10 Best Coffee Shops in Cape Town

"Canadian Joel Singer opened this original home of artisanal coffee in Cape Town in 2006, and it remains one of the foremost breeding grounds of award-winning baristas. Origin’s HQ is an historic brick warehouse in trendy De Waterkant. Exposed red brick, original timber beams, high ceilings, and long, communal tables on two different levels add to the convivial warehouse charm. A minimum of eight single-origin coffees and a seasonal blend are served daily, and the very curious can sit at the brew bar and learn about alternative brew methods or ask questions." - Jane Broughton

112025 Great coffee. And nice cookie. Excellent service by Nelly. He loves cricket though I didn’t know his favourite cricket player- who is from RSA and is bowler. Not surprising- as I do t follow cricket :). Bought some beans too- one was a bit pricey ($50)- I am promised that they are exceptional . Worth visiting.

Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere & service. Everything we ordered was amazing. The server told us they make all of their pastries & baked goods from scratch in-house. I will be thinking about their lemonade tonic matcha for a long time- they use only ceremonial grade matcha from Japan. Also pictured is the papaya, lime & ginger juice and the Mushroom Toast. I hope I have the opportunity to visit again before I depart Cape Town!

Great food, great service, and an amazing place to get work done. The high-speed internet and plentiful plug points make it super convenient for remote work. Plus, having more than 50 single origin coffees to choose from is a win for any coffee lover.

Wonderful attentive service and great coffee. We had the omelette which was excellent and the Breakfast Banh Mi. The latter was great but the bread should have been more fresh. Everything else was without complaint and recommendable.

Amazing breakfast place, for me the best in Cape Town. Almond croissant is delicious, fresh orange juice is actually really fresh and the people are all very nice and welcoming. Recommended! And shout out to Denzel for his great service and coffee making.

Absolutely AMAZING coffee and food as always! I've been to this spot about 3 or 4 times and it never disappoints 🎉✨ Phenomenal coffee and the best sourdough I've had in weeks! 👍

Owner is such a heartwarming guy. He told us the journey of producing the pastries themselves instead of buying them from bakeries. The single origin beans are top tier and can highly recommend the coffee tasting platter

My beverage was very good - I had a mocha with oat milk at R64. At R140, the eggs Benedict (spinach and mushroom) was very filling, rich and drenched in a lot of Hollandaise sauce and the English muffin in butter. Maybe the option of Hollandaise on the side for those who want more. Overall excellent service and decent food.
