Dropped by the shop for the first time the other day and was very happy with my experience. First of all, it's great to finally see something elegantly using the space that sat empty, dilapidated, and ugly for years. It's a small shop, but easy to move around in, and everything is laid out well. It's super clean, and you can see the KLAudio ultrasonic cleaners working hard behind the counter.
Enjoyed some solid tunes while getting acquainted with the layout, and pulled out Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life to check out the LPs. To my surprise, not only was the album completely intact, including the 7" and booklet, but the LPs themselves were spotless! To top it off, it was a first or second pressing, but only $22. What!?! Take my money!
During check out, I noticed a Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers sitting on the ground behind the counter with other unpriced albums. Asked to check it out, to see if it was a Monarch or Sonic pressing. Used Discogs to try to match the runout, and the dude behind the counter and I thought it could be a Sonic. Again, spotless LP, VG cover w/ working zipper, and we quickly negotiated a $30 price. Happily handed over the cash and dashed away with my 2 new finds.
Turns out the Sticky Fingers is actually a Record Club of America release, but it's easily worth $45 and it plays beautifully. Stevie Wonder also played perfectly. Combined with $2.50 ultrasonic cleaning service, this is now my favorite shop in the Bay Area. Still getting acquainted with some of them, but certainly beats out anything I've seen on the Peninsula and in the South Bay.
