7 unique log cakes to try in Singapore this Christmas - SilverKris

"Santa Claus logcake is a playful, Scandinavian-inspired dessert shaped with a crimson hat and snowy-white beard, nodding to the Tomte/gnome tradition. Beneath the festive icing sits a complex assembly of pecan brownies, salted caramel, cacao crumble, lemon mousse and hazelnut biscuits, offering contrasts of sweet, salty and citrusy textures. Priced at S$85 for 10 pax." - Joy Fang

Origin + Bloom, nestled in the luxurious Hotel Tower 3 of Marina Bay Sands, is far more than a simple coffee shop—it is a European-inspired patisserie and boulangerie that elevates the quick break into an elegant culinary experience. Must-Try Desserts: The Mango: A vibrant, dome-shaped pastry designed to look exactly like the fruit, featuring a delicate chocolate shell encasing a refreshing mango mousse and a passionfruit-lychee jelly center. It's a tropical, zesty delight perfect for Singapore's climate. Black Symphony: A decadent choice for chocolate lovers, this typically features a rich dark chocolate pecan brownie base, topped with a luscious salted caramel mousse, all encased in a glossy black glaze. It hits all the right notes for a complex, intense chocolate indulgence. Their signature brews, such as the contemporary cold-drip coffee, are highly praised by guests for being rich and well-balanced #OriginBloom #Origin #MarinaBay #Sands

New Update (12/26/2025) I visited Origin & Bloom this afternoon to purchase a cake and six Portuguese egg tarts. While waiting for my order, a female staff member in uniform called out loudly for “Madam Wu.” I shook my head, as I am not Madam Wu, but she continued to call out the order, “6 Portuguese egg tarts and a cake.” I approached the counter to check if the order was mine, but the staff simply dropped the bag on the counter and walked away without any acknowledgement, confirmation, or explanation. The interaction was unacceptable, rude and highly dismissive. In addition, I noticed significant inconsistencies in allergen labelling on all the cakes at the display case. For example, Caffè Di Natale lists hazelnut components but does not display a nut symbol, while Le Sapin contains almond cream but only shows dairy, wheat, egg, and alcohol. Conversely, Nutcracker shows a nut symbol even though nuts are not clearly indicated on the display label. When I asked the cashier specifically about the Nutcracker cake, the staff referred to an internal allergen list and confirmed the presence of almond cream. However, this information was not consistently reflected on the display labels that customers rely on. Inaccurate or incomplete allergen labelling puts customers with nut allergies at risk and could have serious health implications. When I tried to highlight the inaccuracy of the label, the cashier simply cut me off, and I could not fully raise my concern. Given that Origin & Bloom is part of Marina Bay Sands, a luxury hotel brand, I expected a higher standard of service and food safety. Both the abrupt service and inconsistent allergen labelling are concerning and need to be addressed to ensure customer safety and proper service standards. _______________________________________________________________ Previous review: I have visited Origin + Bloom many times. Yes, it is still always busy but staffs tried their best to work very efficiently and the lines when long tend to move fast. There are now two staffs taking orders. Origin + Bloom is helmed by executive pastry chef Hoi Kuok I and chief baker Doré Régis. I must say the pastries and baked items here were fantastic. There clearly is good amount of creativity here. I have been here with my siblings, my besties and other friends here. Everyone who came here loved the pastries and enjoyed their breakfast, lunch or tea. FOOD 5/5 Bakwa Croissant -5/5 It is the bbq chicken - Asian jerky (I believe Origin + Bloom is halal? There's no pork here) - croissant. On top of the croissant was a sprinkle of chicken floss. It is definitely an indulgent for breakfast, nonetheless I had it twice for breakfast :D Sausage bun 5/5 Bread though a bit too dense, the sausage made up for it. It was tasty and good enough for my heavier breakfast, which I then convinced myself it was brunch. Portuguese egg tart - 5/5 with a star! Best Portuguese egg tart in Singapore!!! At least that's imo. It was flaky but best to toast it at home for 12 mins. Super flaky and the egg centered custard was so good!! Chocolate Croissant - 5/5 It was very good but not the best I ever had. AMBIANCE 5/5 Previously they have like 6 to 8 seatings inside. Now they expanded and added a bigger seating area outside the bakery. I like that the establishment knows how popular and busy they are, and added more seatings to cater to patrons who wanted to dine in. SERVICE 5/5 Staffs were always friendly and nice. They really worked fast when the lines get long, and still with a smile. Highly recommended!

The staff is very friendly, and the bakery offers fresh bread, sandwiches, and a small selection of cakes daily. Coffee is served in generously sized cups. I tried the green tea latte and americano, but they weren’t particularly impressive. However, I wouldn’t mind returning if I’m in the area. The net pricing is a great bonus, though seating is quite limited.

The coffee and pastries are good. Convenient for people attending the event/conferences here. Coffee is dark roasted so it’s better with milk options for me. Cookies and croissants are great though. Some tables to stand and enjoy your drink quickly.

The pastry was pretty good! 🥐 I ordered the green tea latte but it tasted a bit bland tbh It’s located on one of the upper floors of MBS (if I remember correctly). A lot of people were working on their laptops here, so the vibe was super chill and quiet, perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful spot to relax or get some work done. 💻☕✨
