable. The Orbitini martinis are delish! Lots of restaurants nearby with curbside and delivery during these Covid times.
google avatar

James U.

Yelp
It's the best hotel experience I've ever had. It rewards folks willing to research and book a hotel room, not on the mega hotel booking websites. I could go on and on about how incredible it is, but it would waste your time! Just scroll down, and you'll see all the same comments!
google avatar

Alexandrea Y.

Yelp
This was our first visit but won't be our last. The owners are very friendly and attentive hosts. Everything was very clean and inviting and the complimentary happy hour, snacks, record and movie selection, and other amenities made it a very pleasant stay. We can't wait to come back! Thanks for everything!
google avatar

R G.

Yelp
I hate giving good reviews but FINE! So this place is good for you if you appreciate vintage right down to the loungey pool music. Its super small so don't go there expecting a party even though they do have a martini happy hour! The room we stayed in was small but had everything we needed, fridge, plates, cups, napkins, a lil private patio and bluetooth record player. And again, vintage bathroom, pink tile, sink and toilet. They also let you use one of their many albums. They usually serve continental breakfast but during covid just coffee, yogurts, granola and instant oatmeal. They also have a water cooler and a fridge with soft drinks thats available 24 hrs. Also offer snacks in the lobby, when someone is in the office. Lastly, location! Walking distance to downtown, maybe 10 min?? We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I loved this little place! It's a refurbished hotel from 1957 and it has so much personality! The owners Jean and Kevin made me feel so welcome. When I arrived, Jean showed me all around and explained the amenities - drinks at the bar at Happy Hour, water cooler, breakfast items in refrigerator (yogurts, cereal, milk, etc.) Keurig coffee maker, tea, ice machine. The pool is large and inviting and there is also a jacuzzi! Bikes are available for guests and there were plenty of them. Each room is a bit different but all are creatively furnished with vintage Mid Century Modern finds to make your stay a step back in time. My room had a kitchenette and a private patio. The cleaning staff is amazing. There's a checklist for the surfaces they have cleaned, so I felt like everything was thoroughly disinfected. Also, the linens did smell very strongly of scent. I asked if I could get unscented linens for the bed and Kevin made it happen. Excellent customer service at Orbit In! There are cozy robes and towels for the pool in the closet. In the morning, it was heaven to sit outside by the pool sipping coffee with those mountains in the background. So beautiful and the perfect getaway. One of the best parts about this place is that you can easily walk a few blocks away to the downtown shops and restaurants. I was here for a wedding and when I was all dressed up in the middle of the day on a 95 degree Saturday, I checked with Jean about the location of the church (less than a mile away), as I had planned to walk. She kindly drove me over. Jean and husband Kevin are the kindest, most thoughtful hosts and run a fantastic business. I have already told my family and friends about this hidden treasure. I want to come back and am dreaming about my next trip!

Yelp
I cannot get ENOUGH of Orbit In! I wish I could be here all the time - this is what heaven is, in my dreams . So authentic mid-century modern - I love every little detail the owners have put into this place...it's clearly a passion of theirs, and not just a business. This is an experience, not just a "room" or a "stay". If I could give it 10 stars, I would. Peaceful and low-key...truly an oasis in this crazy world!
google avatar

Libby R.

Yelp
A cute mid century modern styled botique hotel near the main drag of Palm Springs. We stayed in the Bossa Nova room and enjoyed the patio and record player in our room. The pool was lovely and the staff was great. A great place to stay in Palm Springs.
google avatar

Gurrzt G.

Yelp
If you are looking for a throw back experience to the 1950's, these art deco, mid century modern rooms are the way to go. It takes you back to a simpler time, before "booty poppin" was all the rage. The staff is great, and prices reasonable.
google avatar

Alain M.

Yelp
As everybody wrote : five stars . Why ? Discover by yourself. A wonderful stay . Congratulations to the housekeeping team , it is not easy to do the Job in this vintage place . And thank you for the staff , kind and professional welcome .

Yelp
Another special boutique hotel in the oh so special Palm Springs (home sweet home). This is a mid century modern little gem that transports you to another era, that's what you want right?! Rooms adorned with vintage decor and a record player in each room to add to the nostalgic experience. The hotel is nestled against the mountain. Look up and see soaring palms, beautiful mountains and houses perched within. (sigh) It is walking distance to Palm Canyon Drive too. The rooms surround a saltwater pool. This is awesome! Thank you for the chlorine free experience. They serve Orbitini cocktails at happy hour from 5-6pm. This gives you the Rat Pack experience as you spin a Frank Sinatra Album in your room. They also serve a basic continental breakfast to get your day going. If you want a special experience that takes you away come visit Orbit In.
google avatar

Maryann M.

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about this place! It's a small, boutique hotel located within minutes of downtown. The salt water pool is so refreshing. They offer bikes to explore the neighborhood. You have access to a well stocked fridge with sodas, water etc. They do a great continetnal breakfast and happy hour that allows you to get to know the other guest and share experiences. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
What a lovely place and extremely friendly safe very clean rooms.. entrance to our room..

Yelp
I have been wanting to stay at Orbit In for years and was finally able to do so. The rooms are adorable and everything is well kept and perfectly clean, which is a big deal for me. The location is perfect and easily walkable to many restaurants and bars. The pool is extremely quiet, so it is a great place to bring a book. There is a fridge near the pool with non-alcoholic refreshments. It kind of feels like you are in somebody's back yard - very chill and relaxed. Definitely need to go back!
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
We absolutely love it here. It's a step back in time to the 50's and 60's. It's so impeccably clean and well taken care of. I even noticed the owner Kevin scrubbing each patio chair mid day. These little details matter. The pool is perfect, I love the high quality floaties, and the jacuzzi area is so cute. This was our 6th time here as we are avid midcentury architecture lovers. The owners Kevin and Jinny are so welcoming and nice. And the Orbit-inis at happy hour is a must.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! We can't rave enough about its charm, views, staff, decor or vibe. The mid century design and decor are wonderful. Our room had such a romantic vibe with great fireplace, outdoor shower and little bar. The bed was comfortable! We flew into Burbank and drove in late to beat traffic for a few days getaway. The hotel front desk was closed, but they had us all setup when we arrived late. They provided a code to let us in without problem. We pulled up to park directly in front, punched in the code and...We walked though a well designed and landscaped entrance to the most amazingly sweet piece of mid century design. I was simply delighted and actually skipped to our room! Check out our pano pix for view. So accommodating! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the outdoor shower super romantic. They offer a lovely continental breakfast and the bar is open all day for refreshments. You can borrow bikes and ride downtown for a bite or to shop. Love the staff! I needed a razor and they had men and women's to offer, plus shaving cream. There are record players in the room and a bunch of movies and games you can borrow. They even have wine you could buy. Every detail thought out. We can't wait to come back and stay longer. 25 trillion stars.

Yelp
This was my 4th trip back to the ORBIT IN and it just gets better and better! I had been having a really rough week. Had the loss of a close friend and really wanted a getaway. When I think of friendly, peaceful, fun, relaxing, stress free environment, I think of the Orbit In! I called, made my reservations and took off. I went first to the Twin Palms room, which was adorable. I arrived Wednesday evening due to the 112 degree weather in Palm Springs that day, so I chose to drive in the evening. I arrived, the keys were on the bed waiting for me. The room was clean, very hip in the ultra mod mid century modern style of the Orbit In. I had a fantastic nights sleep! The beds are amazing. So very comfortable! The next morning I woke up around 6:30 am. I am an early riser these days. I knew there were guests that week from all over the world, needless to say I was super excited to meet them. I have to say, the environment at the Orbit In encourages being able to be relaxed and be friendly to your neighbor. That is one of the things I love most about the Orbit In. I came out of the room to find a guy running up to the coffee machine behind the bar. I had a friend flying in to meet me over the weekend and wanted to document the time he missed, so I asked for a photo of the first person I saw, and he kindly obliged! Then the second, and so on. I was entertaining myself for sure. At 8:30 Am the Orbit In has a breakfast spread of bagels, English muffins, raisin bread, variety of spreads, yogurts, fruit, granola, and juices. There is coffee behind the bar. During breakfast I had an opportunity to meet the other guests, and asked if anyone would be interested in some 80's trivia around the 5 o'clock martini hour, which is a blast and signature at the Orbit In. I am always prepared with games. I don't know why I brought the cards but I did. Everyone seemed enthusiastic, so I would be game master for an evening. I have to tell you it was a fantastic time. The hotel had Smarties in the office they let me use for the game, Players were in the pool, winners won smarties! Then of to the Bossa Nova Room! WOW! It was beautiful. King bed, a full bathroom fifties style with pink tile, a bath tub and double sinks. Upon entering there is a writing desk, fantastic chairs, a record player, DVD player, and a television. Not to mention free Internet. I never wanted to come home. There was a full patio that over looked the hill side. The view was breath taking! I also had the pleasure of meeting the owners Kevin and his wife Jinny. They are wonderful, and so very accommodating. These people are super mellow, full of life, and a blast to be around. They run a wonderful Hotel business. There is nowhere else I will stay in Palm Springs. The Orbit In is it! They have created my perfect getaway! Thank you!

Yelp
UPDATE: Just returned from another visit to Palm Springs & the Orbit In. Had a great time. Stayed in the Cha Cha room this time.. while a lot smaller than some of the other rooms (and without a kitchen), we did have our own large private patio with an outside bar. The manager Al did a great job making us feel welcome. Love the O.I.! I loved my stay at the Orbit In! I randomly discovered it online awhile ago while looking up midcentury modern stuff in Palm Springs. It sounded really cool and swanky. I went in mid-August, which is the "off" season (because of the high temperatures), so we had the lowest rate of the year. It was $159 a night plus tax, so it came to $177 a night. Minimum stay is two nights. Orbit In was built in 1955 and was originally a small studio apartment complex called the Village Manor. When Orbit In opened around 2000, it had been restored to its heyday by the new owners. It's on a quiet residential street with homes and other small boutique hotels. There are 9 rooms so there will never be more than 18 guests at a time. No one under 21 allowed :) Each room is decorated with a different retro modern theme, such as the "leopard lounge" (where we stayed), the "atomic paradise", the "twin palms", and the "rat pack room". All rooms have the original pink-tiled bathrooms, and most rooms have kitchenettes with original stoves and mini fridges. There are also private back patios and one room has a private outside shower! There's a very clean salt water pool to soak in and lots of rafts to float on. Everyday from 5 to 6pm there's "Orbitini hour" where the manager pours complimentary sake cocktails and you can hang out and drink with the other guests. When we were there, there was a sudden desert storm and even though it was pouring rain all over the bar, the manager Al still served us all the Orbitinis we could drink. There's lounge music coming from the speakers near the pool, and it sets a fun, retro vibe. The continental breakfast is pretty big.. bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit, all kinds of drinks. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I loved all the vintage pieces inside. It was so cool :) There was even a martini shaker and glasses on a tray in every room, should you feel the need to shake some drinks. We had such a nice, relaxing time here hanging out by the pool and talking with the other guests about midcentury modern stuff. It's within walking distance of all the nearby restaurants, although if you go in August like us, I would recommend driving or waiting until the sun goes down! I can't wait to go back, but I may have to wait until June because while Orbit In is awesome, I don't think it's worth $279 a night, which is the winter/spring rate. Also, I'm not going to reveal my sources, but there is some amazing thrift store shopping in the area!

Yelp
Worth every penny. If you want a nice relaxing oasis, this is the place. No kids or pets allowed, just adults. Bill & Elaine are the nicest people. We were greeted the moment we arrived by our first names, something I have never experienced before. The amenities exceeded our expectations. The room beautifully decorated and mod retro. Some rooms even have record players. It's located near downtown and walking distance from almost everything.

Yelp
Stunning property that makes you think you just walked into a Dean Martin movie. Free amenities make this place extra special - a free happy hour at the bar nightly. Free sodas, snacks and bottled water. Super plush toilet paper shows that this property doesn't cut corners. If you are looking for a quiet, intimate place to stay that's also very close to the bustle of downtown and popular restaurants, look no further - orbit yourself on in to the Orbit In. You will love the 1960s vibe with all the conveniences of The Jetson's (except the flying car).

Yelp
The Orbit In Hotel is awesome! My boyfriend and I spent a night here while visiting Palm Springs. Staff: - We met the owners Kevin and Jiny who took wonderful care of us! They were so welcoming, friendly and very accommodating! - The housekeepers were super friendly and nice too! Location: - The location of the hotel is perfect! Easy to find and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag, but within walking distance. - Its quiet and has a nice view of the mountains. Rooms: - The rooms perfectly reflected mid-century charm and style! - Clean and comfortable! - Soft sheets, comfortable bed, quality toilet paper, mini fridge, record player and TV. Extras and Amenities: - The Orbit In offers a martini hour! It was a great way to meet the other guests! Jiny makes a rocking Obit-tini! And they weren't shy on the refills! - The office holds numerous old records and movies that you can take back to your room to enjoy. Its a nice touch to add to the whole experience! - The pool is CHILLED so you're not just swimming in luke-warm bath water. Having it chilled was nice since Palm Springs already gets so hot! - Complementary breakfast - Complementary snacks and drinks poolside Overall, the Orbit Hotel In is a cozy, charming and quality hotel. I highly recommend this to anyone and will definitely stay here again in the future!

Yelp
This review is long overdue. Best hotel experience I have had as an adult. My husband and I stayed here the first weekend in December 2020. This was right before all the COVID restrictions so unfortunately any guest who was going to be joining the intimate setting with us had to cancel because they were all from out of town. But the bright side: my husband and I had the place to ourselves, LITERALLY. Bill (the amazing caretaker, not sure on official title) took care of us! He upgraded us to the Rat Pack Suite which is the best suite in the hotel/ largest? We loved it. We were gifted with a welcome bottle of wine in our room. We arrived in the evening so Bill had contacted us over the phone as we were driving to Palm Springs, to check in on us. He facilitated the suite upgrade and made sure we had the code to get in and all the instructions to be there by ourselves for the first night. We were alone for the first night. It was heaven. Quiet. Serene. Beautiful. I was in love the moment I set foot on the property. Also, we came that specific weekend because they usually have the Christmas parade. Covid prevented that unfortunately. The Orbit In had all the Christmas stuff up to get us in the Holiday spirit. The next day, we woke up to the smell of coffee. I forgot to ask Bill if he had set a coffee timer or happened to show up while we were still sleeping. Either way, it was much appreciated. In the early morning I was again struck by how quiet it was. Just peaceful. We also had a prime view of Frey house II up on the hill and the San Jacinto mountains. This was a hotel that I actually wanted to "hang out" at. Normally the hotel is second to my destination. The Orbit In became the destination. I ended up hanging out poolside/ bar side for a good part of the day reading, writing, talking to Bill, and just enjoying the peacefulness. My husband who loves the casino came back early so we could ride the bikes they provide. We cruised the neighborhood and took in the quintessential MCM homes as well as observing Herbert Burns' (the architect of the Orbit In) many similar structures in the area. For our second night we enjoyed some more wine provided by Bill, listening to records on the record player in our room and the nice warm pool and even warmer hot tub. I was sad to go. I have been looking forward to going back ever since (will be going in December of this year) . Bill was amazing. I think he made the weekend that much better. He was so accommodating and was available for anything we needed. Regardless of him working there, I enjoyed his company. What a wonderful experience it was. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
This gets 5 stars--but not really by much. Yes, it's a fantastic location in the Historic Tennis Club neighborhood up against the San Jacinto Mountains and a few blocks from Palm Canyon Drive. The parking is free. The place is well-kept. The area is fantastic. The complex, constructed in 1955, is more authentically mid-century than much of Palm Springs. Much of the town has a definite punk-rock and flamboyantly homosexual approach to revived mid-century modern. This hotel doesn't really "camp it up." It's more like visiting Mamie Eisenhower in the desert rather than swinging with Sinatra and company. It's not like The Shag Store or Tina Turk or Destination PSP or touring one of the renovated houses during Modernism Week, if that's what you're expecting in the Springs. There's nothing particularly creative or atomic-age whimsical about the Orbit In. You DO get the impression they could do a little more. My Twin Palms room did have a nice foam-green and pink-coral color scheme and a sputnik clock--very Fifties. But the furnishings looked dowdy. The art on the wall was two framed LP covers and a small incongruous photo of the Rat Pack in front of the Sands in Las Vegas. The patio area was cinder-block gloomy. The gimmicky vinyl record player they make a big deal about was a cheapie, and they only provided two LPs and those were 1970s throwaways. (Don't give the customer anything good, now.) The TV was a small portable. Everything seemed kind of penny-pinching thrift-store cheap. The outdoor fridge was stocked with sodas and the manager said don't expect bacon and eggs for the complimentary breakfast because he doesn't feel like making it. The manager seemed overly solicitous and I felt like I was being constantly monitored, lest I walk off with a bath towel?? Most aggravating was coming back to my room well before the 11am checkout and being told by the ever-watchful manager they already prepped it for the next guest. How's THAT for the bum's rush?? You do get some of that "Palm Springs feel" at the Orbit In, more than a regular generic place. I saw a retro rockabilly couple leaving at the same time and they looked pretty happy...but it's not exactly the wild crazy mid-century pad you might be looking for. So I'm being generous with those five stars.

Yelp
This is the best kept secret in Palm Springs. We had a total blast here. The rooms are decorated so cute and the place is really clean. We truly enjoyed the cocktail hour and breakfast, where we got to know our neighbors. I highly recommend you check this place out for a quick and quiet getaway.

Yelp
The Orbit In was wonderful, I highly recommend staying here! I came here for a weekend getaway with my husband as it was our first time visiting Palm Springs. The location was great, within walking distance of all of the downtown shops, restaurants and bars. The Mid Century Modern decor was very cool and made for a very authentic Palm Springs experience. The saltwater pool was heated to a perfect temperature and had a great view of the mountains. Our stay included an impressive continental breakfast with lots of fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, organic coffee and more. We really enjoyed their complimentary happy hour "Orbitinis" which were served to us poolside. There was also free soda, snacks and water which we could help ourselves too at any time. We also took advantage of the complimentary beach cruisers to check out the nearby neighborhood. Our room was very comfortable with a nice bed, private patio and it even included a record player with a ton of choices of records housed in the lobby. The manager and staff were awesome, very helpful with recommendations and went above and beyond to guarantee a nice stay. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Palm Springs.

Yelp
We have been looking forward to staying here for over a year. We had reservations last year but had to cancel due to CA being shut down due to Covid. We rebooked for June 2021, but the Hotel cancelled our reservation because our friends had also booked a room. Oh the horrors, heaven forbid we know anyone else staying at their precious place. Be forewarned you are not allowed to socialize with other guests at this property according to the management. If that's hospitality then they can keep it. I would not stay here now if it was the last room available in Palm Springs. And by the way they did not even call to tell us that they cancelled our accommodations. I guess they were just going to pocket our $ and turn us away when we arrived. Outrageous!

Yelp
This place was the perfect base for a very fun and relaxing getaway.... It's right in the heart of the downtown area and close to all sorts of hiking, shops, spas and restaurants. The building and landscaping are fun and does take you back in time. The furniture was different than the norm and very comfortable but not as midcentury as I had hoped. Furniture like that gets very expensive so it makes since to keep it a little more simple. The rooms do have record players and old records from Bossa to Sinatra available which really gave it a special feel and was a big plus in my book. The Orbit has a pool, free bikes available and a nice hot tub area with a fire pit which is great to end a nice Palm Springs day.....

Yelp
Can I just add to the beautiful outpouring of enthusiasm and love on Orbit In's Yelp page? This is my favorite hotel in Palm Springs! From the moment my friend booked our reservation the customer service was attentive in that lovely small business style. They emailed us about when we were arriving and welcomed us to come earlier and sit by the pool while the room was readied. When we did I even fell asleep by the pool after the grueling drive. Management graciously let me take my much-needed nap. Throughout our stay we could really feel the care and attention that the staff put into the place. Jinny the owner was delightful and welcoming. The lovely retro-chic lady who checked us in just looked right out of a vintage Palm Springs tourism ad. I was in awe of her style and sweetness. The amenities were wonderful. A fully stocked fridge of soft drinks by the pool. Coffee in the mornings. An ample continental breakfast. Nutella on raisin bread and strawberries for breakfast? Fuck yes! The big saltwater pool was absolutely lovely. I had fun epiphanies on pool floaties feeling like a queen. Because when in Rome, most of our Palm Springs time was spent tanning poolside. That's how I like to do it. What a beautiful place to do it. In my introvert way I staked out a recliner, put my sunglasses on and headphones in and enjoyed a delightful sojourn. The rooms were super-stylish in that retro Palm Springs way. So many delightful little decorator touches. Record players and a great record collection in the office to check out. I couldn't figure out the TV but who needs TV when you have a laptop, a friend and a pool like that. The bathroom was large, retro and tiled in pink. Decorated with chic vintage magazine ads. A beautiful place to primp before dinner. Every last little touch in our stay at the Orbit In was taken care of and wonderful. When we left Jinny and the other lady said goodbye to us so sweetly. I love this place.

Yelp
If I can give more than five stars I would. From the first phone call I already felt so welcome, all of my questions were answered and booking was easy. Got the tour of the pool area, bar, complimentary soft drinks, movies and books, beach cruisers, even restaurants and bars to check out. I believe his name was Bill, I told him we had an early check out of 7a.m. And he said I would miss complimentary breakfast... So he stocked our fridge with granola, yogurt and bananas. Didn't have to, but he did... defiantly the little things. Thank you. We stayed in Atomic Paradise and the decor was just what I wanted. Check out my mini video. See you again very soon!

Yelp
Just spent a weekend at this historic hotel. We stayed there last year and so this is our second stay. Can't rave enough about this place. Had the Leopard Lounge this time which has the most adorable 50's kitchen. Hotel is very small and intimate and full of amenities like a fridge filled with complimentary sodas, water etc and an outdoor kitchen area with microwave, complimentary tea and coffee. Don't miss Orbitini hour- a free cocktail time around the Boomerang Bar. The guests are always a very eclectic group. This hotel is a treasure. In every way.

Yelp
We are having a group yearly trip and they canceled our reservations with no call. The website stated nothing against groups booking. The guy at the front desk said they lose money on groups booking which makes zero sense....

Yelp
Amazing vibe here. Super clean, comfy, simple and aesthetically pleasing with great midcentury design rooms. Peaceful and quiet. Jinny was the epitome of hospitality. A truly great place at a good price. The beautiful pool and view of the mountains are out of this world! The complimentary breakfast was great too. And a great location.

Yelp
The Orbit is the best. Perfectly modern Palm Springs vintage. The record players in every room... the well stocked vinyl library to choose from... the vintage kitsch everywhere... helpful staff... wonderful rooms... a great pool... and don't forget the included "boomerang bar happy hour! Every night right next to the pool! God my wife and I loved this place!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I just got back from a Covid safe weekend at the Orbit In. These small units were lovingly refurbished to keep their charm from their heyday. Kevin and Genie couldn't have been better hosts. Enjoy an Oribitini at their poolside happy hour, listen to Sinatra on your own turntable and view the glowing mountains at nighttime. We will back.
