Orbitur Viana do Castelo

Beachside motorhome camping area. Incredible location for regular high wind sailing. Seems like everybody was there for windsurfing, wingfoiling or kiting. For windsurfer, 5.0M sail in the mornings and 4.5M in the afternoons. Outstanding!

The ORBITUR Viana do Castelo is located directly at Praia do Cabedelo, next to the city of Viana do Castelo in northern Portugal. ORBITUR Viana do Castelo is one of the few campsites in Portugal situated right next to a watersport spot, making it particularly attractive for watersport enthusiasts. Compared to other campsites in Portugal, this one is definitely on the pricier side. If you decide to stay here, be aware that you are primarily paying for the location. The campsite and its infrastructure are outdated and should have been renovated ten years ago. What makes this campsite special is the community that visits year after year. It's a place where friendships are formed. Kids quickly connect with other kids, and you'll find yourself surrounded by like-minded people. If you ask me whether I recommend the campsite itself, I would say no. However, if you ask whether I recommend staying there, my answer is 100% yes! The unique combination of proximity to the watersport spot, the vibrant community, and the charming city of Viana do Castelo makes it a special place.

What a massive disappointment! This is the most expensive campsite weve been to so far by a long long way (46€per night) on our long road trip and while location is beautiful the campsite is run down and poorly attended. It is extra awful at the moment because it is close to end of season for them and so they've obviously decided to run it with minimum staff and loos and showers old dirty and restaurant and shop, which were so shining on the website, are closed! So we feel we were misled on booking as the facilities are just not here for us! Beach amazing but we may as well have parked on road by the site......

As a pilgrim you get a special rate, but you can’t reserve in that case. You have to show up there in person to get the pilgrim price for the first night. The bungalow is comfortable. I would recommend to get bed sheets from the reception for a few euros, because the bed is not covered.

Guy on reception was very good but it took ages to book in. Facilities were poor, the swimming pool was dreadful and full of dirty water. After giving al our details they wanted a credit card to hold as security, we refused in the end we decided to leave. I stress the guy on reception was great.

Nice campsite with a cool atmosphere. Almost everyone is surfing. Very close to the spot, but the campsite is even with strong winds enjoyable, due to the dune and pinetrees. Perfect spot for a family

I went to this campsite in my childhood and I have very good memories of it. It's good for wind and kite surfers and it has direct access to the beach. But now they have a gate and it closes at 8pm! So if you want to stay until late you have to go all the way round. I was expecting some kind of renovations and works but to be honest the services haven't change not even a bit. They have been the same for 20/30 years. And the price is considerably more expensive now. The supermarket is minimal with over charged prices. The cafe/restaurant is the same for 20/30 years, and higher prices. Toilets, showers, miserable. Swimming pool - same since I remember with very old and not functioning chairs. The bungalows cost the same as in a hotel and the services are again, very disappointing. Maintenance is non existent and there's no microwave, no hairdryer, no shampoo/shower gel. Only a very old plate that takes ages to cook and a fridge that when you manage to open the door without breaking your hand, it freezes everything that's in inside. I'm very disappointed with this campsite and I think I won't be coming here again. No investment, no quality. It's a disappointment for a Portuguese to show this to my foreign friends. .
