Hotel is in a good location that is close to two metro stations. It is also close to the park that N-tower is located within. The room itself was better than expected. Nicely decorated and has a washing / drying machine out in the patio area. It is basically an Airbnb in that it has the usual necessities of home you'd want - washing machine, kitchen utensils, oven, microwave - you have everything you need to settle in and enjoy your trip.I didn't check out the gym though I heard that there was one. Service was good and polite.

It was comfortable and quiet place near Center of city. Unfortunately this hotel don’t have service/present for Birthdays. And one time somebody from staff left things after cleaning. But I’m glad to rest there cause bed was comfortable, and shower products was good quality. They have automatic laundry - it’s very important).

Near chungmuro station, very spacious. No space to put shampoo in the shower/bathtub. No space to hang towels to dry. Very small sink in bathroom. The good: microwave, portable induction, kitchenette sink that can we used to wash things. Cutlery and dining ware available in room. Automated window for ventilation that is safe as well.

I was extremely disappointed by my stay at Hotel Oriens Issues listed in order of inconvenience: 1. The hotel only has AC in the fall/winter months during a very short period of time during the day. The hotel knows that it's hot in the rooms and they provide multiple fans, but fans are not able to cool down a hot room. They only blow around hot air. Our room was probably over 27°C (80°F) in the evening and they refused to turn on AC because the outside temperature was under 20°C. This made it extremely uncomfortable. We attempted to open the window, but there was no screen. This makes us very vulnerable to mosquitoes (see point 3). The hotel needs modernize and have independent AC units in each unit. Central air is obviously not working well. 2. The rooms are not maintained well and look dirty and dingy inside. See pictures. The bathroom gave off an extremely musty sewage smell that wasn't helped by the weak fan. The worst thing while travelling is not feeling clean and this hotel gave me the constant feeling that I couldn't get clean. 3. There's a severe mosquito problem originating on the first floor which results in there being mosquitoes all over the hotel. I saw more than 10 mosquitoes just on the first night after I checked in. The things that were okay: Bedding was comfortable and pillows were down. Fitness center had enough to get in a good workout (treadmill, smith machine, dumbbells, elliptical, etc.). Hotel staff was kind and accommodating given the administrative restrictions they had (AC). They tried their best to help us work around how hot the room was without actually turning on the AC. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. Especially if you're seeking out a convenient location to Myeongdong. I'd consider other accommodations. Note that the good reviews are for the suites with in-room air conditioning/thermostat. For the basic rooms you will be at the whim of the hotel’s odd Air Conditioning policy.

Stayed here for a few nights in the 1 Bedroom apartment and it was a special experience. Oriens Hotel and Residence is a hotel with some units featuring a full kitchen along with washer cum dryer. Booked direct and the room was ready upon arrival. ||There were some notable cultural differences. For example, I received an email from a beverage company claiming to be the "front desk". Upon reviewing the beverage company's website, there didn't appear to be an affiliation with the hotel. The front desk claims that they are part of the beverage company... The day of check-in, the property ran my credit card for my stay, signed on my behalf, issued a refund and emailed informing me that they did that to "check the validity of my card" and that I would have to pay in person. ||The property itself was special. The front entrance was on level 4 which was very loud at night as the windows had minimal sound proofing, perhaps cultural? The main entrance for daily in and out was via the back alley accessible from Level 1. ||A good chunk of the property is on lower levels which face each other. The "courtyard" may be 6 feet at most between each other, thus most rooms don't have a view. The HVAC situation is also special as no A/C is available in the winter despite the apartment getting really warm. Luckily, the windows did open to a very loud expressway offramp.||The apartments on my floor were special as the door to my apartment opened outwards towards the hallway. My neighbors apartment had some type of aluminum foil-esque window covering?!?||The windows in my apartment opened all the way, making it a perfect escape in case of a fire. Having the washing cum dryer machine on the covered patio was a good idea.||Wifi was free and unsecured with each room having their own router. There is a dishwasher inside my apartment along with a black piece of tape covering the control panel...||The HVAC system also controlled the water heater which was all in Korean. The shower featured a handheld with super narrow showerhead. The towels in my bathroom were fluffy albeit a touch thin.||The mattress in the bedroom was an economy Bonnell spring mattress that moved the entire mattress whenever one side moved. This was surprising as the apartment was designed for 2 people ||There is a gym, shared kitchen, along with a communal paid washing machine and separate paid dryer for laundry.

Hotel is away from Myeongdong area but as what other reviews mentioned, they need a facelift. Rooms are aged and worn out. Shower didn't have any glass door or curtains making water slip out to the rest of the toilet

I stayed at the Oriens from Oct 24th to Oct 31st. This hotel was a mixed bag I'll list out the Pros and Cons Cons: NO AIR CONDITIONING- Part of the reason we booked this hotel is because it lists that it has air conditioning in the room but no where does it mention that the AC is not on when the temperature is lower than a certain point. I live in Canada and 20 degrees is not cold. Our room was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable despite the two fans provided. It made going back to the room like opening an oven door every time and it made us not want to come back to the hotel room because outside was so much cooler and nicer than inside our room. I understand that being the norm in the country but if you're accommodating foreigners you need to have them have the option to adjust the room temperature. VERY ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES- The hotel looks great in pictures and even in person at first glance, however when you look closer it needs a serious update, The bathrooms while clean are a dimly lit and look like they were thrown together by someone who didn't know what they doing, the TV is an ancient tiny TV in a frankly massive room and the mattress while comfy was in desperate need of a new mattress topper. The front desk requires you to sort your garbage into Food , Waste and Recycling but only provides ONE BIN, I have no problems sorting my waste out but where do i put the rest of my garbage the floor ?. The kitchenette was nice to have but there isn't much in the ways of ventilation and i dare not turn on a hot stove in an oven of a room. There are also no easily accessible outlets near the bed or couch area and i dare not unplug the fans in our room leaving the ONLY outlets near the kitchen sink which is silly. ROOM SERVICE- we had room service once and they only made the bed and left, They did NOT replace the pillows and bedding and we are not a 100% sure if the towels were replaced either. They did NOT stock up the Toilet paper and Tissue and we ended up having to go down to the front desk to get some. NO SUNLIGHT-This may not be a sticking point for certain people but our windows faced other rooms, which meant opening the blinds meant we had no privacy... and that meant we had no natural light. Pros: LOCATION-The hotel is located in a great area and is close to Myeongdong Market and Nam San Tower along with a whole bunch of other attractions. It is also incredibly close to Transit and walking and getting around Seoul was incredibly easy. This probably the only reason we didn't leave and forfeit the rest of our stay. SPACE: The room while rough and hot was very spacious and it gave us a chance to "stretch our legs" and having a full size fridge meant snacks and drinks stayed nice and cold. STAFF: The staff are nice and polite despite limitations and tried their best If you're considering staying at this hotel i recommend a short stay or being okay with compromise and heat otherwise stay else where.
