Origine Porto Gaia, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Absolutely a gem! This new hotel is located across from Porto in a quiet and safe area with amazing views of Porto. The hotel is cozy, elegant and offers beautiful and well designed rooms. The incredibly friendly personnel at the hotel make your stay very pleasant. They come every evening to double check and make sure you have everything you need. The rooms are brand new and beautifully decorated with a small fridge and gourmet coffee. We chose a room with a terrace facing the river and it was perfect for sunrise time and the beautiful sunsets. I can’t highly recommend enough this hotel. The location is ideal within an easy walk to restaurants and the bridge.

First of all everyone in the team is very welcoming and kind, the staff is very dedicated and diligent. Room was amazing, pristine clean, modern and with everything you would expect and beyond with a stunning view of Porto, including Luis I bridge. Cais me bem breakfast was great too, pastries are fresh and coffee is delicious. Definitely worth every penny. Thank you everyone at Origine

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Origine Porto Gaia. My wife and I booked one of their suites, and it was nothing short of superb — beautifully designed, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The entire hotel is stunning, and the service exceeded every expectation. A special thank-you to Helena at the front desk and Rita from the breakfast team. Both went above and beyond with thoughtful recommendations, attentive service, and genuine kindness throughout our stay. The amenities were excellent, and the breakfast was truly bar none — one of the best we’ve had anywhere. To top it all off, the team surprised us with champagne and dessert for our anniversary, which made the experience even more memorable. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommended! Can’t wait to come back again at some point!

From the moment we entered the hotel, the service has been impeccable. We were welcomed with a glass of port, a lovely welcome treat in the room and turn down service with chocolates - they made us feel so special. I cannot say enough about the staff, everyone was lovely and every request we made was addressed attentively and quickly. The heated outdoor pool was the perfect sunset viewing spot and the food from the restaurant was great. The attention to detail in the rooms is noticeable, and they make the most of the space. Bathrooms were great, and the shower was awesome. Loved loved loved our experience as this tribute property. If you come to Porto, staying on the Gaia side of the river is the way to go. Quieter, still great restaurants along the water, more reasonable prices and just a romantic spot to be. And the walk over the bridge if you do want to hit the Porto side is minutes away. Highly recommend choosing Origine for your stay.

Going to Porto on holiday - where to stay, the Porto side or the Gaia side? We chose the Gaia side and this hotel was in the Marriott collection of hotels. I wanted my Marriott points and this hotel seemed to check all the boxes by its description and so we chose Hotel Origine. But what a find! It's a "boutique" hotel, so none of the crazed check in madness. The front desk people offered us a seat at their reception area, gave us a glass of port and immediately made us feel welcome. Everyone was astonishingly friendly and helpful. We chose to include our breakfast - another great decision, as it turned out It was a great breakfast and our server Rita couldn't do enough to help us. The knowledgeable Mariana, "guest relations" director, had encyclopedic knowledge of where to go, tours that were available. and smart suggestions for getting around. The rooms were lovely, choice of restaurants were terrific. There was even a choice between the downstairs "champagne only" bar and a regular bar upstairs. The hotel is also wonderfully located - easy walking everywhere. We loved Porto and Gaia. We will definitely be back, and when we do, Hotel Origine will see us again.

A new boutique style hotel has joined the Bonvoy group! This hotel has just opened a few months when we stayed here in Oct 2025. As a tribute collection, the hotel have its own character and history.||Location is within walking distance to the Gaia harbour front with lots of restaurants and the cable car station. Rooms have a great view of the harbour front and cable cars.||Rooms are not overly huge but nicely decorated. It is enough for 2 people with suitcase spaces.||Staff are very helpful and very proactive in offering servicers to ensure guests are well looked after. Concierge was helpful in explaining and suggesting what we wanted. They were also very kind to offer us a packed breakfast on the day of our check out as we had a very early flight to catch which is very heart warming.||Yes, there are teething problems but I think the staff has made an effort to ensure all is smooth. For example, we had an incident where the electricity was cut off in our room due to a short circuit board in the room but the workmen came quite promptly after our call to front desk.||I would stay there again if I visit Porto next time.

Everything about my stay at the hotel was superb -- especially the service from the extremely professional and friendly staff. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome and to attend to my needs while staying there. The room was fantastic, and the view could not have been more iconic -- especially at night with the bridge and river banks lit up. I loved the convenient location. A huge shout-out to Luiz and Bruna on the night-shift, as well as to Bruno on the day shift and the young lady at breakfast who was so cheerful and helpful. Many thanks for your service, especially for going the extra mile (kilometer?!), and for your care. I've been a Marriott Bonvoy member since 1988 (lifetime titanium elite with travel all around the world). This is the first time I've left a review online. That's how impressed I was with my stay at the Origine Porto Gaia Hotel. Again, many thanks for everything.

We just left Porto and we spent 4 nights at the Origine Porto Gaia. When we checked in we were greeted by the front desk staff and offered water or local Porto wine. We were impressed by the staff during our entire stay. They were friendly, attentive and always interested in helping. Given this hotel is new, the rooms were nearly perfect. Well appointed and ours had a great view of the Douro River. Breakfast was what we typically expect at Europena hotels with the added bonus of the amazing wait staff. You can order off a menu, choose items from the buffet or do both. We finished our day at the bar each night and received wonderful service from Santi, the bartender. There is a metro stop nearby. You can easily walk to the Port Warehouse district but the views from the hotel are what make this location perfect. Highly recommended if you are headed to Porto and don't want the crowds of the city center.
