Yelp
Place is and always has been a beautiful destination in a magical place. My wife surprised me for a birthday getaway. We both were excited about having a delicious dinner in the rustic beautifully crafted dining room.
While making the reservation for our stay, your asked to chose dinner options from the set menu. Wife ordered seared tuna over forbidden rice with green beans for herself, ordered my bone-in pork chop with a sausage apple cranberry Demi sauce over basmati rice and vegetables.
Dessert- coconut and passion fruit parfait and apple tart
Service- good, attentive, kind, thoughtful
First thing we were brought after ordering drinks was bread.....mediocre at best, but dry and odd texture but ok
Dinner salad- choice was garden salad with ranch dressing or garden roasted corn salad with chipotle vinaigrette
Both had garden salad which was chilled and decent
Entrees- pork chop unseasoned, cooked through (was a nice cut tho), Demi sauce lacked seasoning although had a little bit of flavor, served with 4 small pieces of zucchini that was cold
Seared tuna was cooked nice, seasoned beyond belief, forbidden rice cooked perfect (which sounds like no big deal however it's not that easy as it's a nuttier grain) however they seasoned the hell out of it, green beans (assuming from the grounds garden) were fresh but hard
Desserts- I'm someone who believes apple should be peeled before put into a tart these were not so the skin is like chewing on scotch tape, the tart crust had nice flavor but needed a sledge hammer
Coconut passion fruit parfait was just plain baffling, looked nice and delicious however it was not good, the center strip of passion fruit was like a rubber tire, the coconut cream part had little to no flavor and consistency of a firm rice pudding
Orchard Canyon's website pushes the excitement of the dining experience, it's time to re-evaluate
Ambiance was nice
Service as I said was very good
