Came here a two months ago for a work dinner and the whole atmosphere was great. The food was fantastic. We got the focaccia and calamari as appetizers which definitely are go to choices. I got the blue crab pasta and they were also accommodating when I asked for no chili oil as well. We got the tiramisu for dessert and it’s definitely one of my favourites. The inside of the restaurant was very nicely decorated. The servers were nice and friendly and answered any questions that we had. Will definitely be back in the future.

Overall a great experience. Service 10/10. Atmosphere 10/10. I had the lamb shank with peppers on the side. Others had pizzas. Food very good but shy of excellent. Some low flavour notes on pizzas made up for with high spice over the top. Lamb shanks ordered medium rare were rare. Design is perfect - you could be dressed to the nines or casual and feel at home.

One word: WOW hands-down, one of the best restaurants I have been to in my life. Everything was done to perfection. The service was above and beyond. The flavours of the entire menu were all above and beyond. The dessert, the pineapple was the sweetest pineapple I’ve had in my life. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates culinary perfection.

We hosted a birthday dinner for 8 people with an 8:30 PM reservation. When we arrived, our table wasn’t ready, and we waited about 15–20 minutes before being seated at a high-top beside the kitchen — not ideal for a birthday celebration we had booked two weeks in advance. We asked to be moved upstairs, which was accommodated. Once seated, we ordered drinks and appetizers. Our drinks came around 9:10 PM, but the appetizers took nearly an hour and arrived at the same time as our mains. The service felt disorganized and slow throughout the evening. We had also brought a birthday cake, which we gave to the front desk to store. When it was brought back, the writing had transferred onto the box and ruined the top of the cake. The server kindly asked if we’d like it re-written in chocolate, and we agreed. When the cake was finally brought out, it had been cut horizontally through the middle instead of vertically, which ruined both the presentation and the layered filling. While our server was kind and polite, the overall experience fell short of expectations. For a birthday celebration dinner we expected better service, attention to detail, and care for a special occasion. The ambiance was nice, but the evening as a whole was disappointing.

Google
Oretta in Midtown was such a cute date night spot. I haven’t seen my friend for 10 years and we both decided we have our dinner at Oretta and it was not disappointing at all. Each meal they served were perfect. Not too bland, not too salty, just perfect! My favorite was their truffle pasta and their salmon pasta… and their buratta pasta.. ok everything we basically ordered. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fancy and cozy dining spot, or even for lunches!!

Google
Beautiful brunch experience! The presentation was stunning, especially the avocado toast topped with perfectly soft boiled eggs, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of olive oil. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully balanced. The ambiance was calm with lovely natural light, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing brunch. Service was friendly and attentive. Just a touch more flavor or warmth in the toast and softer bread would make it a full 5 stars, but overall, an excellent brunch spot I’d definitely return to!

Google
Oretta places a lot of effort into its vibe and decor, creating an environment that is conducive of instagram-ready and aesthetically pleasing photos. It's the kind of restaurant puts more emphasis into its appearance and that is particularly reflected in the food. I think it's a good option if you're wanting to dine with a larger group of friends or just want an easy option for a nice night out! Oretta will definitely tick those boxes. The food is just average in my opinion, and on the pricier side at that. I wouldn't be itching to come back, but I wouldn't be totally opposed to it either if friends wanted to come back for brunch. The atmosphere is fun and as long as you aren't holding high expectations for the food, it's good enough!

Google
Oretta, located in Midtown, is a restaurant I truly enjoyed in terms of its atmosphere, service quality, and delicious food. With an extensive menu, it offers something to suit every palate. The space is bright and airy, creating a very pleasant dining environment. The staff are both professional and attentive, making the experience even better. Whether you're planning a dinner for two or a larger group gathering, Oretta is a great choice.

Yelp
We loved Oretta so much that we went two days in a row, first for brunch, then again for lunch the next day during our anniversary weekend in Toronto! The ambiance is absolutely stunning. We sat out on the terrace both times, which gave us the perfect view and summer breeze, but even the indoor space is gorgeous, high ceilings, modern lighting, and a sleek bar that instantly makes the place feel elevated and vibrant. (See the photo, it truly speaks for itself.) On our first visit, we ordered bottomless mimosas, a pizza with spicy salami, peppers, and olives, the French toast with tiramisu cream and berries, and the lemon cake with mascarpone and berry compote. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, especially the French toast. The next day, my husband had the Margherita pizza, and I ordered the Bolognese. I asked Sharifa for a wine pairing recommendation, and she suggested a rosato from Sicily, a light red wine that complemented both dishes perfectly. Our server Annie was incredibly kind and attentive, and Sharifa helped make both visits extra memorable with her thoughtful wine pairing and warm presence. Even the small details impressed us, like the row of private, individual bathrooms instead of the standard gendered setup. Clean, modern, and considerate. Oretta offers everything: chic atmosphere, standout service, and fresh, delicious food. We'll absolutely be returning the next time we're in Toronto.

Yelp
This is such an "Instagramable" place !!! As soon as you walk in, you got lots of beautiful pink vibes and decor ! I love walking in feeling like I'm in someone's garden!! They have a beautiful patio for the summer with an ice cream station outdoors it's absolutely gorgeous! Service: 4/5 I've been here twice and the second time was a bit slower and unfortunately the waitress we had was completely uninterested. However, the hostess and the food was 5+++++/5 The bottomless mimosas are absolutely amazing our entire table enjoyed it!! My omelette burrata 5++++/5 totally recommend And my ultimate favourite was the pistachio gelato ice cream fantastic just the best flavour wow Overall, this is the spot to hit if you're looking for a great breakfast/ brunch spot you will not be disappointed!! Cheers

Yelp
One of my favourite restaurants to go to whenever I'm in Midtown. The staff is always so lovely, and the food is even better. I love their pizza and pasta dishes but my favourite is definitely Papardelle and the Margherita pizza! The cutest decor at the place, perfect for a birthday dinner! 8.5/10 recommend!

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my cousins birthday with a big group! The waiters were very fast and efficient. I truly loved how beautiful the interior was, very bright interior with high ceilings. But i felt the food was lacking a lot of flavour, but I can see others liking this more. I just didn't find anything special to go back unless I had to go with a group of friends. I got the TAGLIATA DI MANZO for $32 6oz flat iron steak, fried eggs, potato, black truffle, This is only for brunch, the steak was just okay and the black truffle was barely tasted and there was specifically only 4 potatoes, they could add more. The restroom was really clean and there was an upstairs as well!

Yelp
We came here on a weekday for dinner and were pleased with their Happy Hour offers. The restaurant is beautiful with a nice bar in the middle, heated and covered patio and second level dining area. The Happy Hour runs 3-7pm, Monday-Thursday. Their menu includes appetizers, main dishes, shareable, red wine and white wine. We ordered "Carbonara", "Calamari", "Che Bella Burger", "Pizzetta La Parma" and "Pasta Al Forno". The food was delicious, with smaller portions for Happy Hour. The service can be more attentive, as we had to wait longer for water refill.

Yelp
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful!!! This is a perfect spot for a girlie brunch/lunch. Stunning!! The service was amazing as well. Our waitress was extremely nice and was able to make accommodations for us. We last minute decided to come here and was able to book a reso for 4 people. Food: - Uova Burrata E Tartufo: 3/5 stars. For $24, I expected more out of the eggs and entire fish actually. The egg was not salted or seasoned enough. The texture was good, bit wet. The bread was plain and the cheese was ok. - not sure what the other dishes are specifically as those were my friends but they looked much better than mine and they said it tasted great. I wish they had pictures in the menu so I could see what my dish looked like before I got it. I would come back here to try other dishes!

Yelp
Pizza is big can be shared among 2 people no truffle flavour in the Piemonte not very flavourful

Yelp
A beautiful brunch place. Make sure you have a reso if you want to be sitted in the patio. Love the food, drink, coffee in here. Very friendly staff

Yelp
Have been to this location a few times now. Better service, ambiance, and food than the king st location. The two floors with high ceilings give it a more spacious feeling. The servers are attentive and there isn't the noise of the streetcar or traffic as the king street location. It's a picture worthy restaurant too. Their espresso martini is a go to for sure. For food we had the truffle pasta, beef tartare pizza and calamari. Dessert was the hazelnut bacio di pantelleria They have a discounted menu weekdays 3-7pm too.

Yelp
Brunched here with my girlfriends because Mia brunch bar across the street had an hour-long wait. Oretta, meanwhile, had plenty of space on a Saturday at 11:30am. This is a huge, beautifully decorated restaurant! So damn cute. We tried: *Avocado toast with hard boiled eggs -- good, basic *Truffle scrambled eggs -- yummy *French toast -- not bad (would try the lemon pancakes next time) *Breakfast sandwich panini (fried egg, sausage patty) -- SO GOOD!! My fave.

Yelp
Food was amazing, not your usual boring brunch options! Everything had a unique and cool taste that made it one of a kind! We ordered a mix of sweet and savoury options to taste test from each other - I think this was a great idea since it's hard to decide what to get! Price was typical for the portion size and service was great. Overall the space was very nice and well maintained, I especially enjoyed the clean bathrooms!

Yelp
I visited the Midtown location for the first time for weekend brunch. Reservations can be made through OpenTable, but this location isn't as busy as the King West location, so walk-ins may be possible. Food 3/5 - unfortunately, the food here was mostly just okay...the calamari had a nice crisp but certain pieces seemed saltier than others, like the batter wasn't mixed thoroughly. The Salmon & Avocado dish was underwhelming. The scrambled eggs had good taste and texture, while the brioche bun and smoked salmon part of the dish tasted like a home cooked meal quickly thrown together on stale bread. The zabaglione cream on the "Frutti di Bosco" dish was quite good. However, the fruits weren't the freshest as some of the strawberries were browning, and the presentation looked like a lazy blob. Finally, the "bacio di pantelleria" had a beautiful presentation, and tasted like Ferraro Rocher chocolates, but I would recommend getting some tea or coffee to go with it as it can be quite rich halfway through. Service 4/5 - our server was friendly, and efficient for the most part. She asked how the first bite of the appetizer tasted but didn't check up on the table again as our water never got refilled, and it was a bit hard getting her attention to see the dessert menu. Atmosphere 5/5 - As always, the Oretta atmosphere is lively, since it's a popular place to host events such as corporate gatherings, birthdays, bridal showers, etc. This, however, can make the restaurant quite loud. The decor is gorgeous, with lots of natural light flowing in due to their floor to ceiling windows, and the hostesses in PJ like uniforms is a cute touch. They have a cute, covered patio for the warmer days as well.

Yelp
The pasta was nothing special. The tiramisu martini was yummy and looked very nice. The salad not fun to eat, too much of a hassle to cut. The calamari was quite good and had good flavour. The interior is very nice and aesthetic.

Yelp
the happy hour is the best time to go in my opinion. the pizzas are an okay size for this deal and they have a pretty good variety of food for the prices. the ambiance is also very nice and pretty.

Yelp
Have loved this restaurant since they opened but was disappointed to experience a change in the service. Our waitress could care less if we got our food or not. The food fortunately when it came in bits and pieces was very tasty...it is always consistent at Oretta. I prefer to sit on their patio however our company chose to sit inside which is a lovely space, just a bit loud for my liking. Hopefully the service was a blip, because there are so many other good restaurants nearby, I would rather give my $ to those who provide decent service.

Yelp
Very nice place, good service and great atmosphere! The food is great. The prices are a little high but it's like this everywhere in Toronto!

Yelp
As much as I loved the decor and how chic this place looked, I wasn't really happy with the food here. It's a very cute brunch place located in midtown (they also have a location in downtown), and I had heard good reviews about the place before deciding to check it out for myself, and I have to say I was not very impressed. We had ordered the salmon avocado egg - supposed to be one of their specialties, but the quantity and quality were both underwhelming. Next up, we had their uova burrata e Tartufo, which came with scrambled eggs, burrata and toasted focaccia. I liked this dish to an extent but I've had WAY better tasting burrata before, and this one didn't cut it. Finally, we got their Tagliata de Manzo, which was their steak along with fried potatoes and eggs, and this too tasted average. I think the best part of our meal was their dessert--we ordered tiramisu, and that was really good.
google avatar

Lisa V.

Yelp
Happy hour all the way! Amazing deals on food and drink. The polenta fries and lasagna were on point. Service was also excellent. He answered all of our questions about each dish and which one he thought was better. A little disappointed that the tiramisu was no longer on the menu, but the torta Caprese was pretty tasty! Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Beautiful and warm space. Hard to have a conversation here because it's a pretty loud venue. But if you're in a small group sitting closely it should be fine Customer service is spot on. Friendly, attentive and fast. Hard to argue here. The food is beautifully presented. The food I can say was tasty but I can was not particularly something that I would not have elsewhere - better. I love burrata and truffle but it fell flat in their brunch dish. Same with the French toast and seasonal fruit with mascarpone. Apart from that this place for me really had more of a get together and hang out vibe. Would I go here again? Yes.

Matt K.

Yelp
Have to say the visit was rather disappointing, service was extremely slow, food was average, and to make matters worse there was a live animal show - at least two mice scampering all over the delightfully appointed glassed-in wine display
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Delicious food, fancy decor and lively servers. This is a special place with great cocktails and handmade pastas. With an open kitchen concept, this is a great venue for group outings or date night! We tried a lot of great dishes, check out the pics!

Yelp
Very cute spot, just south of Yonge & Eg! It's on the east side of Yonge street, just past the staples. Came by for brunch with some girlfriends and had a nice time. Wasn't hard to make a reservation (and truthfully, we didn't need one since we got together at 10 am on a Sunday) Location: super convenient especially if you're close to midtown! I love being able to walk from a subway station. Food: I ordered the salmon and avocado on brioche. It was a good amount of salmon and the toasted brioche paired well. Heads up, the chilli oil is not spicy at all. I do wish they didn't charge by the cup for something like drip coffee at brunch. Atmosphere: very cute and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere! Love the high ceilings and lots of natural light. The bench is a little isn't the comfiest though. Service: great service! Very attentive.

Yelp
Happy hour at Oretta (Mon - fri 4-7) Pros - Restaurant is beautifully decorated - happy hour drinks were deals ( wines, some cocktails like spritz) - patio seating available Cons - Service was so/so. Waitress was nice but kept forgetting our drinks - Food is not worth it and not very good. - funghi pizza ( part of happy hour) came out cold and chewy -calamari ( part of happy hour) came out cold and portions are small - sea bream taste was mediocre, small portions and not worth the price I would visit again for drinks and maybe finger foods outside of the happy hour menu. Don't know if the happy hour food are all pre made in advance and not warmed up for customers. I didn't find it appetizing and worth it even for the discounted price. I think the restaurant is beautiful though and would come back for a glass of wine.

Yelp
Made a quick impromptu reservation earlier in the day for 5:15pm. Arrived a little late but our party of two was seated quickly. Currently on Mon-Fri during certain hours there are some specials. We ended up ordering a personal sized pizza piemonte and calamari to start with an aperol spritz for myself. The pizza was delicious and had quite a bit of toppings. Not a fan of paper straws so I took it out if my drink midway. The calamari was a decent portion and crispy. For our mains we both ordered a pasta dish. Got the mezzo paccheri and the pappardelle alla bolognese. I loved the sauce of mine. I could taste the nuttiness and granular texture of the pistachios along with a zing of orange zest. The pasta itself was done perfectly and I finished my entire plate! There was also a decent number of shrimp as well. With the other dish I loved pappardelle pasta!! The sauce was a bit more basic. But my question is why were all the tables around us offered freshly grate parmesan except us :( A tad bit disappointed. I would come back to try their other pastas. Definitely interested in their brunch too!

Yelp
Lovely modern Italian resto in midtown. Lots of options on the menu. This time we tried the lunch special and selected the fennel salad, calamari, branzino and gelato. Salad was so fresh with lots of fennel and lightly dressed. Branzino was delicious and came perfectly seared. Dark chocolate gelato a little too gummy and thick. Mojito was perfectly done. See you next time.

Yelp
First things first, the patio outside is super cute and the design inside is really pretty -- definite win. Had my birthday dinner here this last week (Libra season!) and we had a great time. The food was good -- appetizers we had burrata and calamari. Both were amazing and probably the best part of the meal. Pizzas were great and their gluten free crust was a winner. One of my guests is vegan, and the restaurant did say they could accommodate (asked before coming). And by accommodate I guess they meant pasta with tomato sauce -- not at all what was described so that was kinda too bad. One guest ordered the steak and said it was great just wished it had come with something whereas it did not. We were sitting upstairs and were thinking they don't quite have the hang of that yet. We waited ages for drinks, even water refills. Our waitress was amazing and was running around like crazy, but the bar staff not sure what was the deal. (And when going through 4+ bottles of wine and other drinks, you'd anticipate a bit more attention -- or organization I should say) Tiramisu was my lovely birthday dessert and it was delicious. We also ordered the table side cannoli-- DO THAT! So fun. Overall we had a great time and our waitress was amazing. I probably won't rush back here, but it was worth the experience!

Yelp
My family and I were there for Sunday brunch. It was our first visit to this location. We've been to the one on King Street for dinner. The interior is really cute and I love the colour palette. The tables are nicely spaced out with a private room upstairs and a nice floral patio. We ordered the salmon benny and it was pretty good. My hubby had the dish with sausage and egg and that was really good. The Shirley temple is amazing but abit pricey for &12 each. The tiramisu was amazing. We would love to eat it again.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a few girlies on a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommended to make reservations ahead of time to lock in a table. Price - $$ to $$$ - food ranges from $22-30 price range. Drinks start at about $14. Parking- street parking or parking garages around the area. Food & drinks - Ordered the carbonara, and the blue cocktail drink. Carbonara was flavourful, al dente, and portion size is 'just' enough. Tried the other dishes my friends also got, including pizza - which I highly recommend. Crust is crispy, thin, yet topped with a generous portion of a balance of toppings. I preferred the pizza over the pasta tbh. Ordered pancakes on the side, it is a must! Creamy yet soft, topped with whipped cream and a blueberry-like jam. Would definitely reorder this in the future. Tiramisu, also recommended! One of my favourites. They do have brunch specials for $45 including a mimosa, anything from their menu, and a bombette Italian dessert. (If interested in having a variety, try it out).

Yelp
Nice modern ambiance. There are two floors and we were seated on the second floor, the noise level is a little high but it's Friday night after all. Nice ambiance and friendly service. I started off with a cocktail, the Farrara-a sparkling red wine punch featuring the best flavours of Emilia-Romagna Lambrusco Sparkling Wine, Cynar, Watermelon, Balsamic. Very refreshing and I can taste the watermelon. Perfect summer drink! The second cocktail that I had was the CATANZARO the best Calabrian citrus perfectly paired with southern Italy's fiery Peperoncino Blanco Tequila, Bergamot, Clementine, Peperoncino. It was salty and spicy, lots of flavour profile going on. I preferred the Farrara. I order the PIEMONTE pizza with fior di latte, fontina, mixed roasted mushrooms, truffle crema, garlic purée. The fior di latte was so tasty! Even the crust tasted good The CAVATELLI ALLE CIME DI RAPA with pork sausage, rapini, parmigiano. The rapini went well with the sauce, absorb a lot of the sauce and delicious with the pasta. The cavatelli was nice and chewy, al dente. Overall a nice dining experience and will be back to try other items on the menu!

Yelp
I have been to Oretta now 3 times (lunch, brunch and dinner). All 3 times the experience was mediocre. I keep going back because someone wants to try it or they think the decor is nice. The last experience left us all quite frustrated. While our Server was friendly, she wasn't able to answer our questions about the menu. The zucchini blossom was tasty but 4 small pieces for $22 was a bit steep. The weekday set lunch $34++ pp came with a choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert. Overall, I like their lunch menu the best out of all their menus. My pasta was al dente and hearty. The calamari was well fried. The tiramisu and the gelato were the highlights of the meal. We went there to celebrate my dad and the restaurant wasn't too busy on a long weekend Monday lunch. After 1.5 hours past our reservation time and 45 minutes after our appetizer, we still didn't get our entrée. Bare in mind we had 2 young kids so 45 minutes gap was a long wait. I had to resort to feeding them junk food from my bag. We were hangry especially watching the kitchen just chatting and moving slowly. I finally asked the Server where our entrées were. She said the kitchen never received our order, the Manager then stood in front of the kitchen and ensured our food came quickly. My question is, how can they not have clued in with all our utensils and plates take away from our appetizer and us sitting there for so long without food. To my surprise, when the bill came nothing was done. When I voiced my frustration over the long wait, she then went to speak her Manager and took our bill away for amendment. After 10 minutes, the same bill came back and the Manager gave us a GC for the next visit. Annoyingly, the GC didn't indicate the value so I had to ask for it. For our bill over $365 he gave us a $25 GC. Honestly, it's not even the amount, it's the fact that it felt petty and not genuine. Server was friendly but she never topped up our water until we asked then it stayed empty for the remainder of the meal again. For our poor experience they still chose to add the 18% grat, which I feel should have been left as an option for us. What was supposed to be a joyous celebration turned my dad into a sour mood. Yes, the room is beautiful but I wish they would spend more time on training and customer service. The male Italian Manager can be less transactional and more genuine. Ps coffee is not refillable unless it's brunch (even the Servers said it's a strange policy and they get complaints all the time).

Yelp
I'm loathe to write a review of a joint where I haven't taken a single bite, but sometimes you have an experience so bad, so annoying that you want to rant a little. We had a couple of hours to kill before a nearby comedy show, so I figured we'd pop into Oretta for a few drinks and a meal. Upon arriving at the hostess stand, we were told that there were no regular tables available and would we like to sit at the bar or a high-top table? (Side note: the restaurant was mostly empty and I get that they're saving regular tables for later reservations, but it was just a little after 5:00 and if we'd been asked to vacate within an hour, we could've easily done that.) Anyway, we decided to go for the high-top and were immediately shown to a table behind the bar. Said table was right next to an area where a large group of servers were chatting and folding napkins. It was extremely awkward and unpleasant, so we left before we ordered anything. Why is a table like that even an option? Are there people who enjoy the experience of eating a meal while people are working literally inches away from them? I can safely say I'll never return to Oretta. Holy moly.

Yelp
Really cute place that seems to book up very quickly. We walked in without a reservation. Actually we meant to go to another spot for lunch but it was so busy. We noticed the cute decor here and figured why not? They were out of tables but we did get to sit at the bar, which honestly was really comfortable any way. Service was really attentive and quick! Lucky for us we were seated right next to where they mix drinks so it was very very easy to get help when we needed. It was around 1pm, so we ordered linguini carbonara, the scrambled eggs with focaccia, and the calamari. Calamari was massive but I forgot to take a photo. I didn't love it though. The breading had no seasoning and it just didn't hit the spot. I did like the carbonara. It was a great al dente texture. It was a bit heavy though and all the guanciale was very burnt. A few were too tough to chew. The scrambled eggs were done the exact way I like. Sadly, it was suppose to have black truffle and we couldn't taste it. The food was good over all but underwhelming. I don't think it was worth the price. But the service was quite lovely and it's a gorgeous space. Really glad we came by!

Yelp
We came for happy hour on a friday and there was still a lot of open seating. Parking was kind of tough but its next to a residential street so we luckily found parking along there. We only came for happy hour after already having lunch so we didn't get to try the pizza unfortunately. We opted for wine and a charcuterie board ($11, same price as some of the pizza, would recommend the pizza instead). It was good but I found it weird that it didnt come with some crackers or bread. It paired well with our wine though but if I come back I am looking forward to trying real food.

Yelp
Love this place, good food and nice atmosphere. The service is good as well but can be a bit slow at times.

Yelp
I cannot review the food at this place because apparently this location likes to ignore confirmed reservations. It was to celebrate 3 birthdays so reservations made almost one month before. We happened to call the day of by fluke to find out we had NO reservation. No help was provide. No solution. No apology except try their king st location. And then admitted to seeing the email but the response was "oh well. Too bad. So sad". Also we tried to call back after the initial conversation. And they stopped answering the phone. 3 people tried calling afterwards. No apologies. Total disregard. BE AWARE OF THIS PLACE WHEN MAKING RESERVATIONS. definitely would not recommend.

Yelp
I went here with my work for lunch a few months back. We all got a bunch of appetizers to share and then each got a main course. The appetizers were delicious. My main course was not. Me and a few colleagues ordered the Carbonara and for some reason it tasted like Kraft Dinner. While KD is fine at home with kids or when you're drunk, it's not what an Italian restaurant's carbonara should taste like. Service, I will say, was very nice. Everyone was friendly and kind and knew the menu well, and Oretta is always beautifully designed. But service and ambiance don't make up for the fact that the food just wasn't really that good.
google avatar

Jim H.

Yelp
Nice open atmosphere with lots of windows foe natural light. The calamari appetizer was very good and tender with a light breading. I had the risotto that I really enjoyed. The rice was slightly al dente and sprinkled with olive oil and fresh rosemary. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and was happy to see that there were plenty of seats available so there wasn't a wait time. First impression of this beautiful place is as you walk in makes it feel exciting and a perfect date spot. Our server was fantastic and attentive. Really enjoyed that part but I think the low stars was for the coffee (americano) which was so so and the food options weren't very tempting. I settled for the burrata and my friend had the avocado toast. Nothing to write home about and I have to say it wasn't terrible but I guess I had just expected more for the price point, the portion and for a place that looked so fancy. I will return and give it another go possible at a different time than brunch.

Yelp
This is my first time coming to Oretta. The interior design is beautiful and there are two floors in total. You can book tables for an event and will assist you in putting a set menu together. Today my girlfriends and I came for brunch. The plates were beautiful and the food was delicious. We also had to try their cannoli which is served tableside. The servers are very friendly and the kitchen is open so you can see what the kitchen staff are doing. I highly recommend coming here for brunch with your partner, with family, or with your group of friends. Cheers!

Yelp
Came here for brunch on the weekend. My first thought walking in was that the interior was very chic! Got the uova burrata e tartufo which was a scrambled egg dish with burrata cheese, black truffle and focaccia toasted with butter. This was yummy and filling! I also ordered an ice coffee on the side, and shared a strawberry pastry for dessert. The pastry was layered with cream and not too sweet. It reminded me a lot of the napoleon cake we normally get at Chinese bakeries. Overall a solid meal!

Yelp
Okay Oretta Midtown The decor and overall aesthetics rival its downtown location - it has the same Art Deco elements only darker. A bit more sophisticated if you will. The patio is decorated with brightly coloured flowers and greenery. Sadly it was fully booked (obviously) so I wasn't able to enjoy the ambiance there and take some cute pictures. I had lower expectations for food here because of its downtown location. A lot of restaurants downtown tend to focus on their aesthetics moreso than the food. I was expecting food to be greasy and not taste as fresh. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was actually good! The ingredients were fresh and the portions were just right. Not a fan of Caesar salad normally but I actually like their version on the salad. The calamari was done well and I really enjoyed the linguine alla genovese. The Piemonte pizza with the truffle crema was really good and went well with the pasta. Super glad that Oretta now has a second location! Can't wait to come back and have brunch next time!

Yelp
Love Happy Hour at this place, and it's become a weekly routine for my wife and me. Vibrant crowd inside, and great street side patio. Favourites are the calamari (some of the best I've ever had), pizzas, buratta salads. Also try the carbonara croquette! All very reasonably priced, as is the happy hour wine by the glass.

Yelp
Had a great anniversary brunch at Oretta. The thing that really drew me to having brunch here was that their morning menu offered breakfast and lunch items. I also liked that we didn't have to travel to downtown to visit a modern, well-designed dining area with good service. We were able to order the steak and eggs, calamari, and also parma pizza. The great mixture of breakfast and lunch foods really help with going to lunch during a weekend. We thorough enjoyed the calamari. It was well breaded, fried, and had a great texture to bite. The insides were soft; just like how calamari should be done. I recommend this dish and probably will return for it. The steak and eggs were a bit of a letdown. We wanted to have runny yoke but there wasn't anything running for the steak strips to bathe in to provide a perfect bite. The potatoes were great and well seasoned. This is definitely enough for one person to have a good breakfast. Lastly, the oven baked pizza was well executed. Crust was nice and thin, crispy. It was perfect for a nice hand held bite. I personally am an arugula and prosciutto fan so this was excellent. Overall, We had a great meal and our server was very attentive.

Yelp
It's nice that they have happy hour here with food and drinks special. This is probably one of the few places in midtown that offers it. We didn't make reservations and just walked in and the host told us there was only bar seating. We walked in and we saw 3/4 of the restaurant empty with lots of seats available. We asked her if we can be seated at a table instead and she told us they they're reserved for 6:30 & 7PM dinner reservations but it was only 5:30 at the time. We told her we had dinner reservations elsewhere at 7PM so we'd leave by then so she tried to find us a seat. She literally placed as in the far back corner away from everything when there were so many seats in the front with sunlight. We were so confused but sat down anyways. We proceeded to order some drinks and calamari to snack on. Nothing special about food or drink so we finished up and just left for our dinner reservation.

Yelp
Food was delicious, some fancy cocktails on offer, service was impeccable although it was a little weird for two service staff ( not sure of their roles) to be wearing what looked like pyjamas! Something of a hip and young place, quite noisy but lots of energy. Prices were a little steep but I supposed that is to be expected in downtown.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous. Airy with beautiful high ceilings and light colours. We, 4 of us, went for a business lunch. It was amazing. All if it. Service, food, venue. We shared crispy calamari, and artichoke hearts. The artichoke hearts were good but I think it was the aioli that put it over the top. Same with the calamari. The dip was perfect. Next came a couple of pizzas to split. Margharita, and a white one with mushrooms. The margharita was cooked perfectly. The mushroom one looked good but I never got a chance to taste it. Apparently it was also amazing. We'll be back for date night.

Yelp
My experience at Oretta is based on ordering from their Aperativo menu that's in effect from 4pm until 7pm, Monday to Friday. The Amalfitana cocktail together with calamari were both excellent. Their regular menu is not exactly affordable but you can count on a good meal if you can afford to eat here. in The Service was great too. Our server was very attentive and courteous. I wish the chairs were more comfortable but I'm nitpicking. Overall, I had a good time and I would love to be back at Oretta soon. RE: Parking There's street-level curbside parking as well as underground parking in the same building Oretta is located in. You can access it from Hillsdale Ave East.

Yelp
Such a lovely spot! I've been to the downtown location so I couldn't wait to come to the midtown one. Such a beautiful restaurant, especially all the flowers surrounding the patio (makes for great pictures). The inside is beautifully decorated and it's just overall so bright and spacious. I ordered a pizza, calamari and a cocktail. The calamari was one of the best tasting I've ever had at a restaurant. Pizza was also enjoyed. My only disappointment was out of the whole menu of cocktails, only 2 were available due to a shortage of alcohol. Other than that, service was great so I'd love to go back.

Yelp
I tried the fried calamari & arancini for appetizers - the arancini were some of the best I've had in a while; the calamari were good solid 8/10. I tried 3 pizzas - the burrata, porchetta and fichi - the fichi was my favorite with the right ratios of honey, cheese and other ingredients; the burrata pizza was underwhelming and I don't recommend. I tried both Cavatelli alla Vodka pasta and Mezzi Rigatoni alle Norcina pasta - they were both al dente and flavourful.. I found them a bit too flavourful to the point where I needed to have water between bites - perhaps recommend getting some bread if you're getting the pasta to dull some of the flavour. For dessert - I tried a few gelatos, tiramisu and tiramisu di bronte - the gelatos were all very good, the tiramisu's were not good - the classic one was not classic and the other was too sweet + the cookie to cream ratio was WAY off. For drinks - I got the tiramisu martini - it was very strong and delicious, I would definitely recommend getting this oppose to the tiramisu desserts. Overall, the food was good, solid option for Italian if you're in the neighbourhood or want to come for the beautiful decor and ambiance. The service was good but also bad - started off strong and the waitress was very nice, although she came back fairly infrequently and forgot to put in our pasta orders so we waited a while for food between courses (30+ minutes).
