Oriental Residency scores well on location, especially for travelers relying on public transport. The hotel is at a walkable distance from Khar Railway Station, which makes commuting extremely convenient. Linking Road, known for its vibrant street shopping, is also just a short walk away—definitely a big plus if you enjoy shopping and exploring the local vibe.
The hotel staff is courteous and hospitable, always polite and willing to help. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, though the washrooms could use improvement, particularly visible stains on tiles which take away from the overall comfort.
As we were visiting Mumbai with family, we mostly explored outside dining options. However, we did opt for the breakfast buffet at the hotel. While the food is fresh, it lacks taste and aroma, especially the South Indian items like dosa and sambhar, which were below average. The menu variety is limited and repetitive—during our 2-night stay, breakfast largely rotated between eggs, salami, dosa, upma/poha, and parantha/puri. The South Indian dishes were underwhelming, whereas the puri was decent. Overall, the food lacks distinctiveness, and I would recommend eating outside.
Final verdict: An average place to stay, best suited for its excellent location and polite staff, but the food offering brings down the overall experience.
