"Canadian Joel Singer opened this original home of artisanal coffee in Cape Town in 2006, and it remains one of the foremost breeding grounds of award-winning baristas. Origin’s HQ is an historic brick warehouse in trendy De Waterkant. Exposed red brick, original timber beams, high ceilings, and long, communal tables on two different levels add to the convivial warehouse charm. A minimum of eight single-origin coffees and a seasonal blend are served daily, and the very curious can sit at the brew bar and learn about alternative brew methods or ask questions." - Jane Broughton

Great stylish place for super delicious breakfast at fair prices. Super fresh food and also good to sit outside. We really enjoyed this cafe! ☺️

Really cool moody spot. Great for breakfast and brunch. Trendy yet family friendly. Fantastic coffee!! Best BLAT bagel and “corrected coffees”! Although the staff is pleasant, the service is pretty average.

Might be one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Although simple and unpretentious - eggs classics, it is close to perfect. The bread is fresh out of the oven, thick cut with so much flavour, soft with crunchy crust easy to cut through... The bagels, also fresh out of the oven, are just amazing. The ladies doing the service are great, the guy managing the seating was a bit rude and nosy, but not important enough to lower the 5star rating for this place.

Nice coffee, they have all sorts of varietals you can choose from. Food is good and breakfast served later in the day. Friendly staff who all help each other.

Something changed between Xmas and now. It was really good before. One of the best in Cape Town I’d say. But my last visit was rather disappointing. The coffee was watery. Could be something with the beans. I don’t know. And just generally lacked flavor. The food is okay ish. The eggs in the egg Benedict were too hard, even though we had asked them to keep it soft. And the bread was pretty bad. And I got a bahn mi, that was good. The sauce was good! But I visited for the coffee which was disappointing. The staff is friendly most of the time but sometimes they get pushy if you spend a few extra minutes just hanging around. It’s like they want you to leave. And for this extremely average experience, the waitress was bullying me into giving more tip. I already paid a R20 tip and she immediately retorted that the tip is normally 10% of the bill. Without caring to ask how our experience was, how the food was, how the coffee was. Nothing. No interest. I find this really shameless when people bully you into tipping. If the service is good, I’m happy to tip more. But let the customer decide. Btw, their music is good. Love their playlist. ☺️

Wow! What a great café. The roasts are extra ordinary. And the food is really well made. I would recommend this place to any specialty coffee lover.
