"I tasted the 2019 Bolgheri Superiore from Ornellaia, an iconic wine built for the cellar (yet with coiled energy that will also show well after a shorter rest or decanting): cherries and mixed mountain berries are framed by elegant but assertive tannins, with hints of sarsaparilla and oolong tea complicated by singed sage, dried oregano, black raspberries, cured olives, and a deep mineral core through a long, tobacco-flecked finish—if you have 25 or 30 years and a good wine fridge, patience should be richly rewarded. We booked a visit to Ornellaia as we were keen to visit one of the big famous wineries of Bolgheri. I didn't have high expectations, as we knew it was expensive and commercial but couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. €100 each for tour and tasting and worth every penny. Svetlana was our guide and we were early and she greeted us and spoke with us until the rest of our small group of 7 had arrived. She showed us the vines and then we got in a very nice executive minibus for a drive to the winery. The winery was stunning and the grounds beautiful. Loved all the art and the tour of the facilities was great. We were lucky to them bottling and it was fascinating. Then the wine library that again was a beautiful space. We returned to the welcome/shop parking and then went to another beautiful room in a nearby building for our tasting. It was all set up beautifully with lovely stemware, a notebook, pencil, crackers, and of course the 6 wines. All very generous measures. We had a great group and we're all having a great time. We weren't rushed and we were made to feel very special. Thank you Ornellaia and Svetlana for making this a really thoughtful and special visit.

Ornellaia is one of the top wine producers in Toscana. Last week I had the opportunity to visit their facilities and taste some of their premium wines. As opposed to many other wine producers in the region, Ornellaia actually benefits from a sea-side climate since it is so close to the Mediterranean shore. Highly recommended for both wine-tasting and observing their production process.

An exceptional visit with lots of art The visit has been hosted by a young sommelier from Sardegna who introduced us to the property, vineyards, culture and wines of Ornellaia. The tour was 100€ per person and absolutely worth it.

The best winery tour I've had so far. Ornellaia's property is amazing. It perfectly combines the modern large-scale production with the beauty of nature. Its art project (Vendemmia d'Artista) is also incredible - whole winery's area is full with numerous wonderful art pieces. The wines are outstanding as well.

Awesome tour and tasting. Amazing wines. I know I had the 1998 vintage in Rome in 2001. Have enjoyed 50 bottles over the years.

A two-hours delightful and all-round experience, mixing history of winery and wines, visit to vineyards and wine-making facilities, view of beautiful architecture and art pieces and tasting of exceptional wines. Svetlana was our guide, very professional, competent and passionate.

We did a wine tour here. Took us 2 hours. We visited the wine cellar, wine fermentation and bottling operations. Svetlana was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable. After that we did wine tasting of 5 wines (one white and rest reds), plus olive oil and grappa. Overall, no rush, fun experience. It’s by appointment only.
