Amazing service and amazing food. The cocktails were a real surprise- really inventive and unique with a lot of effort in homemade ingredients like a special dirty martini brine and a cilantro tequila infusion. The steak was amazing, and did not disappoint. Brussel sprouts and potatoes were phenomenal. Our waitress was kind, fun, and made the evening feel special.

What an amazing dinner and incredible service!! Stopped in to the Ore House for a drink and light dinner at the bar. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. I highly recommended the Tartare, it was amazing. The entire staff is so attentive, personable, and kind! Everyone makes you feel right at home and makes the dining experience totally enjoyable. Thanks to the entire front and back of house for a beautiful meal!

Google
Amazing service and even better food. Yes, this place is pricy—but it’s a perfect example of “you get what you pay for.” From the half glass of wine for me and mocktail for my 7 year old upon seating to the food and drink recommendations, the service was impeccable and made us feel like we were the most important diners in the restaurant. The food was perfectly timed; none of that “here’s your salad” and three minutes later, your meal. Plan to spend both money and time here—this isn’t a $20 get-in-get-out place—but you’ll enjoy every minute of it.

This was an outstanding dinner experience. From the beginning each item we ordered was well presented and exceeded our expectations. The cocktails we're exciting and unique, appetizers were intriguing and our steaks we're superb. And last but not least our service provided by Jaimie was spectacular. I am in the food business and this experience is one of the best I have had. Very well done indeed!

First time going. I strongly suggest making a reservation. We did because we read reviews and very happy I did. Even on a week night I heard people wanting seats to a full restaurant. So was worried about it being dark and dreary but it isnt. It has a nice feel and a touch of class. Our waiter was perfect. Shaun (not sure of spelling) did not rush us, did not consistently check on us and I saw him just take a look every now and then to make sure our glasses were full, and needs met. He was attentive, helpful but in no way caused us to feel like we needed to hurry up and leave. The food was very good. I have had a better steak, but I had no complaints about this one. It was just nice to have a dinner at an establishment that seems to want you there and happy to take care of you based on your speed and need.

This is a MUST-TRY steakhouse when your in Durango. It’s not only delicious, it’s an experience! Every item that touched our table was divine. The drinks, appetizers and entrees were beautifully served. The ambiance was everything perfect and intimate. The staff and server treat you like royalty and our dining standards just went up several notches after Ore House.

Google
Reasonably priced fine dining with a theme. The steaks were all delicious, and the service top notch. The liquor selection was quite good, from wines to top shelf spirits, and the bartender was very skilled. All in all, a great experience, but plan ahead foe parking - it's at a premium, especially in busy nights. (Street parking is free after 6:00 PM.)

Google
Recommend making reservations. You are asked to deposit $25 per person to hold your reservation which will be refunded when you actually show up. I thought it went towards the price of the meal. There is also seating at a bar which I believe is for no reservation seating. This restaurant has been in Durango, just off Main Street, since 1972. My parents used yo eat here. We came to celebrate my birthday and my mom who passed away last year. We were promptly seated. Super attentive staff, Dow to earth, friendly. The menu isn’t huge, which I like. Specialty is steak and surf. Was hoping for a chicken choice. There was a secret menu and a pork tenderloin was included in the secret menu. Housemade cornbread. It had a good flavor, served with a bacon butter, but didn’t hold its shape well so we ate it with a fork and generally made a crumbly mess. We ordered a 14 oz ribeye, which we split. They also split it in the kitchen cooking it to 2 different temps. Perfection. I would have preferred a different knife that was actually sharp. The lobster tails came with clarified butter and these were sweet and tender. We also ordered the wedge salad. It had a crispy thin fried onion, tomatoes, fried chunks of pie Kelly, and a sprinkle of Blue Cheese crumble from a local James Ranch in Durango. The wedge had a slight char. My husband’s had part of the core but we are a game of finding the core in our salads. There was also a sprinkle of champagne vinegarette along the perimeter of the plate that was divine. I would have preferred the Blue Cheese crumble and this dressing instead of the Blue Cheese dressing. The crumble was nice but the dressing overpowered the salad. We ordered the asparagus and potato to share. The asparagus with a bernaise sauce-asparagus were cooked perfectly. The sauce was ok. I would order it on the side. The potato was delicious, soft and tender, and the perfect balance of sour cream and butter. I think they probably brine the potato. It really was the perfect side for the steak. I am not a big fan of their pork belly chunks in the salad or potato. For me, they are too large and tough. I couldn’t pierce them with my fork. It’s a personal preference. Staff quick to clear dishes as the meal progresses. Super clean bathrooms. We were close to the kitchen but it was not a distraction as their communication was low key. Didn’t order dessert or alcohol. We loved their water and pellet ice, so good in Durango. It was a very good meal for a special occasion. We spent $160 plus tip which is something we NEVER do. Probably once in a lifetime meal. Highly recommend Ore House. You will love the experience, the attentive wait staff, and delicious food.

Yelp
Hands down, it's the best restaurant/cocktails in Durango! From the service with Kara, the cocktails, and the food, we loved everything. If I lived here, this would be a regular spot. Reserve in advance to make sure you get to experience this restaurant.

Sam A.

Yelp
Service was very top notch! Food was good just not very filling. Fresh bread would go a ling ways to improve meal. Two of us shared a 14 oz Ribeye, garlic potatoes, green salid and a no refill Coke - $102 with tax! Corn bread only. Full bar. Street parking only. Very small bathrooms. I feel over rated.

Yelp
Ore House is hands down the best steakhouse experience we've ever had. We showed up as soon as they opened since they were booked out. We were immediately greeted and sat. Literally every person, from the hostess, to bartenders, wait staff and manager acknowledged us and made sure our entire experience was flawless. The cocktails were uniquely served and delicious! Incredibly reasonable as well. The house corn bread, steaks, sauces (we tried 5 of them and all were amazing), mushrooms and mac and cheese with pork belly were spot on. We ended our meal with their crème brûlée which was the cherry on top of the entire evening. We will be back when we're in town again!

Richard R.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the Ore House has been closed since Jan. 2024 due to fire damage. No idea of when or if it will reopen.

Larry C.

Yelp
Absolutely a iconic restaurant with fabulous bar managers and food They bring out a corn bread treat as you sit to order GREAT STUFF We ordered steak and lobster and onion soup All meals we perfectly cooked and served by friendly people I can't wait to get back with my new bar buddy's

Yelp
First time here while visiting Durango, Colorado very nice restaurants very good steaks. Customer service is top-notch a little pricey, but well worth it will come back.

Karla G.

Yelp
Ryan, the owner of the Ore House greeted us outside and the entire staff really made us feel special for our 49th Anniversary celebration. Ian, was our terrific waiter and flawless server. Each course and the pacing of the evening was perfection. We loved all our selections and the flavor combinations and cooking techniques were top notch in this unique gem of a steakhouse. Thank you Ryan for keeping up the ambiance of this unique establishment we have loved since 1972. Looking forward to our next celebration we felt pampered

Jacob C.

Yelp
I came here with my fiancée to celebrate our recent engagement. We were here on vacation and wanted a nice place to celebrate. To say we were satisfied is a true understatement! The food, the flavors, the service, and the atmosphere were absolutely incredible. From our hostess telling us congrats multiple times, to the champagne as a celebration from the house, and to our server Dan, thank you! Truly a memorable experience and we will definitely be back on our next visit to Durango!

Felicia L.

Yelp
What a wonderful atmosphere this place has! The food is catchy and fun! And of course delicious! The cocktails are innovative and made very well! Service was spot on with assistance and being helpful!

Yelp
Visiting my son and daughter-in-law, they took us out for our 40th wedding anniversary. Knowing that we love a good steakhouse, they picked the Ore House. And they chose well!!! Update: Didnt realize that I never finished my review. We just went back to Ore House this past weekend. Like the first time, this little gold nugget of a restaurant located in Durango does not disappoint!!! We had the same server as the first visit. I'm sorry I can't remember her name. But she was delightful!!! Our meal started with the delicious corn bread. Next course was Ceasar salad. We shared a Tomahawk Steak and Twin lobster tails as our main and sides were Brussels sprouts, asparagus, corn... For dessert we had the S'mores, Apple Crisp and 4 spoons... SOOOO DELICIOUS!!! Looking forward to getting back here when we visit again!!!

Dave L.

Yelp
An upscale delicious dinner with great service and gorgeous atmosphere. That what you'll find at the Ore House, not to be confused with, well, another place. Be prepared to pay, but if you're looking for an overall food experience, this is among the very worthy options. Enjoy.

Sherrie C.

Yelp
Great service, we didn't have reservations but they put us on a waitlist and texted us when they had a table - the food was phenomenal tasting and the drinks were on point!!!!

Yelp
Date of visit was 09/03/22. Man oh Manachevitz, was this a great call? Hell YEAH! From hostess Bekah to server Siarraha to the chef. Everything was excellent. Just what one expects of a fine dining restaurant. Ambiance is very relaxing and decor is pure southwestern. We started with complimentary Vespers martinis. We're not big on gin but damn these were so good we paid for two more. Entrees were a corn salad for the wife and the surf and turf for me. We loved everything. Perfect salad with goat cheese. Perfect filets, lobster, crab, mashed potatoes with demi glace and mixed sauteed mushrooms. Sauces were ranch and blue cheese. My wife enjoyed the mashed potatoes so much she said the next time we dine here that's one item she will have. Next came the complimentary dessert wine, a cabernet, not sure of the name, but it was also good so we bought two more. Great accompaniment to the creme brulee. All in all, the perfect meal to end the perfect last night in Durango. Highly recommend and will return.

Yelp
A+++ What a fantastic meal! This place is pricey but well worth it. We started with the west coast oysters and wedge salad. Oysters were fresh and briney and the salad was an incredibly elevated steak house wedge ( pork belly crumbles, fried onions, etc). For the main we shared a perfectly cooked medium rare 10 oz filet, skillet corn bread, grilled asparagus w/hollandaise and roasted parsnips with a spicy harissa sauce. This was such a delicious dinner with lots of leftovers. The service was impeccable. They take reservations. I highly recommend!

Yelp
What a great restaurant! I don't like to to make hyperbolic pronouncements after just one visit, but Ore House is in the top 5 of my places I'd like to visit again before I die. Decor was warm and inviting, tables weren't too close together, service was outstanding, knowledgable and friendly; professional without being stuffy or overly chummy. The tips get shared with the whole team and that's usually accompanies a degradation in service, but not in this case. The servers were knowledgable (it's scary how often the staff at fine steakhouses has never heard of a spinalis dorsi) and timely. "Dalton" was a standout. The food looked and tasted great. While many steakhouses try to make it sound like they're serving USDA Prime, Ore House actually does. Cocktails were craft-level excellent with a few ingredients that were new to me. Bar staff (Mark and Ian) was solid, efficient and entertaining on a busy night. Slight negative is they asked if we wanted our steak sliced in the kitchen. When you order med-rare, the temperature falls quickly and taking extra time to slice the meat means your food is less hot. So I requested they not slice it but they sliced it anyway. I know, I know, first world issues. But they need to stop ever cutting steaks in the kitchen since they have guests with steak knives more than capable of doing the job at the table and maintaining the temperature. Durango is pretty out of the way town, and flying in was painful with the extended airline layovers in early 2023. But the Ore House might be enough to tempt me to return.

Kelley R.

Yelp
Dinner at Ore House was one of the coolest restaurant experiences I've had. They are INCREDIBLY accommodating and they care about making sure you have the best possible experience. They made sure to provide lots of options for me as a vegetarian, including a chef-curated vegetarian plate, which was a new experience for me. Our server was very attentive and sweet as well. I ultimately opted for a selection of sides (I'm a sides girlie) and my fiancé ordered several sides as well along with the New York Strip. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the food, cocktails, and the overall vibe. I highly recommend making time for dinner here while in Durango!

Phil H.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was prompt and atmosphere is great. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Trina W.

Yelp
It's really hard, almost impossible to get a rezzie here. I'm not sure who you have to know to get in. They don't take in person requests, nothing on the phone and an online reservation will cost you $25 per person for a 7:30pm reservation. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but if I am treating myself and others to a pricey dinner, I don't think k it's worth so much effort and more than 3 days of trying to get in on a weekday. There are other great places in Durango that make dining out way easier.

Steve B.

Yelp
Service is amazing. Very efficient and professional. Great atmosphere. Steaks cooked to perfection.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Traveled through Durango on vacation and my wife had picked this restaurant based on reviews before hand. We didn't make prior reservations, and the wait time for a table was over an hour, which impatient me was not happy about. But wow was the wait worth it! First off the staff, including the host who took our reservations, were all incredibly nice people. The service was excellent. And the food was outstanding! It was fairly pricey compared to what I was expecting, but oh man was it worth every penny! Their dry aged beef is fantastic, but the crown jewel was the scallop bisque. Probably the best dish of food I've ever had in my entire life! This place is a must if you are in town - just do yourself a favor and make reservations ahead! You'll thank yourself later :)

Sherry W.

Yelp
This place used to be the place to go. I could just walk in and sit at the bar when I was in town for business. Now, you have to have a reservation even to just sit at their bar and they charge $25 for a reservation, if you can even get one. It is unfortunate for locals who may have been coming here for years, including an elderly man I met from Farmington, many times when I sat at the bar for dinner, who can no longer come. They have made it so exclusive (and the food or service has not changed one bit from what it used to be before you needed to pay for a $25 reservation) that I feel they have far exceeded their value and I am happy to explore many other better restaurants in Durango.

Kerry T.

Yelp
I would love to give this place five stars, but they took away the birthday special and so I took away a star. I just don't think I'll ever get over it. I've spent way too much money at this place, and I enjoy it every time, but it was always someone's birthday when we went. And they used to be my own birthday request too, as your age on your birthday was a percentage discount. Not to the whole party, but still an awesome deal, and it really made birthdays special. I looked forward to getting older, but alas I'll just have to find something else to live for. The service is great, the food is great, the booze is great. The prices are ridiculous, but the cushion of a birthday discount offset that just enough.

Amy H.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the wedge salad and french onion soup both were incredible! My husband ordered the delmonico ribeye, mushrooms and brussel sprouts also delicious. This place is a must visit when in town. Our wait staff also did a fantastic job!

Ethan B.

Yelp
Excellent wait staff and service. David was our waiter and was great. Recommended the tar tar which was very good. Split the filet / lobster / crab plate which was a good choice as portions are large. Overall a lovely meal.

Lacey D.

Yelp
I can't find any flaw with my meal at Ore House. The food is incredible, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of an old-time steakhouse. My husband and I shared: wedge salad, French onion soup, ribeye, lobster tail, creamed corn, mac and cheese, and mushrooms. The mushrooms were surprisingly good- fresh, buttery, cooked perfectly. I was celebrating my birthday, and they gave me Ore house glasses as a gift. Overall, this was an excellent meal and I would go back next time I am in the area!

Seth L.

Yelp
Had a great meal here with my son who is starting college at Fort Lewis. I've never written a review before but the experience we had at Ore house motivated me. Our dinner was amazing. The food was great and surpassed expectation but the service from Cara our server was incredible. We will make a regular point of eating here when in town.

James O.

Yelp
Ore house is amazing. Some of the best food in Durango and Colorado! Service is exceptional, reservation is going to be your best bet because their dining room is just the perfect size. Cocktails are well balanced and delicious. Steak was nicely cooked and seasoned. Sides like the baked potato, Mac and cheese, mushrooms simple but full of flavor. Ambiance just screams old western and just fits. If you are in town it's a must stop and be sure to be hungry.

Miguel M.

Yelp
This place is a unique experience, only compared to a two Michelin star restaurant... drinks are awesome but food... is súper quality, fine and reiterate, Michelin quality. From the welcome at door, the service at the table by Sia our waitress, the bar tending by Marc, the wine selecting With Ian, the offer of dishes by Reagan the night chief and then the tasting of the food and wine was dazzling. Who ever reads this review has to know that Ore is to enjoy the best food in Durango Colorado.

Nic G.

Yelp
Came here in the evening after the Cascade Canyon Train ride. So glad we chose this restaurant to celebrate over a meal (after getting engaged earlier in the day )! The whole meal was scrumptious and I can't stop thinking about how delicious it all was! The waitstaff and bartenders were all phenomenal as well. Definitely come here if you are wanting to celebrate with a special dinner!

Don P.

Yelp
Let me first say that the post-pandemic service and attitude of the staff is excellent. This was not always the case pre-pandemic as I've eaten here several times since 2014. The food quality and portions are good but not great as they should be for the prices charged. An irritating policy is that every item is a la carte and they up charge for everything. I wanted anchovies on my Caesar salad; $6 more please. I ordered a Manhattan cocktail; they charged me for the whiskey, then a charge for the Manhattan and then another charge for the vermouth. If you decide to eat here plan on at least $100 per person including tax and tip.

Yelp
A priceless experience! Where to begin?! From the moment you walk in: attentive staff, beautiful atmosphere, museum quality southwest artwork, smells permeating every crevice. A premiere spot and hidden gem in Durango and a MUST for any visitor to the area or local alike. We have dined at the Ore House many times (pre-pandemic) and I was anxious and excited to see what changes they had brought to the menu after the re-open... I don't even know where to begin. The guests we were hosting compared their dining experience only to that of a Michelin restaurant in Marseille! Our experience: Sia, our professional server, welcomed us promptly and warmly. A 'hello' from the more-than-entertaining Mark the bartender brought crisp martinis and Rose by the glass. We opened our meal with FRESH grilled octopus and LOCAL oyster mushrooms complimented by beautiful sauces and presentation. 2nd course brought fresh cornbread, an EXQUISITE radish salad with avocado crema and passionfruit butter paired with (of course) the house made french onion soup. A quick interlude of local whiskey aged in a sherry cask (hello, WOW). Dinner: a beautiful platter of crab, lobster, a NY, ribeye, and filet coupled with a couple excellent side dishes were more than enough for all of us to share. Ian, the floor manager and knowledgeable wine connoisseur, brought a few bottles of wine to choose from, explaining each in great detail and how they might pair well with our dinner. We found the perfect taste and price point to top off our already magnificent meal. Don't even get me started on the toasted s'mores and strawberry shortcake to round out our experience. In this day and age, after spending a year and a half in doors, this was such a TREAT. Each staff member came by the table at least once to explain, check in, or aid in the delivery of the meal. We were so impressed by the entire experience, I couldn't wait to get home and write a lengthy review. If you've read this far, what are you waiting for?! Book your table and indulge. Life is a culinary experience and Reagan, Ryan, Ian, Mark and the whole Ore House staff work flawlessly to deliver a world class experience! You guys have really taken it to the next level in EVERY well thought out detail, thank you SO much!

Jake G.

Yelp
A fun little steakhouse to visit! The food was very good and they make a great old fashioned. The only drawback was the waiter was a little pushy with trying to order every "extra" on the menu, ask once and move on. The place sells itself, they don't need to come across as pushy.

Jessica M.

Yelp
We've been coming to the Ore House for quite some time and we've never left disappointed. The food is exceptional and the service is stellar. The bartender Mark is such an entertainer and makes this experience even better. We can't wait to return! The surf and turf is my favorite and the oyster mushroom appetizer is out of this world!

Jon D.

Yelp
Just got done with amazing experience at the Ore House. I had the ceasar salad, which was among the best I have ever had. After that, I ordered the 35-day dry agen New York steak, and it was fabulous. I will be back here the next time I am in town.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Fantastic place! Wedge salad , great cocktails and surf N aTurf! Delicious! Don't forget dessert

Alex H.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The perfect place in Durango for a nice dinner, date night, or special meal. The corn bread is a pleasant surprise!

Sylvia P.

Yelp
Celebrated a birthday dinner, quaint atmosphere, great service lots of team work. Great food, perfectly cooked steaks a must try. Do plan ahead as they are busy helps to put your name on wait if there's no openings. Enjoy!

B K.

Yelp
The food is good but it is SO overpriced for what they offer. It's definitely the best food in Durango but that's not a very high bar. Other high end steak houses across the country that share these prices are better. They used to do a local offer which got people in the door. They stopped, so we stopped going.

Karl A.

Yelp
We celebrated 0ur 40th wedding anniversary last night at the Ore House. To begin with, we made a reservation ( Strongly Recommend ) and asked to have a quiet area in the restaurant , because I wear hearing aids. They made sure we had a nice corner table towards the back of the restaurant . This place is A-plus!! The service and food are outstanding . Be prepared to pay. You are getting what you pay for--- amazing food and SERVICE! Our waiter Adam was amazing. He made recommendations all the way to the different Bourbons they had to offer. This was not our first visit to the the Ore House, but the first since Covid. You will not be disappointed !

Yumi J.

Yelp
My favorite place for a medium rare cut of meat. Their peppercorn sauce is the best of them all.

Maria C.

Yelp
Easily one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Delicious food from app to dessert. Impeccable service. Wonderful ambience. Highly recommend!!!

Donna Blue H.

Yelp
One of the best meals we've had in a long time. The secret menu had so many great and tasty treasures - especially the cauliflower-lemon soup. Wow. Meal was served with impeccable timing and everything was cooked and plated perfectly. The experience was lots of fun too. Haley (who got us in at the last minute) and Becca were lovely hosts and Victoria was on-point with service. Masks - not one in sight. I had to take one star because ZERO STAFF WERE WEARING MASKS. We are still in a pandemic and breathing over us as you serve us seems irresponsible, especially for such a high-end place.

Krystyn S.

Yelp
My husband and I visited The Ore House to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. We both agreed, without a doubt, this was the best meal we've ever had. Also the priciest, but you get what you pay for. The food, drinks, and service were phenomenal. My husband got a wedge salad and I had a caesar. I had a petite sirloin and he had the Delmonico ribeye. We split the mac & cheese (with green chiles) and the mushrooms. Every bite was incredible. I really can't do it justice with words. Just try it. You won't be sorry.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Celebrated our Anniversary here and had a fabulous dinner. I have to be gluten free (celiac) and they were easily able to accommodate me. We had to pay a $50 reservation fee but that was immediately refunded once we arrived. Made me sad they have to do this because so many don't show up. The oyster mushrooms were off the hook decadent. I had the palisade peach salad from the "secret" menu and the shishito peppers were fried perfectly. Filet mignon and bearnaise sauce were buttery and perfect. The strawberry rhubarb shortcake was even gluten free, a perfect mildly sweet end to my meal.

Dayla W.

Yelp
The customer service here was top notch. Kara, the director of hospitality was so helpful.

Frances B.

Yelp
Best service ever from hostess to bartender to all wait staff! Food was incredible and wonderful quaint atmosphere! Will definitely be back on our next visit!! Prime Delmonico Cut Rib SteakPrime Delmonico Cut Rib

Marilyn M.

Yelp
Taibi G was wonderful and provided the best dining experience that we have ever had. I will be dreaming about the Steak Tartare, it was amazing! All of our orders were cooked to order and perfection! The atmosphere was extremely relaxing and enjoyable.

MK M.

Yelp
Great service! A very small, nice place to treat yourself to delicious food and beverage services. Very personable staff who use their charms to enhance your dining experience. We enjoyed the following: wedge salad, lobster, rib eye, Mac n cheese, crème brûlée. All were so good!! Fancy boy ice cubes were a nice touch to bourbon on the rocks as was the complimentary drink of the night (whiskey mash I think). Our server was Dan. He added to the evening in a good way.
