Oriental Hotel Kobe (Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In one form or another, the Oriental Hotel Kobe dates back as far as 1870, but a glance at its modern form reveals that it’s undergone some fairly substantial changes in the intervening years. (The earthquake of 1995 played a decisive role.) The present building was established in 2010, but it’s suffused with as much historical atmosphere as its designers could pack into its (impressively sturdy) structure." - Tablet Hotels

We absolutely loved every moment of our stay. We stayed for 7 nights as part of the Kobe 2025 Convention. Our room was beautiful, with a fabulous harbour view. The bed was like sleeping on a fluffy cloud! Beautiful furnishings, and very nice amenities and products provided. Staff were kind and helpful, the bar makes excellent cocktails. We would love to come back and stay here again.

The room, including amenities, are excellent! Big rooms, clean, and I love the showers and bathtub! Breakfast was very cozy and great food! Staff are all very courteous and very accommodating. Always ready to extend extra help. Location is perfect, close to everywhere specially the city loop!

Upscale, classic hotel in the heart of Kobe City. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff incredibly friendly and welcoming. The 2 Michelin Star sushi restaurant is truly outstanding. Our only caveat was the breakfast experience was really chaotic, which was surprising since the rest of the hotel ran so well.

The room was very clean, the location was great, and everything else was excellent. There was turndown service, the breakfast was delicious, and the à la carte options like the French toast tasted even better than what you’d find in a specialty café. The bed was extremely comfortable and soft. The ocean view was wonderful as well, and overall there was nothing to complain about. The only drawback is that the hotel is an older building and quite small in scale, and it seems to be heavily focused on weddings. There was no space in the lobby for guests to relax. Even in the waiting area for taxis, if a bride and groom came to take wedding photos, guests had to step aside. I had never experienced this before and was very surprised. I think the hotel should be clear about whether its priority is guest convenience or serving as a wedding venue. The limitations seem to come from the building’s compact size, but still, it was a very unusual and inconvenient experience — something I would not expect from a hotel of this level.

This hotel was the best one we stayed in Japan and high highly recommend. The room was fabulous, roomy, clean and beds very comfortable. The amenities were excellent and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. The location was perfect for shopping, sightseeing and restaurants. I can not fault this hotel. Great value for money

Everything was excellent. Thanks for refreshing the room daily. Restaurant service was top notch, waiters and waitresses are very polite and attentive. The daily breakfast meals were delicious and healthy. Having buffet style breakfast my last day on the 17th floor was very much appreciated. There was so much to choose from. The employees on floors 5, 6 and 17 are very polite, helpful and attentive. Oriental hotel is doing a very good job. Thanks for making my stay there special! *****

Hotel experience generally was good. Only comment I would make is that the breakfast at YEN5,500 is rather expensive for those running the Kobe Marathon. Race starts at 9am and breakfast opens at 7am. Runners can only eat so much in that time before the race. Perhaps the hotel can look into a discounted price for runners given the limited amount of time and food they can have on race day.

This is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Kobe, with an excellent location surrounded by all kinds of shopping options. The hotel's hardware facilities are outstanding, complemented by top-notch service (the front desk and lounge are exceptional—even the concierge staff you meet in the elevator can communicate fluently in English with guests). It’s truly at the level of a luxury hotel and absolutely worth the price. The executive room includes access to the executive lounge (with all-day alcoholic beverages) and even comes with a fully stocked minibar—definitely not the watered-down version you’d find at ordinary international chain hotels. If I have the chance to visit Kobe again, this will undoubtedly be my first choice.
