Orchid Cocktails

I used to love this place, as they used to make a fantastic Old Fashioned. However, I went there in Sept 2023 and there was a disappointing drop in quality. Diluted Old Fashioned cocktails and it was too sweet, with poor presentation. The ice used was improper and the cup was not frozen like it used to be. I attached a photo of how it used to look. (Dec 2022) My partner also ordered a drink from their fancy menu, which came in a ‘deconstructed’ cocktail with very sub-par quality. Also needed to ‘break the code’ and look for answers to open the treasure box in the dark in order to have the cocktail - something we weren’t expecting at all, and it was not an easy answer. Pretty annoying really if we’re just there for a nice cocktail. I am now hesitant to return to this place again. Sad that the best cocktail place in Aberdeen now has declined in quality.

Great place. Nice atmosphere and tasty cocktails. As well gin tasting session was amazing. Guy who was leading it provided a lot of interesting and detail information on gin itself and its history.

What an amazing place, no wonder it’s award winning. We loved the first class service and fabulous cocktails. Definitely worth a visit or two! Best cocktail bar in Aberdeen 🩷

Fantastic place with a really good atmosphere. Especially when there’s live music on. The staff are super-friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Multiple times I’ve been and had different staff show me different drinks or twists on classics. Overall, exceptional venue.

The Bloody Marys are great 👍 I’ll give credit where credit is due. Best not to work here, though. The manager and main bartender will humiliate you in front of customers/co-workers for the slightest mistake. I worked here for two weeks and was insulted and made to feel small whilst learning the ropes, until I finally put in my notice. I would get so nervous going into work that I would shake and decided it was better to quit and keep looking for a job than continue. Apparently, a young lady who worked there before me had a similar issue and quit after a month. I saw one of the bartenders even mocking a complete stranger walking by the window because she was a tad bit overweight and they regularly had discussions about customers as well. As I say, the cocktails are delicious but I would not work at the Aberdeen branch of Orchid Cocktails. There is no kindness or compassion.

Orchid was the best venue for my partners surprise 30th! Orchid is our favourite bar and I couldn’t think of anywhere better to celebrate. Not only were they happy to provide us the area, they organised a wonderful singer who kept everyone entertained all night. I wanted the venue to feel personal so I provided large items of decor , the staff were happy for us to enter early and decorate which made the whole thing so fantastic. My partner was surprised to the heavens by the party and by the effort of the venue to make the occasion so special. All the staff were absolutely amazing and so attentive even though there was a big crowd. Thanks so much for the efforts it is so appreciated ❤️

Wouldn’t come back. First time coming and a waitress with an attitude greeted us. It was a bit loud and my friend misunderstood what she was saying so she gave us an attitude all the way to our table. She refuse to serve our friend drinks because he looked at bit drunk (even though he wasn’t and just misunderstood what she said ) which was fair enough but her continuous eye rolls is so displeasing that it made us walk out.
