Oretta King West

Great happy hour (aperitivo) until 7pm! They have lots of food items ranging in price from $6-15 for happy hour. We got the croquettes, fried artichoke, a pizza, and calamari. The server was kind and grated extra Parmesan on our pizza. Everything was freshly made and tasted good. The servers refilled our water multiple times even though it was busy, and gave a complimentary almond cookie with a candle for my birthday. Interior is very nice, with high ceilings. Washrooms are upstairs, there is also a large event space there. Will come back!

We went for a birthday and it was the perfect choice. The food has a lot of variety and all of us got great dishes. I ordered the citrus salad and the octopus and they were amazing. Our server Alyssa was very attentive and gave us a service that went above and beyond, she definitely set the standards high. Overall great place.

Food was great. The chefs tasting menu + wine pairing certainly impressed us with a couple excellent dishes. The ladies who helped us were nice. The restaurant is very obviously understaffed and the rain yesterday made things a bit hectic: when it started raining, we were sitting on the patio and the umbrella was not set up so we had zero cover. There was one gentleman in a blazer who approached two tables right next to us and asked them to move in to avoid the rain, but completely ignored us, who were literally sitting right next to their tables. I understood there was a lack of seats indoors, but it would be at least helpful to inform us to stand inside the restaurant and wait to be seated than leaving us dry and thinking whether we were invisible to him. I believe you could easily get a better service somewhere else with a 170$+ per person.

Went to Oretta for our wedding dinner and had a great time. We were given a few different menus to choose from where we could pick the appetizers to share family style as well as selecting the beverage lists. Because we were a small party, we were in the main dining area downstairs which was a little noisy. Service was good; they were attentive at keeping glasses filled. When I used one of the washrooms upstairs, though, the brighter light went out, and I had just a dim light to see by. Another member of our party also went to use the washroom and said there was just a single very dim light. Highlights of the meal were definitely the artichoke hearts. All in all, we had an enjoyable time with good food. I would return to Oretta, though next time I would ask about the lighting in the bathroom.

Came for Saturday brunch, was blown away by the service and quality of food. First off, there was a couple mix ups with our reservation, and it ended up getting pushed back 30 minutes. However not a big deal and the service and food made up for it. Had the bottomless mimosa's and got French Toast, Calamari, and the Tiramisu and Pistachio Bombalone. All were absolutely amazing. We did sit outside on the patio which was great as it was a nice day. Our waitress was awesome, got us everything we needed, food came out really promptly. Service in general was awesome, always made sure our mimosa's were full, making sure we had everything we needed, and just in general checking in on us. Will be back again, 100% recommend their brunch.

Sad, sad, sad. Oretta has truly gone downhill over the last few years and it’s so upsetting to see as this restaurant has so much potential. I was here with a friend for brunch a few Sundays ago and we were ignored as we stood by the host stand waiting to be acknowledged. When the host finally looked up, she grabbed two menus and quietly started walking towards the back of the restaurant. It was so awkward to follow her without a greeting or anything. Finally, she sat us down at the last table under that dark and small area with the fake flowers everywhere. It was so loud with the echo of a party of a few girls sitting next to us. We waited for exactly 8 minutes to be greeted by a server and nobody showed up so we left. Two saturdays after that I stopped by the cafe in the back for a sandwich that used to be my favourite in the area and it was disgusting. 2 pieces of spinach, bland cheese, dry bread and old prosciutto. I think it was like $15 for that? It’s rude to charge people for garbage. Very sad.

The atmosphere is quite nice, and the food tastes good, worth a visit for those wanting to check it out. PAPPARDELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE ($26): Tomato meat sauce pasta. I don't eat goat cheese, so I asked for it without the cheese, and it was a bit watery. The noodles seemed handmade and were chewy and delicious, but the sauce was a bit salty. BISTECCA ALLA PIZZAIOLA ($46): Tomato and steak, very delicious and highly recommended. The portion is large, enough to share. PATATE ($14): I do not recommend this. The fries looked nice but were bland, with the aroma of truffle oil but no saltiness or flavor. This restaurant does not provide ketchup, and even with the aioli sauce I ordered for an extra ($2), it was not tasty.

Honestly I wouldn’t recommend their happy hour… they market it as if you’re getting a good deal on their regular items but it’s actually just like a tapas/small plate style menu and the prices aren’t better than elsewhere. The portions were quite small and the food was nothing to write home about. The tiramisu martini was also over rated in my opinion. If you’re a wine drinker they do have good prices for wine during their happy hour and it’s a cute vibe so I would recommend it for that.
