"A heritage sightseeing railroad that runs along a pine-covered stretch of the Oregon coast between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach, offering cinematic views of tidal flats, fishing boats, weathered piers and coastal forest. The signature Oregon Coastal Excursion is typically a 90-minute roundtrip (about 30 minutes each way with a 30-minute layover) that departs from either town and includes onboard narration about the route’s history and sights; travelers can also book a later return if they want more time ashore to explore local restaurants, shops or the beach. Most trains are pulled by a 99-year-old steam locomotive (occasionally replaced by a historic diesel), with the locomotive type noted at checkout. Seating options include indoor Coach and Table cars with cushioned seats and sliding windows, plus Covered Open and Open Top outdoor cars with bench seating; small pets are allowed only in the outdoor cars.
