"Ordrupgaard, a beautiful, neo-classical country mansion-turned-museum which got an exciting new extension courtesy of international design studio, Snøhetta."

"Although Ordrupgaard is temporarily closed until late 2019, when a new underground extension for its French collection by the Norwegian architects Snøhetta will be complete, its immersive Art Park remains open to the public. With contemporary installations that change annually and outdoor works like Doug and Mike Starn’s “Geometry of Innocence" bamboo maze and Terunobu Fujimori’s “Tea Tree House,” the grounds alone are a worthy field trip to this suburb north of Copenhagen." - Alia Akkam

Interesting permanent collection with temporary exhibits (50/50). Perfect for a shorter visit before or after lunch. Book lunch in advance as can be quite popular.

We had a great trip to this museum and hidden in the collection is a few Monet paintings and a Matisse. The current collection of Skagen is beautiful. We didn’t have time to go around on the grounds and next time we will do that.

Lovely return visit, always a must do when in Copenhagen. This time there was a Michael and Anna Ancher exhibition which despite the slightly chaotic layout (more an issue with the Hadid extension than anything else) was informative and very thorough in the coverage of their lives in Skagen. The new extension below ground that houses the French collection is a great addition giving space for much more to be shown in relatively conventional museum/gallery spaces, it was very calming. The old house has had a bit of a makeover and feels fresher/simpler and the Hammershøi and Ring room is probably worth the entrance fee alone. Only negative is the overpriced cafe. We used to enjoy the cafe space but now not so much, the quality isn’t as good as it was but the prices have continued to rise. Shame really.

there are 4 areas to this park: mansion, hadid building, outdoor exhibit and juul house... the mansion has old paintings and furniture... the hadid bldg houses special exhibits and the cafeteria (to the left of the ticket counter and down the ramp)... the outdoor exhibit has large art pieces... the bamboo sculpture is a must do... climb to top to get a view of the "park"... i covered the juul house in a separate review... with lunch at the cafeteria you can easily spend 3 hrs here

The collection is nice especially the French impressionist collection. I would have loved to give the place full stars but I had to remove a star for each of the following: - the place is overpriced. At 130dkk / 18€ it’s more expensive than the State Art Museum which has 3 extensive floors of paintings. The low number of visitors in this remote Ordrupgaard location only confirms that the price tag was not set correctly. - the audio guide was in danish only, but why??! They advertise it at the entrance that they have wifi to download the app and then the museum app is nice, has a map and descriptions and then… you discover that the audio is in danish only. Quite a deception. For the entrance price I paid (above) I consider at least the English audio guide must be included in the price.

Really nice small museum with a great Cafe. Yum! The female expressionist exhibition was also good. I missed the house, I need to go back. In the winter.

I visited the café and art garden. Great work making the artwork a playground for children and adults alike :-) Free to enter. The cafe served good tea and cakes. Recommended for a few hours with children

Yelp
An amazing building from Zaha Hadid, one of my all time favourite architects! The museum is small and has two exhibition areas in two floors. The exhibitions change all the time so check the information before you go. The rooms guide you through the museum easily. The cafe is amazing as it has glass walls on both sides and makes you feel like being outdoors in the nature. The yard of the museum is large and has some interesting art installations. Good for a Sunday trip/walk. Ideally go there when the weather is nice so you can enjoy the yard. By public transport you need to take the train to klampenborg and then a bus which leaves you just around the corner. Quite easy to find. There is also a closer train station which when reaching with bike takes about 10 minutes to bike to the museum.

Yelp
We visited in a great day entrance was for free! They had live jazz due to the winter jazz festival so a really great timing. The collection is small but i have to say they have awesome paintings worth seeing from Monet, Pisarro, Cezanne and Gaugin. We also visited Fin Juuls house and the story behind it is very interesting. I love the location in the middle of the forest. I love the park around and the fact that it has 3 different buildings and that it changes so much between each. The new building exposition was being set up we couldn't get in however the very popular Hammershoj is up from Friday 4.03.2016 and apparently they are having a Monet exhibition this summer I won't miss it he is my favorite impressionist. The Jazz was awesome we really enjoyed it. The staff was great we got all the stories and had a good time with them. They have a lovely shop, a good cafeteria and the best part free parking!

Yelp
This museum has some pretty impressive paintings and can be combined with a rail trip to the Louisiana (it's a 2km walk from the rail station on a suburban street). The time involved in getting there from Central Copenhagen, the small size and the expense (110 kroner I think) means it's probably not worth it unless you are really into Impressionism and works from the same era.
