The Hostel is basic but cosy. The host was super helpful, friendly and polite. Mutual areas (kitchen, dining, lounge) are well equipped - kitchen with versatile food (we made pancakes+Nutella one morning for breakfast); there are 3 massive oak tables in the dining and there were many board games and books in the lounge. Also, the lounge is equipped with a massive TV although we had a TV in our room. The room was clean and warm and the adjacent bathroom had an electric shower with hot water available at all times. There's a mini fridge and a kettle in the room, too. The room was a decent size. We were able to park in front of the hostel at all times. I would definitely recommend it, amazing value for money. I'd come back here for sure.

Average : although the room is well equipped and clean, the checkin process is smooth and the prices are reasonable, I wouldn't recommend staying there more than one night. Mattress was very thin and worn out, pillows very hard (if you have neck issues, go to a nicer hotel...), checkout is 10 am without possibilities of leaving your luggage if needed (no luggage storing facilities in Kirkwall to compensate...), bathroom very hot (not able to regulate the temperature), toilet flush very slow, etc ....|Best to pay a little bit more and be comfortable !!

Good budget hotel, double rooms with kettle and complimentary tea/hot chocolate. Private bathroom. Internet works well. Kitchen available. It is possible to check in late (they will send an entrance code). After checkout, you can leave your luggage in a place below stairs and lock valuables in lockers.

Comrie Pipe Band took over the whole hostel 1st - 6th July 2024. It was a brilliant base for our tour of the Orkney Isles. The rooms were just what we needed, comfy, spacious enough for all our kit and very clean! The lounge was big enough for all 20 of us to eat and chill out in the evenings. ||We had two mini buses and a car, the car park was plenty big enough for them all. Plus the great location meant we could walk into town for dinners or shopping.||The booking process was easy and each door had it's own code to get in, so no loosing keys (perfect), even the front door was a code so whoever got back first could get in - no waiting for a key holder.||Everyone agreed they'd stay again either as a group or an individual.||Thank you so much for a lovely stay!

Lovely place to stay! I booked the double room with bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee provided, plus a small fridge. Great kitchen and sitting room. Clean and well managed. Very close to buses, Cathedral and shops. I will book again as missed out on visits due to weather.

Excellent hostel, we were lucky that there was only a few of us at the hostel, all friendly as was the manager when requesting advice. Good location to supermarkets and close to town. Quiet location and easy to find. Had plenty of room available to our needs

Really handy when arriving off a late boat. 24 hour check in is excellent. Our room was lovely and comfortable, with tea/coffee facilities. Fantastic, well equipped kitchen too. Plenty of information around as well.

We stayed in a private room, which was clean, comfortable, and convenient. It isn't in the downtown, but is walkable and convenient to tourist sites, grocery stores, etc. All linens and towels were provided and comfortable. Late check in was easily accommodated, and parking was easy. We were in and out pretty quick, but used the kitchen (clean, well-stocked) and saw a large sitting room that was clean and had lots of furniture/seating options. Everyone was quite and respectful when we were there.

Yelp
I stayed here for 3 days while visiting Kirkwall and the rest of Mainlamd Orkney. It's about half a mile from the main hub (tourist center), an easy walk if you're taking the bus from the airport. The manager was very pleasant (it is a family-run business) and was watching for me to let me in. I had booked a private room, which was on the first floor. It was a good size, with a fridge, small TV, closet, bathroom/shower, coffee maker with instant coffees, hairdryer and 2 towels. By far the best equipped hostel I had been to. It was clean, but the smell of whatever disinfectant they had used was so intense I had to open the window for a while. The blanket and pillow cases look like they have seen better days but all and all respectable. The kitchen and common area were really lovely--clean, with everything you might need, including games, books, large sofas, all cooking supplies, and recycling bins. I had no problems checking in or out and the hostel manager was very friendly, taking the time to answer my questions about transportation around the island, which can be tricky. I am 30-something, there was a 20-something and a few 40-somethings there, so it's a hostel for a wide range of ages! Recommended.
